the app works well, but I've noticed that on after-market stereos, it works haphazardly. If your last use was the stereo, when you get back in your car, it will play the radio and then turns off when loading the android features. I always have to go back to the main menu to go back to the radio. On an OEM android included in new cars, it works well. This feature does kill your battery, and if your phone gives you a usage report, it will say that you used your phone while driving

CONSTANTLY losing my phone on Android auto! I have a Samsung Note 20. It's 50/50 hit or miss if my phone and truck are going to sync up using android Auto each time I get in the truck! When it doesn't connect, I have to go through about 20 minutes of fiddling to get it to work again! And even then, it's hit or miss if it's going to be choppy or not, audio constantly cutting out, maps lag, even just switching between functions can take several minutes. Disappointment to say the least.

Not sure what's going on with this app, but all of a sudden it stopped connecting properly, my car doesn't recognize my device, I've tried changing the charging cord, deleting my phone from my car, and disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth but nothing works. I'm trying to update the app but that won't work either, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app which also doesn't work. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's the app.

Works well most of the time. This app, or maybe it's Google maps, does not like city driving (which is usually when I need it most), it gets lost and recalibrates to reroute randomly, even if I'm just sitting at a red light. I also recently have had an issue where it won't let me connect to Android Auto/it disconnects when I put on a podcast on spotify. Update: Now it will randomly disconnect even when playing music. This app gets worse and worse with each update...

One star for the good concept. One star for the slick user interface. I would love to rate this higher but it crashes without fail, usually multiple times in a drive. It's also very inconvenient that I can't use Google maps on my phone. I *have* to use the Android Auto app, which is especially irritating because the search function voice command doesn't work. Great idea, terrible execution. Edit: Changing to one star because it has stopped working out of the blue. "USB device is not responing."

If I could keep this app connected in my truck, then it would get five stars. But since I lose connection to my infotainment center anytime I have less than 5G, it's absolutely useless in my area. The only time it's reliable is when I'm on the highway. I've tried multiple different USBC cables, updated my phone, the app, and my infotainment center. And I've tried resetting my data by turning it on and off and by turning on and off airplane mode. Nothing makes it more reliable.

I'm at a loss. For a few months now and several updates, my text messages don't read out the first like 5 syllables of any incoming text. Even if it means it starts in the middle of a word. So, if someone says yes, maybe, what do you think or anything shorter than that, I dont hear it. If I am lucky I can click on the messages icon and read the message if they haven't sent another message yet but, the whole point is NOT to have to look away to read it. It also disconnects constantly.

Android Auto work pretty well. The interface is pretty intuitive. There is a weird issue that periodically when I use the phone feature all bass drops out and I have to restart AA. I also don't love the Waze interface to submit traffic issues, I'd like a 1-prese shortcut. Also, the Microsoft Teams app doesn't allow you to send messages, only attend meetings. other than that few gripes it's much better than the standard head unit interface.

Works about 90% of the time in my 2025 Toyota Camry with Samsung Galaxy s24. 10% of the time it will randomly say device is unresponsive and will refuse to connect no matter how many times I plug it in or try to connect by Wi-Fi in the car. I've tried cutting the car off and opening the door to restart it, I have tried restarting my phone, and I've even tried both at the same time. It will just randomly work when it wants to. When it works, it is great!

Generally good interface. Wish there was a way to stop Waze from turning on automatically. Also music apps work randomly sometimes. Just need more user setting control. update 7 years later, waze not available as an option anymore. can't use voice search on maps. my 2023 Hyundai Tuscon native navigation is more useful. Android Auto is becoming less useful.

At least one of the apps through which I could play audio via Bluetooth in my older car can't be played now at all. Also, almost every time I start my car, it will automatically pull up either Pandora or my Sirius app (whichever I last used, I think) after a few seconds. I did research online and saw that there is an option to disable the "Play music automatically" function. I tried turning that off, it still does it.

Used to love this app for navigation. The last few updates have really ruined it. It disconnects all the time while driving. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it multiple times. I have even bought a new charging cable. While driving I have to constantly unplug my phone in hopes it will work again. The USB settings get changed when connected as well. I have gone in numerous times to make sure "data transfer/android auto" for the connected device is chosen and "Charging only" is selected.

Getting error "voice commands are not available." How am I supposed to use hands-free if I can't use my voice?? Also, Google assistant is still garbage. Different results for the same prompt, can't answer basic questions, and defaults to "Sorry I don't understand" for an unbelievable amount of basic commands. Infuriating.

Constantly losing my connection whether it's connected via cable or Bluetooth. If it was every once in a while that would be tolerable but it's multiple times a day. I downloaded this app so I can use the navigation in my superduty since it's not built into it. I also use it for a navigation system I have in a work van and it's always disconnecting with it too. Whoever is in charge of this app really needs to do something about the connection issues. It's great when it actually stays connected.

this worked perfectly until I had an update on my Samsung Galaxy 22+ phone. Now I can't get it to connect at all. I have bought a new charging cord, I deleted and reinstalled Android Auto on my phone and still can't connect. It is frustrating to say the least! What happened? I have gone through the troubleshooting steps--no success. I'm ready to give up..

This is for wireless AA. When it works great. When it doesn't, OMG so frustrating. Two major issues when it doesn't. One is just crashing due to external interference at the same place every time. Second is when streaming music, it will skip/stutter exactly every 20 seconds. This stutter will get fixed and then a new update pushed that breaks it again. Only fix is to ditch AA and use BT streaming. Changing from 2 stars to 1 star since Google can't seem to not break stuff over and over again.

This app is going to get people killed. Among other problems, when Android Auto is connected to a vehicle and an alarm goes off, it only gives you about 2 seconds to put dismiss or snooze, it doesn't allow you to snooze for more than 5 minutes, and if you don't push dismiss or snooze in the first 2 seconds, then the screen turns off and the alarm keeps going off. This means that while you're driving, you have to pick your phone up, unlock it, and then choose dismiss or snooze.

Update as of 2/23/26 This app is ridiculous. I have had the same issues since my last review. Half the time, it's tells me it "can't connect". All of a sudden, all I hear is "oops, something went wrong". Once again I cannot use the voice option to send messages or anything. I have check all my settings, ect. This app is the worst!!

The app is fine and I appreciate being able to hook up my phone. However, I miss things like that ability to scan for radio stations in unfamiliar locations and have presets that are easy to select. I feel like I have to spend time looking at my phone as I usually drive alone. Maybe I'm not using the app to its fullest??

I hate this app. I couldn't hate this app more. I constantly need to disconnect and reconnect or it acts as though my Bluetooth is skipping like an old cd. The entire time my car is on, a pop up appears in the top of my phone the entire time it is connected. Don't even attempt to use your phone while you are anywhere near your car. I would rather have a wired connection than ever use this app again.
