Great and very beginner friendly; I would recommend it to those looking to get into pixel art, though for some reason, it crashes if you use the paint bucket a lot. Some cool features to add for more experienced users would be animation/frames, the ability to copy parts of one drawing onto another, palletes, and layers. More dynamic canvas sizing would also be appreciated.
I've been using this app for 4-5 years now and it is amazing for creating pixel art when away from a computer. This app is actually what got me into making pixel art as It is very beginner friendly, intuitive, and doesn't have lots of ads (only like a banner ad at the bottom of the screen and a video ad every now and again when you leave a drawing). The only change I'd suggest would be the addition of a line tool. (Also please remove the "Great for NFTs" in the description)

When I came to see some reviews, I saw the app was listed as "In-App Purchases" so I came to check to find, there is an Add Remover. I didn't even know there were adds! Also, this took me a while to realise, if you saved pixel art and, for instance, delete the app or the canvas, by using the right sized canvas, you can perfectly re-import the image. This app is great. It's wht it's supposed to be and nothing more. No extra trash, not too many adds, not too complicated. I hella recommend it.
I've been using this app for a couple years now and it's been working fine. However, the ads HAVE to stop or at least be dialed back. I just lost 2 hours worth of work on a project I'm getting paid for because some ad decided to pop up in the middle of me working and crashed the application, deleting a ton of progress. The ONLY time an ad should ever rightfully show is when you go to export a project. Especially since you don't give us any tools to use. Meaning it's 1 pixel at a time.
This app is great. Its very simple and easy to use, but there are a few features I think would improve it greatly: It would be even better for making cross-stitch patterns if it would let you select and move groups of pixels that have been painted. Also, I would love it if I could enter a HEX code to get a specific color rather than having to use the color picker each time. Nevertheless, it is all I expected it to be and has been very helpful.
It's great for creating your own pixel art! Most pixel art apps have you click and boom you've added a color and that's it and they usually require you to animate your art. This has a bucket to cover anything not colored and let's you do one at a time! It even has multiple different bit sizes so you can make as big of a sprite as you want! There are barely even any ads! The fact that a free app is better than ones you have to pay 10$ for shows how far society has fallen so just ignore that fact.
One of the best pixel art apps I've found. I kinda want the pixel ratio to have more variability, but I get it. Kinda time consuming, very small selection of tools; you've got the colour picker, the pencil, the eraser, the paint bucket, and the back button. Better hope you don't make a mistake cuz it'll take twice as long to fix it.
It is really what i've been looking for. Except from one thing; when you zoom in the canvas and then exit the app without closing it, if you re-enter the app the canvas will not be zoomed like before. This is something that prevents me from drawing quicker something that i have saved as a screenshot, since i have to exit the app end get into my gallery and see what is the next step of my drawing. Please fix it, it 'd be useful.
This app would get 5 stars if there were only an option to pay a one-time fee to disable ads. In addition to the banner ads taking up screen space, the popup ads occasionally start playing music at inopportune times and I just want them gone. The app is otherwise a good, straightforward pixel art app with a clean UI and solid features for drawing in low res
so far I love this app! I do cross stitch and this is a great way to make patterns. the import feature, while still in beta, takes a lot of the work out of pixelizing a picture I want to stitch. being able to edit the import to my liking just makes it even better. this app is quick and easy to use. the exporting works wonders too if you want to create sprites on the go.
Super easy to use, barely any ads, images can be imported to pick colors from and sprites can be moved around the canvas to get rid of the hassle of manually counting pixels to make sure they'll actually fit. Easily five stars. My only complaint is that you can't pick custom canvas sizes. I don't make huge pixel art pieces with this, but those who do would definitely appreciate a feature like that.
A simple yet amazing Pixel Editor app. It's simplicity and easy controls makes it fun and convenient to use. However, this particular pixel art drawing/editor lacks so much that I think it can't compete to the Pixly app. For now, I'd suggest being able to export transparent PNG images. Overall, I use this since I can easily get around with it.
I would pay to remove ads if the app had more features. Like change the color of the grid, size of grid on a drawing you've already started / transform the size of your drawing. $4 is a lot for the functionality the app has. That said, for free it works fine. Does what I need it to. Though I did have trouble saving one of my drawings and it glitched and looked corrupted once saved. Again, not paying $4 for that to happen. But for free, I'll take the glitches since it usually works fine.
Touch and gesture controls are super intuitive and easy to use. Most tools (like color eyedropper or flood fill) can be used with one or two taps, without digging through clunky menus. App has a palette of preset colors, but also gives you the option to easily select any custom color you want. Images are saved automatically. A short ad typically shows up after you exit out of the drawing mode after having used it for a while.
It's great but the import/export feature seems totally broken. At least I have been unable to get it to work, and I consider myself tech savvy. It would be really convenient to be able to transfer files to and from the same app on a different phone. It's still great even without this broken feature that got my hopes up- but because of this I limit my grids to no more than 32x32.
I am able to make minecraft textures with this, so yeah! It's extremely simple to use and works super well. It lets you zoom into your picture, and has a panning mode so you don't mess up your drawings while looking around! You can customize and save your own colors as well. The only complaint I have is that I don't think you can make custom cavas sizes.
A good app to make pixel art with. If the creators added an "export all as" button to the app that would be cool. Mayne allow sprite sheets to be generated becuase of it. Layers should also be added to make it a bit easier to create things. But as for the app on it's own it is easy an versatile get it if you want to make pixel art on the go.
By and large the easiest to use pixel art app available. Because its lacking in a few VERY basic tools - object select/move, copy and paste - it gets 3 stars. These are basic functions for any art app, and with the new inclusion of ads and their subsequent revenue, there is no real reason to not expand this app.
Great app to start pixel art drawing!! It's really complete, easy to use, quick to start, and doesn't have invasive ads! Colors are a little clunky to access but you get used to using the eyedropper. Also, 50 canvas feels a bit small, and eventually having to delete some canvas is sad, but it's understandable. And export sizes are a bit smaller than they should, but leaving all of that aside, it's awesome!!
It is really what i've been looking for.
