Is there anything this system DOESN'T protect? The more I navigated through the app, the more I saw what it could do. And I have the free version! I loved Avast! on my PC. Seems to be too much of a memory hog on my Samsung Galaxy S III. Otherwise, would've given it a 5-star rating. Needs to be streamlined for phones to be less cumbersome on the other running apps. Slows them down too much. Update: It's 11 years since my last review. I'm now in my 2nd year on a paid subscription for my Motorola.

Worth it. The first time I downloaded it, It caught Virus on my phone that I didn't even know about. Yes, The ads of the free version are a little annoying, but it typically only gives you one or two during your basic run down. It's better than having no protection. Plus you can just purchase the no ads thing. It also continues to scan in the background to make sure they catch stuff that actively tries to mess stuff up. 100% Try it out. Been using it for a good minute now. Hasn't failed me once.
What do you mean my payment has failed, I pay for the year, & is not even due yet, (April). You try to stop the constant ads to upgrade to highest tier, but you can't, even with given instructions..Subtract one star.. Oh, yes AND the scheduled scans aren't working, you set them constantly, yet NO scan.. Avast is starting to prove they can't be trusted.. Not renewing, subtracting another star..😠
I like this app very much if you have the regular version. I made the mistake of signing up for one of the advertising promos when logging off one day. I signed up for the $1.99 per month monitoring a step down from the $2.99 a month. I paid the first month right then and the service started. Well the next month came and they charged me $19.99 and some fee that totaled $21 and some change. This was going to be my fee per month. I cancelled the next day and requested a refund. No refund.
I have been using avast for years. I have NEVER been dissatisfied with them and never had my computer or phone go down to a virus. **Since this review avast has gone downhill terribly. Everything is seperated into different apps that you have to pay different subscriptions for. I can't get it to stop notifying me of products I don't want, it just leaves the notification up there for me to buy more apps. Garbage nonsense barely even works. Do better.
The app was working for 6 months. Today ,all of a sudden , it stops working. ..."We were unable to connect to the server".... that's the error message. I have internet connection and it states it can't connect or no internet connection. I un-installed and re installed. I don't have an Email so I can contact your tech solution department . sucks bc it was working fine before today.
BEWARE before subscribing! The app does work well, however, trying to cancel this subscription is impossible!!!! When you go to cancel your subscription & request a refund you are directed to page upon page of information that is confusing and gets you nowhere! I am a senior, disabled and I on a fixed income and now I'm in the whole for over $66 in subscription fees that I cannot afford! 😡 The cancellation policy is not easy to understand or I would have had my refund already!! 😡
The app is good but they are constantly trying to get you to purchase more options by scaring you with "you are not fully protected" messages after a screening. This is misleading and incredibly annoying. They should say you've passed all the tests, but if you would like more security then... instead of red lights and exclamation points.
I mean, really? Look, Avast: I know I have apps I rarely use in addition to apps I never use and need to delete. But, some of those rarely used apps I DO want to keep, even though I use them rarely. Why the heck would you ask me if I want to free up space by deleting apps WITHOUT ALLOWING ME TO PREVIEW WHICH APPS YOU'RE TRYING TO DELETE?! That's moronic. And you made it difficult to report easy-to-fix problems (like this). Lost you 3 stars.

Best overall security app for mobile devices. Avast has been keeping my devices safe for over a decade & doesn't have a huge performance hit. It's fairly unobtrusive, sits quietly in the background, and ensures the safety of my mobile devices. Devs are responsive to issues that have arisen. The paid version is definitely worth it, especially for the peace of mind it brings even though Android is fairly secure to begin with. It caught a few things the Android system let sneak through.
Very easy to use and its constantly protecting me and warning me if there is an issue. I have not had any issues. The locking sensitive apps allow just another layer of protection. When I first downloaded the app, I loved the features and security now coming up on my third year of having the software I highly recommend it. Working in the financial world, clients who always have problems on their phone all have one thing in common. No security software. I always recommend Avast.
After the newest update there are more ads than before. I've used Avast for years so I understand the free version has ads. Having to watch 3 ads now for any scan is too much and some ads I can't close. You keep taking away features that used to be free and making it harder to use with all the ads. You're making it seem more like malware than a legitimate app.
Too many pop up notifications!! I get having products shoved in my face and ads within the app itself but I dont want told about cleaning up of junk files or locking these apps or whatever else every few hours. I want notifications about scans not something trying to be sold to me. If you cant respect me as a trial/ free user then you don't deserve me as a premium user. I paid for this for years on PC, I left for the same reason. You constantly pushed marketing notifications. Byeeee.
Scam. I paid for premium which good for a year. But recently noticed they turned OFF the VPN feature and now wants me to PAY for a feature that was SUPPOSED to be included for the term of the package. If you included something in a package at purchase, it should still be valid until it ends. Not only that, the VPN feature was only available for my phone. I had to pay more if I wanted to use it on my pc. What's the point of being able to use it across devices if you cant get all the same features
User friendly, low cost, and doesn't use a lot of battery and system resources. One thing I would add for possible fufure improvement is that if the Avast can add multiple web browsers into the monitoring list (currently, it only allows for the primary browser) it may add more value to the software. Well, just a thought. Great app, and I would definitely recommend this to my friends.
The app isn't speeding up my tablet. It's bogging it down. And there are several hours a day that I'm not using it, yet it decides to get busy while I'm trying to use my tablet. And it wants attention for everything. I want it to do its thing silently. Instead it's putting me behind schedule. I have to say this here because I can't find the solution elsewhere. I don't recall the PC version being this annoying. I had already limited the notifications to what was important only. Still dem...
Quick/EASY PEACE OF MIND If you're looking for something quick and easy to navigate then tap install. It directs you through the entire set-up and explains everything (for us non tech people 😉). Now I can be at peace knowing my info is protected. Granted NOTHING is 100% ,but when you have protection it makes it more difficult for those "bad people and apps". This tends to cause them to move on to an easier target. Good luck and stay safe. Mostly, use your common sense. 😀😉😉
Although I know the ultimate goal is to get people to purchase your product, and I know it's Christmas time ( the best time to sell a product); I'm really frustrated with dealing with the daily reminder ads that require a multi-step process to delete. Please stop this unnecessary annoyance. The free version of the app I have is fantastic & currently all I need at this time.
Persistent toolbar notification is "required" in order to protect? I'm getting more and more disappointed in Avast as it starts to act more and more like malware across devices with constant popups and up-sells. I've used Avast for many years but I'm thinking it's time to find something new, it's almost as annoying as having actual malware on your device :( Edit: I'm frustrated by this because I pay yearly for Avast but it's still like this. It's always trying to up-sell more.
Been using avast on both my PC and phone for a while now, and the free version is great at what it does! Never had any issues with it, as the app is easy to use, and I would definitely recommend it as a free mobile security option. I have it set to scan my device every day, and it doesn't drain my battery. Also has options to optimize your device.
