Amethyst

The app is fantastic. I would have given 5 stars, but there is a annoying bug. In the background, the app keeps playing a video, silently without sound, nonstop draining the battery. The video is from the video feed or from a note I have seen recently. I can see it pinned in the phone's player, on loop. Even when I end task, and start the app again, it immediately starts playing the same video.

Just downloaded, and only spent 5 minutes, which is all the time I have for now. Two things: my feed is empty (obviously), but there's no clear way to enter someone's npub. And I could follow myself (does that even make sense?), but cannot unfollow. EDIT: Figured out how to add, although it would be nice with a dedicated button on the feed page. Also was able to unfollow myself after having added others. Now I just need to figure out how to change my name and avatar, which is also not clear

Great - With Some Growing Pains... I downloaded the app about 10 minutes ago. It's fairly intuitive to get started even without an intro. Video incorporation is amazing! A hiccup I've found already: Muting/unmuting a video when looking at the profile of a video producer seems to mute/unmute all other videos within the scroll window frame. I found VersusMedia right off the bat. It's awkward to listen to multiple songs at the same time.

Amethyst is my "go-to" client for nostr and the client I'm first to recommend to others. Nevertheless, I can't bring myself to give it 5 stars yet. I've frequently tried to inform the developer of a very frustrating issue that affects me and others who may not have the very latest phone... The app slows/freezes when I access any popular profile. I believe it fails because it's slowly fetching all that user's notes in the foreground rather than only a few at a time or with a background task.

i dont really get it. bluesky is a bit easier to understand but i wont down rate an app just because its not perfectly intuitive if im not going to take the time to learn it. stil credit where credits due we need more alternate social media so good job making this. i hope yall do a more user friendly easy to learn one in future u obviously have the skills.

Feels similar to what Twitter was when it first started. Like what social media should have always been. It's advisable to select user accounts to follow, because if you select global, you'll be drinking from the fire hose. Block those accounts you don't like. Also make use of the muted words list. Lots of options to give you control. Main thing you need to remember is to write down your NSEC when you create an account. Your security is your responsibility.

todays am. update, (1.04.0) on android, crashes imediately ever since upgrading. briefly pops up a message possibly hinting to dm the author, but then everything vanishes and exits. unusable now :(((( defunct what happened? thanks.

Good, but every time a post in a foreign language appears, it downloads a zip with what I think is a dictionary or a local model for translating the post. It raises some concerns as the app doesn't ask you before downloading. Also, why am I subbed to 502 accounts without doing anything? Later edit: This app follows accounts without your consent. Do not use unless you want to deal with removing them one by one.

I should be honest, It's sucks. I think it should be more prepare before release he apps. Cus there so many bugs to the apps. I cant protect my acc from explicit contents. It's full of users from china which is i dont understand what they r talking about, due to there's no translation fiture. I hope it will be better soon so I can move from the blue app one. Reinstalled after a long time, but still the same annoying bug/behavior. Posts keep loading in the background, and, as the images from those notes load and take up space, the posts I'm reading keep jumping on screen. Great app in any other respect.

Very good client for such a young project. Easy to set up and quite intuitive UI. Suggestion for the devs: add more control for multiple languages, I speak multiple and I would like to see all notes with the original text, right now everything is "auto translated" to English.

Great app. The only thing I would change is add the ability to 'star' your favorite users (who never seem to be online when you are) so that you could quickly get to their profile to see their latest notes, kind of like a browser bookmark folder.

Best looking Nostr app on Android but it has some quirks. The top bar looks odd in light mode - purple on the system bar, then white, then purple again. Just make it all purple or white. Some bugs with profile/banner pictures not sticking. Would love to get push notifications somehow for replies.

BEST NOSTR CLIENT ON ANDROID. Most the negative reviews were clearly made by people who can't figure stuff out for themselves. You'll find most the info about this client on github, your feed is entirely controlled by you. (too much bitcoin and p*rn on your feed? That's all on you) It's not confusing, JUST READ THE F'N DOCUMENTATION. my user experience has been amazing, its clear this client is developed by a competent dev team. Orbot connection is a huge plus as well.

Crashes a lot when loading a user's feed but lots of potential. Nice Tor integration. Nice interface. Could use a feature walk through. I couldn't find a manual, so for a new user onboarding experience, it'll be rough. It does seem to crash quite a lot when loading a user's feed. Not sure if the app windows/limits what it first pulls in, then load on demand, or it tries to load everything. Seems the latter. I have a S23 Ultra with 12/512gb and it would force close. Everything else great.

Great way to access Nostr! I tried another couple of apps too, including Fountain for podcasts, but I like Amethyst for the conventional "social feed" experience. There are lots of other cool things that I have only limited experience with so far, like the live chat+stream. All good so far!

The APP is good looking and easy to undertand Just a tip for New versions: when changing something, please, put a notification sign or orange circle showing to where the old feature went off hahahahah The old version had a Bottom Button to select Global feed, but this new one Global is on the top, in a ComboBox, I took few minutes to find it out 😅

amethyst is the only client I use for nostr, always has been, never had problems. updated it this morning and now it will bring up login page but soon as I enter my nsec or npub it immediately crashes, then crashes immediately whenever I try and open it again. uninstall and reinstall only to find same thing happening. what happened with the update?? was working perfectly yesterday 🤔

Fastest, most features I.e marketplace, live streaming, media uploading ect. Though you can't start a live stream from Amethyst right now but the fact you can view them is a good start. Can't figure out how to add pictures to gallery yet
