It's ok, but needs improvements. I've successfully placed an order for pickup and picked it up as well as used Express pay. with express pay, I had to enter my payment information multiple times, even though I said to save it. coupons NEED to be EXPLICITLY clear in their terms (min. $ spent required, not just ANY which is false). I need to be able to see if I qualified for the 50 cents off gas reward and when it will expire. it shows nowhere. There are positives, but needs LOTS of improvements.
The app keeps freezing. I tried uninstall reinstall and still same issue. It keeps getting stuck on the log in screen saying "Great to see you again!" then nothing happens. Very frustrating. I only use the scan and pay or pickup option so if the app doesn't work properly, why continue the membership? I will probably not renew at the end of this membership term due to the ongoing issues with the app. 😔
App stopped working and freezes up. Sometimes you can scroll up/down, but nothing opens when you click on it. I installed the app, reinstalled and now it's stuck while logging in on the screen that says, Great to see you again! You are currently being signed in." UPDATE 1/22/26: I love that BJs thanks me for my comments and doesn't fix the problems with the app. I've read other reviews that have the same issues. I wish I could give 0 stars!
My biggest issue with this app is that when i open it and select an item, it automatically closes the app. cant add anything to my cart, cant clip coupons, can scan items in store, cant place an order. i checked for updates, ive forced closed/cleared cache, ive uninstall and reinstalled. the app tells me that there might be a bug that needs fixed. s25 ultra on and off wifi with a restarted phone. i have my home delivery benefits that i cant use so i shop at closer stores out of convenience.
The in-store app won't recognize I am in a store and so the express pay won't work. I am connected to the wifi and spent 30 minutes trying to get it to work as I shopped. Clipping the coupons is so annoying and if it's a 5x it has to be reclipped every time I try to use it. The main reason for the app for me is easier checkout.
Update to my previous review: While it is now easier to use coupons, the app still needs a lot of work. I wanted to buy an item as a gift for a friend. I put the item in my cart, and went to checkout. I selected the shipping option and then added my friends address. Unfortunately I made a type-o and entered the wrong house number. Would you believe that there is NO WAY to edit or delete a shipping address? I had to call and speak to someone from the app support team, luckily he was fantastic.
The app never goes off the main page and I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I have no access to any clipless coupons and lost out on a big one for LEGO that the store wouldn't help me on. I'm done with BJ'S if they don't sort out their app issues. And when I went to the service desk, they told me there's nothing they can do and "it happens all the time".....
First let me say I like BJ'S products and pricing are great, however their app is frustrating. While trying to do an order the website constantly locks up it takes forever to find the items wanted and get them added and then check out. It took me over 2 hours to order and check out one order. And forget trying to add anything later, even though it says you can add items you forgot. That is almost impossible to do, even when pickup time is over 12 hours away.
This app has become a hindrance lately. I can no longer scan items for coupons in store because they never show up anymore. I can still clip them by searching for the item and then clip the coupon on the item page, but this adds a lot of time to the process. I used to like shopping at BJ's because the app made it easy but now it's tedious. I usually get $20-30 in coupons on big trips so I'm not going to just pass up on that. I can't wait for Costco to open in my area in a few months.
The app is painfully slow... good luck if you need to adjust anything in your cart. added extra item you want to delete? 2 minutes for app to respond. have a coupon the cart offers for clipping? 2 minutes for the app to respond. want to switch to pick up from delivery? if you're lucky, 2 minutes. otherwise restart app 5 times. for having a decent layout and features, it's crazy how unresponsive it is
Such a big convenience. The only inconvenience is when buying perishable food... especially dairy. For pickup, I feel like im always given the batch expiring next day. No biggie tho, I take it back inside to trade for a later date. This is still less time spent inside the store that I originally would've spent had I picked out all of my items myself.
Trying to renew my membership. Added membership to cart and tried to checkout. tried three times with 2 different cards. kept getting a processing error. also in the app there is a link to manage in BJs Easy Renewal that does nothing. I click on it and nothing happens. Ive tried on a couple of different drives and ensured I have the most recent version of the app. I've also cleared my cookies and cache.
App is terrible! It will not respond if you try to make changes to the auto renewal. (probably not legal). It seems to be impossible to change your BJs Club, find club hours, or find information on other clubs when traveling. An app is nearly worthless when Google always ends up being 100 times faster. UPDATE: I did uninstall and reinstall the app with no changes. I was told at the service desk, that members are no longer able to manage their Easy Renewal in the app or online.
At one point I was able to use the app, not anymore. I put in my information, click sign in, and I get to watch a check mark fill over, and over, and over.... Uninstall, clear cache, nothing works. Attempt to sign in on the website and right over to the app. For a split second I was signed in, just to be greeted with a sign in page and it signed me out.
It makes zero sense for this app to be this bad. You always have to "force stop" or leave the app and re-open. Shopping by category only works once, then you have to leave the app again. Glitches when trying to go to your cart and gets stuck loading. Absolutely ridiculous and horrible shopping experience. It's bad enough some items are "sold out" for delivery but are available for pick-up.
I recently gave a 1-star rating because of issues I was having since they last updated the app. After emailing them, I discovered my membership ID was no longer linked. I was able to figure out how to link it back to my account. I was having issues clipping coupons and it was asking me to log back in over and over. The app kept crashing. I have a Samsung so I don't know if this was an Android issue or what. Now it's working with no issues.🤞 Hopefully this can help someone else out.
Useless app. It crashes upon opening. I have waited almost a month to see if the issue would resolve itself through an update or something, but now I'm uninstalling. I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. No other app responds to opening by crashing. They responded saying they were addressing my concerns. They never addressed my concerns. In fact, it's 4 months later and it still crashes after 30 seconds.
App has issues when using dark mode phone setting. In order to see the barcode at the end, you HAVE to turn the phone dark mode off. After that, you HAVE to force stop the app and restart, then the barcode can be seen. I think a good 1/2 hour was wasted just trying to get that figured out, and as it was, they checked my card against my phone to get me out. This should be a simple fix. On the barcode page, just don't use the phone's display setting.
I use this app. very often, w/o problems. Today was different - I had to keep re-scanning everything in my cart because there were "errors" or things just disappeared. I had scanned 20 items and when I scanned a couple more things it was like a new cart was started, so I had to scan everything another time. When I went to pay, it said that there was an error and I needed to go though the register (which was backed WAY up and would have taken a LONG time.) I deleted the cart and scanned AGAIN.
When Express Shopping in store, the scanner/camera goes black each and every time the phone screen shuts off, even if I exit out of the scan portion of the app and go to another section. If I'm in the middle of a shopping session, I have to completely close out the app and reopen it in order to access the scanner again. This is highly annoying and has been happening for a long time now. It also happens on an iPhone, so it's the BJ's app, not the phone or OS.
