This app worked great for the first day I had it. Now all I get is a notification that says "could not connect to server, please check connection" whenever I open it. inconveniently this started happening RIGHT before my scheduled appointment I already paid for. It's not my phone, every other app works fine. I've tried without wifi, disabling ad blocks, reinstalling it etc and nothing has worked. It's extremely frustrating and disappointing considering I just spent nearly $300 to use this app.
There is a lot to cover, but all-in-all, a very easy to use app, and my experience with my therapist has been 10 out of 10 helpful, knowledgeable & understanding. If you are even just thinking about therapy, give it a try. You can switch therapists at any time if you aren't feeling the right connection. Worst case, just cancel if it's not what you expected. But the upside is you get some much needed help.
they do not take insurance. they will increase what you are paying over time and will charge extra if you have an additional video calls. quality of the video calls were pretty aweful. constantly had to repeat myself or ask the therapist to repeat herself. when I reached out to them about quality they extended my subscription by 1 week then charged me 25$ for the video sessions. texting does not relay emotion and so that was something I never used. I was charged 731$ for 3 months.
Giving this 2 stars for the app. Not the therapy. I went through a tough financial burden and couldn't afford to see therapist anymore. Thats fine. I could still log in and at least journal. But now it won't even let me log into my account without authorizing payment first. I find it ridiculous that the monthly price includes using the app. I thought seeing a therapist was what costed money. Not using the journal or other features. Now I don't have access to my journal. Heartbreaking.
Though it would be billed per session, but it's not. it's just a subscription to speak to actually good therapists. It's a really good tool at first. just not a good tool for those who actually have minimal finances. I have to cancel because I can't afford $195 per month, that's with the financial support. Good app with great design, amazing therapists, easy to use, but it's not an affordable option for those looking for it.
Some of the counselors view telehealth as a chance to catch up on paperwork for face-to-face clients, but there are good therapists who will give undivided attention. It may just take some tryouts. Otherwise, the service includes plenty of daily courses to supplement the interview sessions, and the journal feature makes it easy to share entries with counselors. One addition I'd like to see is a search feature in the message thread.
The app and service are great. The therapist is had was wonderful. The service though can be very cost prohibitive. Since you have to prepay monthly for 4 sessions every month and then book these sessions. Even though the service is great $320 a month can be a tough expense to keep up with. Alternative options would be nice to have such as pre paying for 1, 2 , or 3 sessions. So if you only feel you need one or two visits a month you could do that. Or book and pay for sessions as needed.
Even when they are doing nothing for you, absolutely nothing, you are getting charged. 4 weeks of charges, intermittent back and forth, a referral, and not one word of any therapy occurred. Unless you arecan expert at getting therapy and know how to push for what you want or need, you'll just keep getting charged week after week with nothing happening.
I'm new to the app but already I am getting very frustrated that it doesn't want to stay logged in. if I don't have the app on my screen for more than 5 minutes when I go back to it , it doesn't recognize the device and makes me do the verification code thing everytime or if I hit the back button and accident. also I dont like that there's no option to see password when typing it in. Just seems like some kinks need to be worked out.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. What a ridiculous experience! You pay a very expensive weekly amount, just for this app to tell you it will take 24-48 hours to match with a therapist! Wild! Seems to me like they shouldn't charge you until you can actually utilize the actual therapy! You're literally paying money to wait. No help at all! Thanks!
I really like the service, but the last couple of updates to the app have made typing in the journal incredibly difficult. The space isn't moving up, so I can't see what I'm typing after the first few lines. The keyboard hides it and then switching back and forth from keyboard to what I've typed is challenging and I constantly get the cursor in the wrong spot. Please fix this. The biggest reason I use this over other options is for the typing.
I paid for "unlimited" appointments, but they're only 30 minutes long, and you can't schedule more than one in advance. You pay whether you can actually get an appointment or not. My first therapist completely missed our second appointment, without even a follow-up, so I switched to another once. That therapist cancelled a few hours before our third appointment. Not worth $260/ month.
The app no longer functions on android. I keep getting an error saying "cannot conncet to server" i've gone through all the troubleshooting steps including turning off my phone for 10 minutes and trying again and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. It works on my ipad though but i dont always have my ipad on me. I would love for this to get fixed. Otherwise it's good!
My current therapist has been great! Took a few before I found a match-expected. And the app is becoming more annoying to work with. Seems like they make it difficult to schedule for the current week but they will charge you regardless of if you get a session on the schedule, so make them in advance. The notifications don't seem to work. But it constantly pops up to leave reviews. So here ya go. Take full advantage of the group sessions! Might go back to Cerebral b/c of app annoyance. 🤷♀️
There is better help. This is not it. I went through weeks of therapy only to be dropped by my therapist with no reason or warning. The price is also very high. I would much rather use the hundreds spent here to find a better solution. One that may even get covered by insurance. If you are debating getting this app, ok it can be a short term help in a crisis. But if you have something that is difficult and requires work, you will way over pay. You get ONE meeting a week. Policies are not same.
So you have to sign up for an allotted time, then you can try to schedule with a counselor. They seem to be booking out at least a week, so consider that when taking on the fee. I did 4 week, have yet to talk to someone on week 3.. had an appointment tonight, but between the app and the website I wasn't able to get connected on any of my devices for over 30 minutes. When I canceled my subscription, it just stopped the auto re subscription. But did not reimburse me for the time I have left.
The option to have therapy online/through my phone and it being convenient to reach my therapist has definitely helped with my anxiety. There's alot of convenience as well as to getting to pick your therapist based on their bio, and what you're comfortable with, and also being able to have multiple types of communication. I do enjoy they Journal aspect as well, and gives me a daily assignment to look forward to without having to force myself to come up with a prompt that would take forever.
No. It's been 2 weeks and they wanna charge me more in a few weeks and I haven't had a session because of reschedule. I was charged 234 on top of that and they wanna charge more every 4 weeks???? Whoa. I thought I paid for like a few months when they charged me. What was that amount for then? I expected more communication. I personally don't see the worth. Plus that app is buggy. 👋
So I do not recommend this app if you are low income. I was considering using Better Help because where I live there are not many options that take my health insurance. You go thru a detailed questionnaire. It was very thorough. But then they get to pricing. I was disappointed to learn they don't take health insurance! They wanted to charge $65 per week regardless if you see a therapist or not. Unacceptable. That's over $200/month. They only offered me 10% financial aid. It's not affordable!
Misleading. This is not a service that pairs you with an appropriate therapist who wants to work with you. The intake form basically asks if you depressed or have anxiety, and every therapist who also checked those boxes is shown, which is all of them who want a paycheck. Its not detailed enough, It's the yellow pages under therapy. It doesn't help narrow your options or find someone who specializes in the therapy you need.
