ABC13 Houston

3/28/2019. The performance is terrible, unusable actually. I have a OnePlus 6T and after the first two articles are read, it takes a minimum of 10 seconds, often longer to get to the next article. I have a 28 Mb/sec WiFi link. I do not use the video reports, I want to read the copy. I feel swamped with adverts. Worse than clickbait. Maybe it is designed better on iOS. There could definitely be a better way to cache the ads so bandwith is not swamped with them and smothering the news feed.

Chrome cast app- I use daily on Chromecast ; when you exit the app continues to play in the background. chromecast does allow you to close manually. Content - local news now shows first then national news. every commercial break (and there are many) exclusively advertises Disney owned properties -- I mute the breaks to avoid. still the best option to watch a full local news broadcast despite the annoyances.

screen times out when watching video. app doesn't keep screen on. even when watching it full screen (it won't switch to landscape) the screen times out. the app should force the screen to stay on but it doesn't.

After the 12/4/25 update, the feature to keep my phone awake while watching theovw fees does not work. Very annoying!

The app when watching my local news channel ABC CHANNEL 13 HOUSTON, TEXAS kicks me out about 40-60 seconds in. I watch other local channels, no trouble with them.

I enjoy watching this the only thing I don't like is the app cuts in and out but I do enjoy the show when I can

I'm not a fan of the new layout of the app. I dislike how majority of the stories are now small tiles at the bottom. I prefer how the top stories look where I can see a few lines of the article to determine if I would like to read more about it. I found I am not really going to the app anymore for my news because of this.

This was a great app until they brought on these forced 15 sec commercials that come on EVERY article. Even if you just want to READ a simple story they force you to watch an ad and there is no mute button. On top of that it's THE SAME ad! This is unacceptable. A corporate news agency doesn't need all of this ad money. This is level of greed is pathetic. I understand maybe one ad per 5 or maybe even 3 articles. I understand watching 5 seconds of an ad with the option to skip...

Older version no longer worked, so was forced to update. On new version, none of the videos can go into full screen mode. Also, every time you rotate your phone (when playing a video), video restarts. The 1 minute weather update was great, but not being able to play it full screen is a disappointment. Time to search for a new app, will give KPRC 2 a try.

I do like the push headlines for important news stories, and updated info as they come out, I would like to get pertinent information as it becomes available, but more often than not, the "live broadcast updates " from Turner or Abbot, etc, just shows the thumbnail with the play icon, when pressed, all I get is the continuous spinning line of 'loading..trying..looking..' but not being able to play the video/news clip. Sometimes an earlier clip on the same page will play well, but not the 1st 1

This app SUCKS. Anytime I see a news article link, I open it, it automatically opens in the app instead of the webpage (which isn't a bad thing in itself), but then it never loads the desired article. EVER!! I always have to dig around for it. Like damn bro just show me the sht I actually wanted to read instead of bringing me to some random most recent news story. takes all of 2 minutes to find what I came for. and by then I'm over it and dont care anymore. get it together please

I don't watch the news, but use to like getting notifications on my phone so I could check out stories I was interested in. The problem is, now when I click on the notification to open the app and read more, it doesn't take me to that headline. I don't have time to scroll through all of the stories to find what I'm looking for. That defeats the purpose of the notifications. If this isn't fixed soon, I'll probably just delete the app and choose another source.

The app does a good job at keeping me current on the latest news. There are a couple of issues I've been having. Whenever I go to watch a video, the app force closes and the only way I can really watch the video is to go online to their website. In addition, when I click on a link in my notification bar, the app takes quite a while to load the article. Hope this gets fixed soon.

I have had this app for a while, but this week 4/14/2020, every news story there's a pop up box saying to read the new "rules" read them once, but it won't go away! If I hit the dismiss it restarted the original app but still won't let me read the story. So I've installed and hopefully, Re-installing will fix the problem.

20220112: Still the same, BARELY WATCHABLE. Watching Houston's ABC 13 is problematic, the stream feed has very bad switching. They switch to ads abruptly, always cutting off the last 15 - 30 seconds of weather, traffic, ect. The ad that's first shown is then cut short for another ad. I watch from 5 to 7am weekdays as part of my wakeup routine, these jolting ad changes are aggravating. So much so, I don't recommend trying to watch Channel 13 from the internet app or by browser.

The old app was better I don't like the way it rolls over top of each otherTo many ads you are trying to read an article and ads pop up in the middle of your story and you have to read around them channel11 is a lot better and to many ads . Now i up dated it and youare forced to read more ads. I guess its time to ditch it like 11 news

Most of the time when you click on a "breaking news" notification it never opens up the article on the app. Usually just opens the last article you had open. Takes me 5 clicks on the notification for it to finally show up. If it shows up on the first click take about a good minute for it to load

A search option sure would be nice. Another needed feature would be the extended forecast with chance of rain. Looking at my saved locations I can see some days have a chance of rain,but can't tell how much. When planning things a couple of days out it's a huge difference if there is a 30% chance of rain as opposed to 80% and that's not clear on the extended forecast for locations. A screenshot of the extended forecast shown on newscast would really be helpful.

Although I love this station and those who report the up-to-date news I'm looking for, this app is horrible. The videos never play, or skip if they do play, and it's just frustrating when I'm trying to find out what is going on in Houston. Of course, the ads play just fine, but when it comes to the news, the app is subpar. I just feel like they could do better when it comes to the app. Otherwise, the station and the reporting is great!

After reading some reviews well i kinda wish the video would play like others but this app does the contrary on my phone. It buffers the video and never lets me play the video and this had been going on for a while. I even went to buy a new phone (LG G8)a month ago for the same purpose thinking my phone was the issue but that's not the case. The app continually keeps failing in that part. Obviously if its android forget that this app will work at its full potential!!
