I found it difficult to use. I want a brief "calm down" practice, not a 30 minute story, but couldn't figure out how to get that. But most significantly, if I am paying for a subscription, there should be no ads or pop-ups. (If there are ads, the app should be free.) I refuse to both pay a high subscription cost for a phone app AND get inundated with ads. Will be canceling the free trial (hopefully it will really cancel 🤞) and will uninstall.
Bad Customer Service. Calm charged me twice for an annual subscription, and despite several emails since January 15th when this happened, I have received no response other than a reply email on January 17th saying they"we are still looking into the issue". Clearly, no one is looking into the issue. I have sent a follow-up email every single week to try to recoup the $80 overcharge. Will never subscribe to this app ever again, and watch out if you ever need an issue resolved. No one will reply.
I'm so upset. I signed up to try this app again. And it was only supposed to charge me for 1 month and it charged my bank for a full year subscription. I wanted to see if they had updated the content before I decided ig I wanted to keep it. and the worst part is, its still the same stuff as before which is why I canceled my membership in the first place!
There needs to be a way to adjust volume the volume of what is being played in the app. Other sleep sound apps have figured this out. If I want the sleep sounds cape to be quiet, I shouldn't have to turn ALL bluetooth sound down, there are some notifications I need to hear loud and clear. so being able to keep Bluetooth volume high, and just turn the individual sounds in the app down using a slider would work much better.
Actually they charged me $18.35 on my first day. It said $16.99 (nothing about tax) and it did say I might be charged 2 days before the 7 day trial began. It's a scam and I want my money back immediately because that's how fast you took it. I would have understood a hold or a couple of dollars to see if the charge card was good, and most of Calm the stuff is on free apps. Great way to bring in long time first time customers...not. Then when I went to send an email to them it took 15 minutes.
I purchased the annual subscription in July. In December Calm attempted to charge my card again for the year subscription. When I submitted a ticket about the issue they said they would get back to me. when I stated I needed a more prompt explanation for why payment was being pulled Six months early i never heard back - it's been 3 weeks. and now the app is significantly slower than it used to be. I would like to cancel and be refunded the balance on my account.
App won't even let me log in. I claimed the 40% off offer on Instagram, but after I paid for it, it wouldnt let me attach it to an account. Now, I'm pretty sure I have a recurring subscription that I can't cancel because I was dumb and didn't go through the Play store. Their support is also useless and has not been able to help me in any way. Do not use this app. Don't use the site either, it's not any better.
So I canceled my subscription due to the price change and me not finding value at their price. Calm offered a 40% discount to renew, which brought the product back into an acceptable range for me. However, if you click the link, it charges you the full price without the discount. that is the exact definition of bait and switch. It's unethical and paints a very poor picture of the company. There are alternatives out there, so I would recommend looking elsewhere.
App was already too expensive, now the price is going up even more. Also, the app constantly runs in the background unless manually stopped. Its annoying, expensive for what you receive, and not really all that helpful. All the money subscribers pay is apparently used to pay celebrities to read bedtime stories to adults. Not helpful at all to me.
I like the different options to listen to for learning healthy habits. However, if I paused it partway and came back after 5 min, I needed to restart the speaker. Sometimes, I had to completely close the app before I could come back to listen. I also liked the option to listen to soft music to go to sleep and set a timer for it to stop.
The UI is overwhelming and there are too many options. for people new to meditation, it feels like drinking out of a firehose. I was gifted a free month of the premium version, and I wont be renewing. I shouldn’t feel decision fatigue when I'm trying to unwind. If someone hadn't told me what she listens to as a starting point, I would have just let the subscription run out.
Don't do the trial. They don't notify you until AFTER they charged your card that "thank you for keeping your subscription". I got an email notifying me that they charged me $79.99. They don't give a refund even after two days. I have reported them for not giving a reminder email or notification letting you know of an upcoming charge. You should do the same if this has happened.
Good app., does what it professes to do. However, it is very, VERY hard to cancel. I have to believe that the app was designed to intentionally be this difficult to cancel. The level of difficulty bordered on criminal. If the app was as difficult to use as it is to cancel, nobody would ever use it. (By the time I was done successfully canceling it, I was about as uncalm as I've been at any point in the last year.)
This app is a cluttered mess compared to Headspace. The choices and lack of organization are overwhelming. The app is also glitchy with it often telling me I haven't completed any meditations yet when I have, It's hard to pick up where you left off in a series because it doesn't present the next session when you open the app, instead you have to dig through an insane amount of content to find the series you started. The Calm app actually stresses me out and I regret the year-long membership.
I'm disappointed with Calm bc it feels expensive for what it is. The price has increased again. I got the app at the recommendation of a therapist. I was reluctant bc of the price but I wanted to try it. I've had the app for 2 years & I did really enjoy some of the meditations and the sleep noises were nice. For now $80 a year though I would at the very least expect a nicer UI for the app which kind of looks like a potato. & for more new content. I deleted it when I saw they increased the cost.
After launching the app, I was immediately hit with a full-screen ad (after a loading screen telling me to take a breath). Then a signup screen and two more ads. After I closed both of those, I saw another ad, and still hadn't gotten to even try the app. And I never will, because that's where I uninstalled it. In the 2000s this would've been called malware
I declined to use this app and uninstalled it because I thought it was way too expensive for my needs. Yet I was charged for an annual subscription one year ago, which I didn't notice, and yet again almost double that amount this year! The app isn't even on any of my devices, it's not listed as a subscription in the play store, I haven't logged into it! I recall cancelling it, yet there is no way listed on the transaction to contact them! This is fraud! Must I cancel my card to stop your abuse!
Didn't work for me. I listen to the stories and it was fun to listen to celebrities read bedtime stories. My issue is staying asleep & Calm had issues of cutting out, stalling, whatever, in the middle of the night and that would wake me up. I had the subscription, so no ads. The endings of stories would sometimes fade out and then the intro of the next story would be loud enough to wake me. A lot of money for something that didn't work.
READ the CRITICAL Reviews BEFORE you spend money for this app! According to what I've read, their so-called "free" version is just a small fraction of the full premium paid version. I tried this app again, and it's still NOT Free! Free for only 7 days, then you must pay a LOT of money. NO THANKS! UNINSTALLED! There's plenty of other better sound apps available which are free.
Used to use it all the time but they just told me I have to pay for the ONLY sound I use. I literally use one single sound and now I have "1 free listen left" I loved this app for my anxiety and sleep for a long time but having to pay for a subscription to get the majority of perks just isn't accessible. Ended up downloading Sleep Sounds which has many more free sounds and lets the user customize it more.
