As an avid fan of the PC version of this, I was so happy to find a mobile alternative. I would have given it 5 stars, but I had a lot of issues with trying to calibrate the delay before the levels were playable. I did eventually figure it out (I set the OGG delay to 0), but it was mildly annoying. Other than that, gameplay was great and there's plenty of really challenging songs to improve your skills toward. Would totally reccomend if you're a fan of classic rhythm games.
Oh my goodness. Though it takes a bit of technical know-how, and a bit of preparation, I can actually play import files. That means Every Song is now available. That also means DDR mixes are on Mobile 🔥 That Also also means I can make my own step charts and play them on Mobile too? 🤯 My only gripe so far after a week is the lack of Song Speed options, and the lack of Metronome for training purposes. But other than those, this app is a solid app.
It's amazing! The only problem I had was note skins not working. It is okay though, the default one is good already so it will stay 5 stars. Unlike other mobile rhythm games, it let's you download songs and play them instead of the preset weird songs most other games have. There are barely any ads and it seems like the dev(s) actually put heart into this and didn't just make one of those ad-infested games. I love it, and I'm probably buying the full version soon.
Use to be a very very good ap for years, but latest update, that came out of no where after 2+ years, has actually caused it to lag in the menus and after you finish a song, when you try to select a new one it doesnt let you. Idk what the devs are doing, but man, :(, good app though if those big issues are fixed. (Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it's had a good track record for a long time till now)
This is pretty impressive via touchscreen once you get the syncing figured out. Edit: after a while I noticed the sound always switches itself back on after closing / reopening the app, and I don't mean the menu bgm which stays off. That God awful applause sound when you've bested an old score stays on no matter what you do, which is compounded by the game forgetting what your actual high score in some songs resulting in ear-r-... violation... at the end of every song.
After you find out how to upload the songs, it's really fun. I mean down load the songs . It's so much content if you like this sort of game. I'm considering getting the pad for this. I mean it's stepmania. It also has a way to edit how the menus look if you can figure it out. There's no hand holding
There are bugs I'd like to mention. (1) The announcer combos are too early. (e.g. The announcer says "100 combos!" when I only have 98 or 99 combos.) (2) The game lists Beginner charts from DWI files as Unknown, and it doesn't even find Double charts from DWI files! Also, on the song selection screen, Beginner is misspelled as "Beginer". Other than that, I bought the full version, and I don't want to stop playing this game when I'm on the go!
So I downloaded this and played with my fingers, loved it. Then I turned on my bluetooth controller (ps4) . Now I cant stop playing. I bought a fanny pack to carry my controller around so I can always play. The delay is finicky but it is extremely fixable in the settings. Also some maps are done horribly. Speaking of which, you can just download stepmania songs for the game it's so easy. I have thousands of songs and it only took an hour of time to collect them. This is the most fun app.
There's a small charge for getting rid of the small banner ads and the 10 second wait time after playing some songs, but it's absolutely worth it. A ton of rhythm games on the play store are just gacha grabs or IAP nightmares. This is just stepmania for your phone. Infinite possibilities for song choice, good options, an awesome game I'd recommend to anyone who likes rhythm games.
Great to have stepmania on mobile but be aware there are many settings to adjust. I personally adjusted the mp3 offset along with my input offset (both are 0.0) for the best experience (for me at least). Also, please be aware that when you download a beatmap pack they take up a lot of storage. Other than those two things everything else is self explanatory and the app is very fun and nostalgic.
Good game. I personally think that this game needs a little more work and there needs to be more then only 3 demo songs. Think it should have a little bit more of variety when it comes to the basic background when you boot up the game. That's why I gave a 4 out of 5. Very good game for when you're bored. In my opinion I think would be fun if they put a multiplayer mode where you can scan the web for people that you can play against. Besides that I think it is a very fun game!
I like the game and concept, but I feel like I'm just button mashing through songs and finger positions are awkward for touch screen, where as with games like Deemo/cytus it feels "fluid". I know they are different styles, but, its not much fun for me to basically just hit all 4 arrows at nearly the same time through a whole song.
Im going to preface this by saying that I am trash at rhythm games. I usually uninstall them after a few minutes because they're not fun for me. However, this one was an exception. It was definitely hard, but actually enjoyable. It had good songs instead of the same pop mixes you find in every other music tap game. And on top of all that, it was easy to navigate, AND you didn't have to pay to access all the songs! Minimal ads, and great graphic design. This game is one that 5/5.
This app has a problem extracting large music pack files which is very inconvenient. Other than that obvious flaw I can't overlook how much fun it is to play. The calibration settings works really well and the fact I can get a hold of my favorite music packs in a convenient way, makes this another awesome rhythm game I can add to my collection.
"A Portable Stepmania" I actually installed this before and was initially turned off by the Settings. But due to COVID-19 Lockdown, I got a lot of time on my hands and was able to finally understand the Settings. It's not bad at all! In fact, I was impressed! It's like having Stepmania that's readily available in your pocket! It even allows you to load Simfiles and play them! Please add the option for an arrow layout similar to a PC keyboard's U-D-L-R arrows. Thank you!
Cool game, but involved when it comes to accessing songs, but doable if you really want to. More to add; So after playing for a while have noticed that almost all of the downloaded songs from step mania and all in challenge mode and you are unable to change difficulty, and I am sorry, but most of them aren't even worth trying to play on challenge as it's too ridiculous for beginners or intermediate. Wish the songs were available with a medium or even hard so I at least have a chance.
this is an exceptional mobile rhythm game! as a pc rhythm gamer with my pc out of comission, this is a great replacement for my obsession! its all very familiar to pc versions, making a comfortable substitute. my only issue that keeps me from a 5-star is the tapping controls. since i play this on a phone, restricting my taps to the middle on the arrows causes my wrist to cramp up. i was hoping if maybe there can be an option to have tile taps, where the entire screen is sectioned into 4 parts?
It's really hard to set up files in beatx in TV, there's not even a "demo songs" in TV that you can play, you literally have to install a song. And so I did. When I'm unpacking it. There's a error. it said: "unpack failed no storage space" I literally have so much free storage so I tried it again and again still didn't work to this day
The game itself is well done and I use it to keep up my reading ability. The reason for 3 stars is I paid to remove the rather annoying delay when you load a song, but if you don't have an active data connect it adds back the delay. I get DRM but that's just stupid, especially having the "buy the full version" button when I already have.
This game is overall a very good game however one thing u should know is that u have to download other songs if u want to play more another thing Is there isn't a way to pause while ur playing. (not that I've found) also this is just me nitpicking but I don't really like the fonts chosen for this game- other than that it's very fun best mobile rythm game I've found.
