Blue apron used to be a good service. I've been with them for years and have improved my abilities as a cook from regular practice with their meals. However, the recent relaunch has been rampant with mistakes. Meals arrive with the wrong ingredient bags, missing items, with fewer meals than you've subscribed for, and with cheap tape that pulls away in transit, leaving the box fully open. Customer service takes days to respond just to tell you that it's all fine and to eat it.
I like the service itself, but the recent updates to the app have made it really hard to recommend. The new layout for choosing weekly recipes is confusing, things are generally harder to find - and worst of all, they completely removed the ability to search precious recipes via their database is gone, unless you want to scroll through all of your recent orders to find the recipe you're looking for. Really disappointing as the app used to be much better.
The app used to be great but they've made some significantl changes lately and it's almost unusable. There's no way to manage deliveries, i.e., skip certain weeks without contacting Blue Apron either by text or email. You used to be able to figure out orders 4-5 weeks in advance but now it's only a couple of weeks in advance. After at least 8 years I think I'm done with them.
The app is convenient but also confusing. There are some design flaws with it that make it challenging to use. the biggest one is the menu buttons on the bottom show up under my phone's (Galaxy) navigation so it is really hard to impossible to access the menu. Maybe it would be more helpful if I could access those.
The blue apron service is great, but the app is horrible now. ever since they changed it, I cant see what's happening with my meal selection for the current week. I cant tell what I've selected ajd haven't. Some of the navigation buttons fall below my phones native navigation buttons, so it's hard to navigate the app. Changes need to be made the app. If this continues, I'll considering another service.
Super useful, I'm no longer going hungry as that has been an issue for the past year. However, please add a feature to have a fixed assortment of recipes. Another order is about to go to waste because the app won't let me change it the recipes being delivered a week from now. I can only eat like 4 things, so me having to manually insert the very same recipes every week does make my life difficult. As for instance, with this wasted order, I know for sure I'll only be eating 1 meal a day or so.
I have been a Blue Apron user for 10 years. The app was great until the latest update. It is very difficult to see the photos from a phone with this portrait format and is difficult to know what meal you are selecting unless you click on eachto make it bigger. It also takes more clicks to view ingredients and nutrition. Please either change the app back, or at least provide the option for either portrait (current update) or landscape (the last app orientation).
My family and I have enjoys our blue apron meals. That being said, the app for this service is terrible. It doesn't let me add food preferences, for instance my daughters don't eat cheese, mushrooms, or sea food. And yet it almost always automatically picks meals for us with these ingredients. If I don't catch thee selection process in time, I'm usually disappointed. Which sucks. Also the food pictures are now so so small it makes dinner choices more work. Just bad design.
Good food, lots of options, difficult to cancel. You should be able to cancel and reenroll easily in the app. I've had orders pile up over the last couple of weeks since I keep forgetting to "skip", and now I'm on the path to a permanent cancellation, which involves emailing support... Easy in, difficult out - a prime example of a workflow designed to mislead and manipulate customers.
Do not get this service for good food. I had honestly used them for a while previously, but the menu variations didn't really change for a bit so I switched to HelloFresh instead. I came back and reactivated my account this past week because the meals looked new and appetizing so I was excited to try it out again... My box arrived a day late, they only had 1 ice pack and everything in the box was over 60 degrees. Ridiculous. Use a different service!
Horrible experience. I paused my subscription for the time being and was not notified it was being unpaused. Did not get to choose meals, did not get the option to continue pausing and it put my account in the negative. I canceled my subscription because I felt it was predatory. And now I can't even see the meals they're delivering too me! Joke of a company, subpar food, and horrible customer relations.
I ended up canceling my subscription after a year, but the food that was mailed to me was always great quality. Customer service is amazing, especially when porch pirates steal your package. The only thing that i would love to see is the menus being tweaked. Some of the menu items are way out there on being different. Sometimes, simple options are the best options. But i I will definitely continue my subscription when im done traveling for my job.
The latest update is extremely buggy. The page keeps "refreshing" whenever I start removing recipes from my box. And if I try to add two "Signature for 4" items to my box, it tells me it can't do it and forces me to clear my box. Seems like a bug. The app is practically unusable for me right now. Also, the new layout for picking recipes is really confusing. I preferred when it only used to show you the recipes for the number of servings you chose in your membership.
I heard about BA from a podcast and decided I'd give the promo a try with full intent on cancelling my subscription, but here I am a few months later. It's really inexpensive for what ends up amounting to 2-3 meals a recipe (I don't eat much in a meal) and 2 recipes a week. It's a great way to save the bunches I spend on junk food and take time by myself to chill and cook through the week. I seriously love the service and the app is so easy to use!
Sometimes good, but usually just OK. It's nice having the recipes on hand for future use. Instead of sending a reminder to select your meals or defaulting to a skipped week if you don't make any meal selections, they'll automatically charge you for the next week and send you meals they've selected for you at random. Deliveries can be delayed and ingredients are often substituted, but I can't fault them for that.
The food is good quality and I love the variety of recipes and ingredients (some of which I usually can't get locally) . But there are issues with the app. It's not keeping my meal changes and cancelations, and so it sends me stuff I'm allergic to or more food than I can store that week. If this keeps up I'll be forced to cancel my subscription altogether.
This app is the worst. Both upcoming, and "current" tabs show blank pages, and I'm unable to skip deliveries, or even see the upcoming meal options. Very frustrating. After jumping through hoops to cancel my subscription over a year ago, I just recently signed up again thinking I would give it another try (always enjoyed the meals), but forgot that the app navigation issues were one of the reasons I left in the first place. Disappointed it still doesn't work, even after updates etc. (Galaxy s9)
This app is simple and easy to navigate. You choose when you receive orders, by skipping weeks you don't want a delivery, and can pick weekly from a selection of varies meals. The recipes offered have really helped us to branch out and try new foods. The meals are equivalent to the cost of a night out. It may not be affordable weekly, but we try to order at least one week out of the month. It makes for a couple of nice at home date nights.

The app is easy to use and navigate. It shows my past, current, and upcoming orders. I love being able to plan my meals for each week based on my schedule. I also love the flexibility si I can get either a full meal kit or just the protein if I want to be a little creative some weeks. I have been using Blue Apron for over 2 years;I love that there are portioned, WW meals so I can stay on my eating plan, make delicious, creative and innovative dinners, and I dont feel like I am dieting.
