Abide - Bible Meditation Sleep

I used to love this app when I first downloaded it 4 years ago, but it's become so buggy while simultaneously asking me to pay for a premium membership. In fact, it's the premium membership prompts that make the app so bad. The alarm reminder for my morning meditation continues to play over the actual meditation itself and won't turn off. I also can't ever back out of the app properly, which makes it constantly play noise even when I'm not using it. Not a relaxing time with the Lord.

I have been using Abide for over 8 years. This is how I start my day. The only issue for me are the narrations. Although, very professional with great sounding voices, they are too professional, in my opinion. Like TV or radio announcers; too perfect and sterile; kind of impersonal. That era is gone. I would prefer more authentic voices so I could relate better. On the other hand, their theatrical versions with voice actors and sound effects are great.

Free version has just awful lags during the meditations. Makes them really hard to get through and focus. Otherwise they are great, but there's no way I'd even consider paying for an app that can't get its most basic function working correctly Updated 11/24/25: changed from 2 stars to 4 as Abide customer service was fantastic. issue still exists for Pixel phones but they are working on it. As with most apps, there's a lot of gatekeeping to try and get you to upgrade, but overall a great app

$10 a month for a sleep app? Too expensive. edit: The comment does not change my review. $2 ($5 absolute max) a month. Way overpriced for something that is to help somebody fall asleep. MMOs are $13 a month, for hours upon hours a day. Nightsounds is free, but I dont want to give my kid internet access to play it. Honestly, I installed it, saw the price, and uninstalled it.

Edited review to 5 stars..... I use Abide throughout the night, every night, while we sleep. I wish we had the ability to loop one of the music options (not the background music) while playing one of the sleep stories. It'd also be nice if we had more background music options that will continue throughout the night, after the story ends. The main takeaway is that I use this app every night, and would be lost without it. Thank you Abide team!

Accidentally hit the pay button while lying down and it's way too difficult to find out how to cancel payment. Manage subscription doesn't allow you to manage anything and nothing is intuitive, but seems purposely hidden. Needless to say, my attempt at a relaxing evening had the opposite effect. It really shouldn't be so much trouble and should be as easy to cancel as it was to stumble into payment. Pressing back button during processing no longer cancels the process either. Not nice!

Liked it at first. Needed a sleep aide & wanted to fall asleep to scripture. Considered paying for full version, but not anymore. The app no longer works. The story stops suddenly, then hours later when I'm in a deep sleep, starts playing again & wakes me up. Went thru 2 updates & still not working. It's not my data service 'cause everything else works, including Calm app. I'm not gonna pay that high of a cost for something that doesn't work. Uninstalling since free version won't work either.

A few problems exist: 1. Logging into the app needs to be improved; It seems that one voice talks over another on occasion. 2. The whole Bible isn't included with the app. 3. I wish there was a way for me to reflect on each Bible meditation that I do each day. (i.e. a journal of some sort). These weaknesses need to be improved in order for listeners to get the most out of the app.

I like this app except it would be great if the sleep stories were grouped into categories to help find a new one to try easier. Also anytime I click on one to see the little blurb about it and then decide not to listen to that one, the list goes all the way back to the top instead of where I was, which is really frustrating. So basically just making it easier to sort through and read about them before I pick one would be great. If they update that, then 5 stars from me!

Amazing content, and I love how easy it is to get started! After two weeks, I was sold on buying the app to access the longer meditations. Using the app has become a highlight of my day! Four stars because it does not always register that I have the paid subscription, so I have to open and close the app several times before I can get to the longer meditations.

Update: I got a quick response form abide explaining how I can easily overcome this bug and it's now been working out great... appreciate the fast response! Great app but paid options don't always work. If you pay for the full app, there's supposed to be an option to listen to the daily reading for: 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 15 minutes... It often auto-defaults to 2 minutes

I need some help. I have subscribed and paid the annual fee but the app keeps asking me to restore my purchase but whether I click yes or no it gives an error and says it cannot restore the purchase because I've already subscribed. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Did not help. UPDATE: Customer service was able to reboot the account and seems to be working great. I think the material and readings are awesome! Biblically spot on! Well worth the Annual fee!

Great app, love it and would recommend it to other. There is two thing I wish had not been changed. I notice that you can no longer change the background music while listening to a mediation, you have to exit out of mediation and change which is annoying. The 2nd is the background music volume was louder than it is now. I can barely hear it now without the speakers voice being over powering. Could this be fixed back to the original before update.

I love the mediations and the "bed time stories" my children go to sleep to them every night. But the app crashes a lot. I constantly have to refresh and restore My subscription, because it basically forgets I have subscription so I have to go through the steps as if I want to subscribe for the first time, then it says there was an error because I have already subscribed, then it crashes and come back with my subscription. This is practically every single night.

I can't get any variation for "music". Only a water sound. UPDATE: I found the solution - swiping left when you are in a meditation. Update: Good response from Abide, and this is resolved. I do love this app. I struggle with the female narrator not sounding like a real person, bit maybe that is just me. I skip over anything that is narrated by that narrator, and I love everything else.

I love this app and have used the paid version for about 4 years--worth it and reasonably priced. They make upgrades regularly too. I have listened to many of the meditations, some, many times. I've used the sleep music many times as well. One thing I struggle with is preferring certain narrators. I would love it if my favorites would record more, but everyone will have their own preferred ones. I'd also love if the meditation music continued playing like it used to.

Since the update, I've lost all my favorite saved meditations, my alarm which I used every morning to wake up and listen to my abide meditation and my journal entries. Also I cannot log in anymore. Plus after I close the app the sound it plays in the background does not stop, even though I closed the app. So bummed, I have had this app for years and I enjoy it so much! It's helped me thru many tough moments.

I LOVE IT!!!! I use it every night to sleep and it helps me to fall asleep faster and lessens my anxiety! You can adjust the length of time, i.e: you can have it play for 15mins, or loop it to play 30, 60, 90mins. Daily meditations are great! Sooooo many emotion topics to choose from and a lot in each category as well! A variety of instrumental background music to choose from to help you while in your quiet time with The Lord! There's even a category for kids! Also an option to play by narrator!

This app is a huge blessing!! The price is totally worth it! It's actually less than half the price as other wellness apps but better. It was one of the main tools that got me through a period of high anxiety and depression. It also helps me sleep almost right away! They also have the most beautiful stories for kids! My 7 y.o. listens every night. I just wish they had more content for kids. I also really appreciate the diversity of the authors and readers. Thank God for Abide!!
