Basmo is perfect for keeping up with how much you read per day, week, year. It keeps record of the books you're reading, have read, want to read. It helps you set reading goals and keep them. I set a goal of 30 books for 2024. I thought I might read 15. I recorded reading 43 on Basmo. There were others I read, but they were on my Kindle, which I fell in love with also and got to where I would sometimes forget to turn on the Basmo app. Do everything you can to help you read more!
Great app for keeping track of your reading. It's not exactly perfect but it's definitely the best app out there for keeping a solid reading schedule. To Basmo: There are a few things that I think would improve the app. -When you add a new book, you should be able to put the page number/chapter you're currently on. Not everybody is going to be starting every book from page 1. -Tracking by page number doesn't work well for audiobooks. Should be able to track by chapter as well.
Pretty good! Still a little buggy at times(titles will not add to my collections). But i love how you can organize them in different collections. I wish there was a way to add notes for titles that you just added and marked as finished. You can only add notes when you start a session. So i end up starting a session and just marking it as read, since I've already finished it. I enjoy how easy it is to add titles, as it lets me add books in different languages with ease.
I love the concept. I love that you can edit items in your sessions. BUT it's very buggy. I was unable to edit pages on my second sessions and app crashed every time while trying to edit the page number. This has happened during the free trial, day one. I was sold on getting the membership but due these bugs, I'm not sure that I'll be paying for it after the 7 days are up. Will reconsider if these issues are fixed.
Doesn't scan. The whole reason I downloaded this app was the capability the app description listed about scanning in order to read later. I follow the directions I found online but the screen to scan/snap a picture of a book page doesn't work. I've tried multiple times over the last couple of months and it continues to freeze upon clicking "scan page" and it never scans. I then exit the app and re-open to try again and still freezes/fails.
The app says it catelogues your books. It even asks if that is your main goal for the app on start up. I had hopes of entering my entire Library within the app, so I could scroll through and choose a genre that interested me. However, it seems to only catalogue books READ, not by books intended to read later. I am unsure why a person would need this feature or why it bothered to ask at start up. The selection changed nothing. I enjoy the rest of the features though.
I used this to track a book I am reading, and it let's you time your reading sessions and how many pages you read, but after you record 3 sessions, you have to pay before you can track anymore. It's upsetting because it's easy to use and it thought it'd be okay, but I guess I understand having to pay, it's just aggravating. Just give me a free version with ads 🙄
You can only track a "reading session" which is recorded immediately and it's based on the timespan. There are many options missing: You can't put in the amount of pages you read yesterday, you can't prioritize or set a goal for the number of pages you read (it's always about the reading time which isn't interesting to me at all), there are no statistics about the pages you read. The app tracks only your reading time and if you want to start a tracker each time you touch a book: Perfect app.
This is a wonderful app. I was so excited when I found out something like this exsists. The reason why I gave it two stars is that I wish having multiple reading sessions could be in the free version. I'm the type of reader to read little bits throughout the day, which causes me to have many reading sessions. Because of this, I've quickly run out of sessions. I don't have a credit card so I can't pay for the full version and get more sessions which makes me shy away from the app. :(
Cool app but when I read it logs way less than the actual time that I read, when I open the book to check the reading for the day it may say 30min but when I check the daily goal it says that I've been reading for 7 minutes or so. Also, when I go to the bar statistics I can double click a bar and it grows? Not sure if this is supposed to hapen but it is so weird. And I can also log more pages than the actual book has and does not throw error? The app is very buggy overall.
I thought to myself like that's a great app, I can set a goal, keep track of the books I read and write notes. Also, it doesn't have any ads and pretty easy to use. Awesome, right? Well, no. This app has a thing called "session". Basically you start a timer when you read and it helps you to measure the time you read. However you have only one session per day! I hate seeing a great idea wasted like this to gain money by developers.
This app has lots of potential, I love the timed reading sessions, reading goal by year, and writing notes. But it still needs lots of fixing. First, when reading a book, we should be able to add progress by page or percentage. And many more. It's not been updated since 2024, but I'm keeping my hopes up.
I can see how it can help people read more, but for the free plan - one session a day? It's too little for people who like to read sporadically, and switch to different books in a day. I was so excited to have an app to track my books and thoughts on them, but I was quickly disappointed that only the premium plan could provide that. Also adding pictures doesn't work. hope the Basmo team can make some changes in the way of reading sessions, because this is a great concept.
UI isn't great, most books don't have a cover and look ugly. If you are a free user it won't let you read the book. What's the point of even having this app then? I can't buy it because of region restrictions, and you can't use it for free. Just make a payed app then, why pretend you have features for free users. You deserve 0 stars, but that's not possible, so I give you 1 single star
My god can't believe how fast the app starts nagging for a subscription. I mean it doesn't even have some of the basic features of Goodreads such as marking progress in % and a lot more I didn't have time to explore since it irritated me beyond anything that it suddenly wouldn't let me continue the session after I spent all that time filling out the books I read this year thinking I'd be using this app for a long time. What a waste of time.
In books that I add manually, the covers always have a habit of disappearing. When I scan the pages, they don't end up saving and won't load no matter how long. This is a server host problem, and the app's buggy as a garden (not that strong code wise as well), performance is honestly embarrassing, wrong statistics, bad output etc.
I like the app, but it's far better on iOS than android. The android app barely works. I can't add a new book manually as the integration with my phone camera is glitching out, and the app doesn't communicate with my phone gallery (s23 ultra). It won't let books be added without a cover, so I'm stuck.
I was excited about the whole concept because I could see how it could really help with my reading but I find it pretty useless if I dont pay for the premium. It only gives me 1 session a day so kind of defeats the purpose of "tracking my reading" part. I can see why the pictures and other stuff could only be used for the premium but the 1 session per day was got me to uninstall it. At least give 5 sessions per day then unlimited could be for the premium, otherwise I dont see a point 😅
I use the free version and it is so easy to use and track reading books. It encouraged me to start reading more and the idea of tracking reading through 'streaks' is something I find encouraging. Would recommend this app if you struggle with organising thoughts around reading, as well as if you just need motivation to read more.
It's ok, but has some bugs. I have added my own categories, including "Own but have not read," "Own and have read," "Finished," "Want to read," "Currently reading," and "Finish later." The problem I have is that these are not exclusive. The books should not be able to exist in multiple categories.
