In theory this should be a very handy app. In practice I found its usefulness limited due to poor mobile signal inside many museums and/or flaky or non-existent free wi-fi. I know it's not the app's fault if the venue can't be bothered to provide reliable access but it would nice if tours could be downloaded for offline use - I couldn't find any way to do that
bad navigation, needs more fluid transitions from entry to entry. Specifically: it feels like the developers have never used it to actually move through an exhibit. At every documented piece, the user must enter a multi digit code or pan/click a drawing of the facility. Click play. Go back to the previous screen and hop around within the app. It would be easier if you just had field to enter the number and it just plays the audio, then let's you enter another number without opening more screens.
Lovely idea but this is the s-l-o-w-e-s-t app ever. It opens, loops, hangs, flashes a map, hangs...I'm sorry, I'd love to use an app that does what it says it does. The problem is...it doesn't. Off to find something more reliable
False Advertising. App ads claim you can find all these amazing museums and get all this knowledge on them. Thought, hey, I can use it for my upcoming trip to Nashville. So, download it and discover there aren't any museums in Nashville?? Turns out a simple internet search, or going to trip advisor does a better job.
It seems like a decent amount of information on sites to see in NYC and part of the UK, but many parts of the US the number of cultural sites suggested seems disappointing. Even rather large cities like Los Angeles there aren't a ton of suggestions and most are rather notable museums that any travel guide would likely mention. Even many large cities in Europe where there are no shortage of museums and cultural sites there isn't much so question how useful this is outside of NYC.
I was baffled when I first used the app. I live in Norwich and none of the art and culture was listed barring the Radar Museum. However I understand you are trying to add more all the time. I will email and ask you to include more local art and museums so that all may find them. The app otherwise looks good and may prove useful on holidays and short trips.
Deleting. It shows exactly 1 place for my state, but I know of many that cost nothing. I was just hoping to find some more. It pushes you to travel to Philadelphia and Baltimore for the closest by not recommending more for Delaware. The premise has potential, but without anything really here outside 1, it's not worth the space on my device.
I downloaded this app because I was sick of watching the 30 second ad where the woman goes to Louis Armstrong House and then the two dudes saying this app is a game changer, blah blah blah, i keep pressing the option, do not show this ad again but it keeps showing it and I am sick of it, but it does seem a reasonable app to access the arts, but I don't want to waste my life watching these ads. Now a new ad of a bizarre manic smiling woman in London, it just gets worse.
I cannot travel. This app allows me to access culture that would have been forever out of reach. I have only begun to explore the exhibits available in this app. Already I am in awe of the curation of the art here. I hope that the breadth and scope of exhibits covered in this app match the quality of the individual videos that I have viewed so far. I would like to see the creators expand this app into the virtual reality world. I would invest in a 3D rig to explore galleries around the world.
I am in London and I struggled with this app. I expected to find a list of attractions which I could click on to find what they did and what's on at them. the interface was horrible, kept jumping around. I just can't get on with it, very disappointed.
Entries do, in fact, provide comprehensive introductions and guidance. If available, there are even video previews of exhibitions. Avid museum-goers may want to keep this app in their pocket to assist in making choices.
Please please add (much much) more content ASAP - as this app exists now, as I'm writing this, it functions okay and seems potentially highly commendable. But still, it is way way far far far off from even beginning to scratch the surface of living up to the wildly inflated claims in that annoying (but obviously effective) two-guys ad, yes that one with the two guys blah-blahing their really quite trite praises about this... lol!
Very enlightening! I appreciate the thorough explanation of the history and story behind the displays and areas of interest, although heart-wrenchinly sad.
disappointed that there is nothing listed within 3-5 hours of me. There are several museums and historical houses around the arklatex region. I anticipated at least one to show up in Shreveport, LA, alas, none... yet. I will check the app again in a couple months, before deleting it.
The information it does have is good, though rather out of date. I used it at Yorkshire sculpture park and many sculptures were no longer present. It asks for location and has a map, but does not show your location on the map. Often forgets its place and goes back to the start screen and I have to re-select the sculpture park, click through to get to the menu, wait for it to load everything up again. The map is slow, jerky, and never stays where you left it.
downloaded it because it seemed like something I would really enjoy and benefit from. immediately uninstalled it because the app is TRASH. it takes FOREVER to finally load options and then you can't actually scroll down the list to look because any time you touch the screen, it accepts it as a prompt to open whatever your finger is near. a lot of accidental opening and repetitive backtracking. I'll just use google at this point.
VERY limited. I searched the city I live in and only 1 entry. SERIOUSLY! I live in a city of over 750,000. We have numerous museums, a zoo, world renown natural wonders. In a city with 4 military bases, you can bet we have military history and museums, a children's museum, we have the national fireman's memorial, mining history. These are just off the top of my head and you only list the fine arts center. SAD! Just really sad. I get more info from a quick Google search. not worth it.
No in-app documentation. Couldn't find any of the famous museums I wanted to learn about. search for Smithsonian and it finds you some obscure place in New York. There's a built-in map that shows you the location of the museum you're looking at, but there's no navigation. There's no list of the museums that they handle. Basically unusable.
I used this at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and found it really useful. The guide is packed with interesting background info on most of the works here. The only improvements I would suggest would be to have bigger, higher resolution pictures, especially the zoomable maps. Also, it would be good to have an interactive map with markers for all of the works on it.
Needs improvements. why is it so slow - like waiting for paint to dry with each step, making it a very unpleasant experience. app asked for permission to monitor other activities on my phone - suggest you keep it simple and just impart information rather than snoop, that should speed up somewhat. uninstalled it. given that many people are complaining why aren't you improving this app - does not reflect well on Bloomberg.
