Blackboard

The app is slow and laggy. It has this weird bug where you click on a course and then it goes white for a bit then refreshes to the main page. the second time you click on the course it works fine. Also, it crashed on me twice when taking a quiz. Luckily the quiz progress was automatically saved but it was still stressful. Uploading certain file types is unintuitive and large files take forever to upload even with fast WiFi speeds. Also some embedded links don't work.

Canvas is a much better app to use than this blackboard app. It's very slow and doesn't have everything that is needed in order to successfully achieve the most basic action for your educational purposes. On canvas, you automatically stay logged in, it's faster and convenient to use for each course. You don't have to use the actual website on your computer because the canvas app let's you do everything while on the go. You can complete assignments, exams, attend actual online video lectures, etc

Last semester the app worked perfectly fine on my android, between semesters there was an update, and now it logs me out almost every time I open it and it constantly says "there's a problem our end" whenever I try to do anything. I can't check my grades, I can't open anything for any of my classes. I'm the type of person who likes to check on my grades and due dates a lot, and needing to be near a computer everytime I get an email that something updated kinda sucks.

one of the worst management apps of all time. the app does not save your login, so you have to manually log in every time you open the app. this log in does not work with password managers, so you will have to manually enter your email and password every single time. even after you log in and enter the app, it does not immediately update any new class information, instead taking even more time. submitting assignments through the app also doesn't work half the time. this app is awful.

Mega frustrating having to log in each time I access the app. I might as well use the website! The inconvenience defeats the purpose of my downloading the app in the first place. It *was* nice knowing when I got feedback on assignments, but now? Forget it. Edit: The login problem seems to be fixed now. Edit (10/6/25): Once again encountering login issues. :/ 10/11/25: Still having issues accessing my classes. "Something's not right" is not a useful message.

It sucks a lot. Half the reason I downloaded the app was for convenience but its soooo clunky compared to the website. you have to log in every single time which takes like 2 minutes just to get on the app, it has a poor set up and is extremely hard to navigate, and I don't even get notifications about grades or announcements. Just use the website, having the app does nothing for you.

it's bad. really bad. I'm an instructor, I only use the app so I can get notifications of student messages over the weekends. half of the time, I can't even access my messages. it infinitely loads or loads in the wrong screen, and I have to close and reopen the app over and over hoping it will work the next time. then, I get logged out randomly with no warning, so I don't even get the notifications I have the app for. no warning, just students going without help on the weekend. do better.

I have been using the app for a little over a year now. The app does not fit to the screen of my phone and for whatever reason, doesn't scroll. Consider this issue with discussion boards: I can see the left half of each post but cannot scroll to view the entire thing. What perplexes me the most is the inability to scroll. Beyond frustrating when I'm just trying to access the course and read.

Genuinely the worst designed app I'm subjected to using on a daily basis. My bank app can keep me signed in for months, the blackboard app can't even go a single day without making me sign in again. Everything is sooooooo incredibly slow to load, the whole thing feels like (and probably mostly is) just the exact code of the website put into an app because they look nearly identical with zero attempts to use the functionality of a phone app. Forget notifications or anything like that.

It is quite literally unusable. You better have a computer to access your school work because this app is not sufficient. You cannot view videos properly, and when trying to type responses, the entire page jitters, making it impossible to read what you've typed. It also randomly decides not to register keyboard input. The gradebook, arguably the only thing the app is good for, is hidden in menus, making the process take way longer than it should.

Sucks. Makes you log in with every use and doesn't save your login info so you have to retype it every time. Struggles to open courses. Shows you all the courses you've ever had even though the filter is set to current semester. Currently unable to open some courses because when I click on it I get a full screen pop up telling me to do my end of course survey and buttons don't work to either do it now or later. App is useless. More time consuming than just doing it on your computer.

This app isn't terrible. It gets the job done, but the last update is causing for half of my things (including grades) not to show up the right way. When it is properly working, it does what it's intended to do. Just know that you cannot always see some things that are there when you get on a computer. The app isnt capable to show and do everything. After two updates, I am still having issues opening things I used to be able to see or open. I can't even see my grades anymore.

I tried using app again for SP24. Uninstalled it again. I still can't post an announcement without it adding double, triple, etc spacing when trying to make an announcement longer than "Hello class"!! Attendance blanks out, forcing me to crack open my computer. What's the point of having an app when you cant really use it! And, the desktop version still wipes out whatever you typed if you make a screen adjustment!

App is ok. It is really annoying though, that even though you tell the app to remember you, you have to log in as if it was the first time every single time you open the app... other than that it's not bad. Edit: the app got worse with each update... Im deleting it and adding a bookmark on my home screen. At elast on chrome I dont have to log in every hour

I have been using this app as a supplement to using my computer for online classes. The best use it has is to respond to people's discussion board posts when I am not toting my computer around. That being said, it lacks in a few places. 1. There is no local Host for PDFs. 2. same for PowerPoint. 3. Same for audio. I think that being able to study and work on homework in a handheld format would be a big improvement.

Update 2: For a while, they actually had fixed it where you wouldn't need to log. in. every. freaking. time! Now, it's literally useless again. Logging me out, being extremely annoying. Update: They say it's a security feature (having to log in every.. single..time), but I call BS. For the past year that I've been in college, this has NEVER been a thing, and NOW they're concerned about security? Nah, man. If it's annoying the majority of us, isn't it your duty to then make things easy?

This app is very slow. Takes many minutes just to load my course page and then even more time to get into the course I want. Also, It logs me out very frequently, which it gets very annoying. I'll get a pop up stating my session has ended. Honestly, it's waste of my time I'd rather use the desktop version or not use the app at all.

Doesn't work as well as it should. It's for college students so everything should work properly. Certain assignments do not appear. For some assignments, you need another app in order to complete. Also, when responding to class discussions, no word count is displayed which is inconvenient. This app could and should be a lot better. I use my laptop for the most part since the app falls short.

constantly having issues. grades haven't been accessible and neither have due dates or the full calendar. So frustrating! And it always comes with red banner warning at the bottom of the screen stating that there is an error on your end. Get it together! --the above was posted in April '25. Every time I use the app I have to log back in. If I'm logged in and I open a pdf file from the app, it opens separately in pdf viewer, and when I go back to blackboard it logs me out again because I left the app. I went to turn on push notifications and the setting isn't even available. Even with email notifs turned on through my laptop, I still don't get updates. I was never really a fan of blackboard but lately it's been even worse than it used to be. Extremely frustrated!!
