Hmm, not sure if this is worth it. At a minimum, at least I don't have to worry about my financial data getting sold to third parties. But, it's a lot of clicks to record a deduction, and still nowhere to record deductions like donations or WFH days, so these still all have to be recorded separately. Plus I can't see that there's any easy way to export to CSV so you can retain your own record - which seems notable given other users reports of data losses.

I had removed my old device through the app five months ago and used the app on my current device with no hitch. Now I can no longer access the app using current phone, as it requires me to use my old phone for some reason. I have removed my old device ages ago from the list of devices - it should not ask me to log in using it anymore.

The app keeps going round in circles. It's locked me out of using it. Using myid to enter the code from ATO and after identifying myself to myself the ATO app stays locked. It's like being locked out of home 🏡, held so much promise too...

The app should be able to be connected with a laptop and computer app. Then I can just upload my deductions from there, as it is sometimes more convenient.

I can no longer login to the app. It will send a verification code to a device that doesn't exist. there is absolutely no other way to restore the account, unless I create another mygov. horrible experience

It tells you call support to register the device, who have no idea what you are taking about. Awful experience during call to ATO, as they have no Idea.

If your phone dies and you get a new device, they make it impossible to sign in without having someone who sounds like they're in an Indian call centre call you from a private number and insist on you giving them all sorts of personal information. Sus as

I used this app for years and was very happy, but can no longer access since getting a new phone. MyID doesn't talk to the app! Very frustrating.

always crashes when I open the app. can never add deductions on the odd occasion I get in, it crashes again.

Same as everyone else logging in on this stupid app does not work and just stays blank on the auth.ato.gov.au when trying to log in with digital ID. Just stay away, these guys don't know how to make an app to save their life. I can login fine in the browser using the exact same method with Digital ID. It used to work last year...

After logging in using a 'Strong' Digital ID, this app doesn't recognize a device which I used to access it a few months ago and won't let let me proceed to services.. Can't lodge my tax return which I was half way through a few months ago on this device! Says it's a new device. Doesn't tell me what devices I supposedly accessed it with before. Just absurd levels of technological incompetence.

logged in once or twice successfully, now I need a code to access on the only device I have the installed not a new device. remains 1 star app.

Confusing having to jump over to the phone when I want the mygov app on my laptop. hate the phone - laptop much easier

Unable to log in on new phone. Need a code from the app on the old phone to log in. App instructs to call the ATO number, which is currently experiencing peak demand and doesn't go anywhere. Renders the entire app useless - needs a backup to verify via text or email

This is a free useful, government-provided alternative to the subscription-based accounting/business expense tracking apps available online. However, it could really do with some more essential features, such as a search function; dark mode, and more different categories for expenses, such as gifts and donations. It could also have a feature that could make it easier to 'reset' your records so that your latest backups don't end up bloated with previous years' content.

this was the best app for my deductions. now I can't access it and it has all my deductions saved in it. there was no notice given so I could save my data. how can I get this information back.

Not great - got to end of year and it fails to login to upload despite reboot, uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing cache and reapplying permissions. The error is "login failed" - with no error code, poor workmanship. I can login from phone to ato website with no issues but the app cannot despite taking me to the web page to login. It's lost the connection to the account in order to upload. Advised that support may be able to be in contact in a couple of working days but they are flat out. It took three calls over three days, each time explaining what the app is (they've not heard of it!) including nearly an hour on the phone being passed to technical support who advised they don't support it. The advice for two days was "keep trying'. Finally had an email written to support from the call centre with details of error. I hope they do something... Worked fine for previous years. It would benefit from more options for expenses rather than having to type in the details. It is useful for keeping track on the run and copying receipts but that is negated if it can't upload and you have to start all over again. You also have to make sure you run a manual backup, it isn't automated each time you add a record, which I thought would be included or at least a button added to the screen to remind you (rather than hidden away in settings). It's a government app so basically it's like a new Australian Prime Minister, seems like a great idea but then fails to deliver and becomes a huge disappointment when you need it the most.

Almost 6 months later, and I am still having issues with sign in with this app! I changed my password, and now it's incorrect even tho I have copied and pasted it elsewhere once I got the new password. No, i did not copy the extra spaces before I get asked. the passkey is sending it to my device, but it has not! I have to view It keeps saying, "Dont close the app. This can take a while." waiting 3-5 minutes to get "an error has occurred," and i can't sign in. I troubleshoot, and nothing changes.

Government developed tax tracker. Used to be great. The "my deductions" section is what everyone uses and for some reason it's now buried in a menu. Please move the my deductions" to the opening page as a shortcut otherwise I basically won't use the app, I'll just record the amount in my notes. "My deductions" us all the app is good for so I don't know why it's been moved. Edit: note for the developer - put a quick link to "my deductions" on the page after you log in. That's how you fix it.
