Had the app ages ago but deleted. Saw the Aurora tonight thanks to a post on Facebook so downloaded anew and pleasantly surprised, looks much friendlier now. 1 criticism, I live on Deeside in NE Wales yet my location choice is M'chester or Betws y Coed! 1 complaint, despite allowing notifications, sound + vibration, then chosing a sound, the volume slider doesn't work. Result; my test notification vibrated but no sound to tell me it was an aurora alert!

data is presented in a clear and concise format. updates and notifications are easy to configure and are non intrusive. a well put together app and great work by all those involved.

It's a fun app, but I could've sworn it used to have cloud coverage maps. Not sure where that feature went and why - it was very useful.

Really useful app! Updates frequently (every few minutes) and you can review geomagnetic levels from over the course of the day. The alert function is great, I like that you can choose to be alerted at different levels. Also appreciate that the app asks for very few device permissions (just notifications I think), is transparent about why these are needed, and doesn't require you to provide any personal data.

It's not often the aurora is visible when I live, and I don't want to miss it when it does. A minor feature request perhaps but being able to set thresholds higher than "red" for the alerting might be nice. As would being able to "snooze" for nights like last night where the fields were strong all night.

Notifications come in an hour out of sync so by the time I get the alert it's already at the end of the hour window. It's an app for the UK that doesn't allow for British Summertime and has no option in the settings to rectify this. I've rated as one star purely because notifications after the fact are of no use at all. Edit after response from developer - no email received, and whatever the reason, notifications an hour after the fact render the app useless other than for interest.

Great app for alerts to spot the aurora and has netted me a few. Would be nice if there was a customisable threshold as being down South I'd set higher than red. Anyway, still a great app thanks! EDIT - picking up on other comments, you really need to go thorough app and battery settings to switch off ALL battery optimisation & sleep to get alerts. This app will go for a long time with no user interaction if the sun is quiet and most phones will try to sleep the app, which means no alerts...

Useful in theory, but it has to be manually refreshed and never gives alert notifications (even with all settings enabled). || Edit to reply: it's not straight away; I've had the app since May. I read the FAQ and tested settings before reviewing. Today I tried enabling 'test alert', and after receiving it, the app started refreshing itself -- but still didn't alert me when activity pipped over the threshold (amber) later on in the day.

Edit: tried clearing the cache, reinstalled again, still the same, but it eventually started working. Maybe it was being overloaded due to the popularity of the strongest solar flares since the 1920's or the solar flares affecting mobile/WiFi signals 😁 I love this app and was disappointed when it wasn't working. I was too quick to judge it's glitches last night Had to uninstall from my phone, now all I get on screen when I open the app after redownloading it is "downloading" for hours on end

respect the efforts behind the backend, but the app execution is poor, it's daytime blue skies in the UK right now and I'm being told it's likely i can see Aurora.... yeah right... i think pooling cloud radar, time of year, light pollution and localising chances of seeing anything would go a long way to help do what they need to do to tick off this beauty from their bucket list... this app needs a setting to shut it up based on your gps - I'm not in russia or Norway so I'm not in the red zone.

A bit disappointed. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the app per se. I have had multiple red alerts come in on clear nights and have seen nothing. I feel that the traffic light system is far too simplistic to cover the whole uk and doesn't really correlate to what is seen on the map page.

Love this Aurora alert prog. Can't compare with others, but find this really good at highlighting when an aurora might be on the horizon, and its unobtrusive, but sends alerts when aurora might be active. Unfortunately I live too far south to see much with the naked eye, but have managed to capture aurora (north sky) through phone cam. It's a bit pot luck but an absolute gem when there are results. Seeing something might not otherwise get to see in lifetime.

A brilliant little app that gives UK centred aurora predictions. Can I request some improvements to the notifications, though? I'd like a time period setting to enable notifications and also an intensity threshold. I live in the South of England so I'm not going to get out of bed at 3am to see an aurora unless it's a pretty intense storm and I really don't need to know if an aurora is likely at lunchtime!

Great app. Although the aroura is not always visible by naked eye when there is a red alert, it can usually always be seen through camera. I've been notified of several arouras that I wouldn't have known about without this app. The alert mode is also very good as it never fails to wake me up and make me jump.

I have it set to amber alerts but did not receive an alert yesterday (10/10/24). It skipped from green at 3pm to red at 4pm, this seems like a bug? It should still send out an alert even if there's no amber if it jumps to red. I missed the aurora which is frustrating since it's the whole purpose of the app.

was working perfectly until yesterday and an update but now the latest time of magnetic activity is about 9 hours behind??? Any ideas??

Compact and minimalistic app. Does not need annoying permissions. Kudos for that. Notifications need improvement. I got notification at 18:00 that there is minor geomagnetic activity at 17:00. That's like missing it and rubbing it in.5 Minus 1 stars till notifications are improved. Edit: The timezone of timings needs to be specified if it is BST or UTC. Since this app is meant for UK it ought to be BST or else follow the timezone on the device where app is installed.

Great app, the only thing missing to get a 5 star review is the option to restrict alerts to the hours of darkness. Being told there is a high chance of being able to see an aurora in the middle of the day, isn't actually much use.

So far I've only been getting notifications of "visible aurora" during the day. I understand there maybe strong geomagnetic occurrence's at 14:00, but to have a notification to let me know of a possibly visible aurora is a bit confusing. Do I need to change any of my settings? Could a possible time frame for the notification be an option?

Missed multiple auroras as the app doesn't send notifications and sync until you actually open the app - tried reinstalling, no do not disturb or battery saver and notifications are on in settings (get notifications only when I open the app) - weird, using another app now and it works
