Can't create a 4 person multiplayer game. No info anywhere to explain why. It's very confusing to use multiplayer. Desperately needs QA/UX. Update: After reading forums I see that we need to buy the game to enable the 'custom' game mode, but even that is unclear what needs to be purchased from the in-game store. The store doesn't say what you get for various purchases. I'm trying to find a way to contact their customer service. Even paying for the game is hard, they make it very confusing.

Huge disappointment. It's a really fun game but I can't connect to multiplayer matches which is the only way I play the game. Inviting a friend just results in an error message that says the other person in already in a match. Nothing we do fixes this. It's been this way for at least 3 months. Update 3/1/26: New update completely broke the game. When I open the game, it just tries to rejoin a game I left a few weeks ago. This app is the most mismanaged app on the play store. Totally ridiculous.

Connection issues ALL the time, I wasted almost two hours while trying to get a game, kicked for lagging due to connection, or playing a game and freezing up. I've checked my internet connection with other apps ,talked to other players when the game freezes and updated to the latest version. I love this game but I am not dealing with this anymore. I had the payed version for the first island as well.

The game itself is great. The app is horrible. After every update it ends up crashing in the middle of the game. Or even during the final moments of the game. Also they don't manage to make the AI bots half decent players. They will likely end up stealing from the person in last or second to last place. This should be something manageable, to actually have the bots play against whoever is winning. Incredibly disappointing game experience.

I used to love playing this on my phone, but since the last update that changed the interface and menus, I haven't been able to connect with other players online. before, I'd be able to find a match and start a game very quickly. Now the "searching for players" bar sits at the top of my screen for what seems like forever and never finds anyone. I started a search for a normal game, no special rules or changes, and set the phone down while I watched TV. 20 minutes later, still searching.

Since the new update it sucks. my husband and I play this game everyday together and now we can't. we're both stuck on rejoining and can't do anything. this game is so fun and now it's sucks. to bad it's not working like before. MUST FIX!¡!¡ We made new accounts, however, is the same thing going to happen again?! Super slow and gets stuck in the middle of a game.... sad to see it go downhill.

They updated the UI to be about as useful as a UTI. I'm so glad that I paid real, actual money to unlock scenarios just for an update to make it so I can only have one saved game at a time. I liked being able to switch back and forth between games when one got frustrating, but now that's not an option. But the pieces have shadows now, which is apparently what the game was actually missing. Still glitchy as hell and will eat your suns and freeze you out of games.

For years I've stayed quiet when they switched servers and the game started glitching, couldn't play in tournaments anymore, and SO many other things. Yesterday they made an update, and that is the last straw... The new interface is terrible. They should really change it back and bring back tournaments and get the app functioning how it used to be before making any sort of cosmetic changes at all. Aside from that, it is impossible to figure out how to get into a quick game and then doesn't work!

completely unplayable since the new update. I got stuck in a game where a players turn just never happened. for 10 minutes or more!! I left the game, which cost me ELO and now 2 days later tried to play again. It keeps making me rejoin that game!!! A game that is 2 days old. Im completely stuck.. I force shut down the game and nothing. Absolutely Awful!!!

I generally really like Catan Universe, but a recent interface update seems to have created a bunch of bugs. Can we no longer use suns to play Special Scenario games? The interface seems to indicate that we can, but when I try, it uses the sun but doesn't start the game. Starting regular games also seems to be more difficult. It's not a bug issue, but I can't change computer characters.

When it works, it's great. Sometimes the game gets stuck in a loop and boots you out, rejoins you to the game, and looses turns. It's unplayable at that point, so I am always forced to quit the game. Quitting affects my "karma," making it increasingly difficult to match me with other players. I went from 4/5 Karma to 2/5, and I thought maybe that glitch was patched and I started playing with other players today, and it happened again. That means I can only play with AI, and that sucks.

Incredibly horrible experience. First, all four friends playing have recent phones and high speed Internet and live in various tech sector hotbeds. The app kept glitching to the point we had to quit right when the game got interesting. The worst part? We all kept accidentally adjusting the angle of the board so we couldn't see well. Like, they thought that ppl playing an online game would want to be able to accidentally end up seeing it at a 20 degree angle? With no fix! No one wants that!

I love Catan, so I have a bias to be positive. I downloaded it on my subway commute. It didn't allow me to register at that time, so I went ahead and purchased enough coins for the game and expansions. When I finally did register, it created a completely separate account, so I had to repurchase. Also, my suns never work, the music still plays when the slider is at zero, and sometimes there's a glitch that shows more resources than I actually have.

The many reviews of the app crashing are all true. I like playing it for fun but it has become worse than before. The AI gameplay has not been updated in years. it's predictable. but the game used to crash lesser two years back. it crashes more often now. I wish they did something to improve the gameplay. once you reach level 25, there's nothing beyond it. just keep playing. and I reached level 25 over two years back. Duh!

I have been playing this game to supplement in between game nights with friends and family. To stay sharp and brush up on strategy for the different expansions. This game provides a platform to do so easily. That where the positivity stops. The worse part is the AI. They constantly trade with each other without any regard to strategy. They will not trade with the player, ever, after the first few rounds. And the worst part, they will rob you blind even through the whole game even if you are last

Enjoying single player! AI is great! Every now and then there is a big where I cannot upgrade a settlement to a city. Update 9/2024. The game has lost my account and password retrieval says no account is associated with my email. Fun game, but that's frustrating to lose time and money. I emailed customer service several days ago identifying issue, screenshotting account and payments. Unfortunately, I only received an automated response so far. :( I'll update if they resolve the issue.

I can not understand the lack of functionality with this game. I paid for all the expansion packs probably a year ago and everything worked great for the time being. I'd play online and custom games for huge stretches at a time, we even enjoy the board game. I deleted the app a month ago but re-download it today once it was "fixed" Annnndddd..... still the same issues, can't start a custom game, when I get invited it says I'm in another match, connectivity issues (while on wifi)

Update 3 - In 2020 I gave it 4 stars: great game but a bit glitchy at times. After the move to the new server a couple years ago, everything fell apart in so many different ways. Bottom line, you couldn't even play. Over the past couple months it's been back up and running with almost no problems until today. Hoping it will be a quick fix but who knows!?!

Lots of bugs. When the player before you times out from not taking their turn, you get kicked instead of them. The customizable avatars are hideous. The AI is junk and collects cards without making roads or more settlements and offers trades quickly without giving you a chance to respond. It's difficult to play with friends online, says they're already in a game or offline when they aren't. I've been playing this game for over a year, and it has never gotten better.

The app is great......when it actually works. I've only had it for about a month, bit it seems like whenever they update 1 thing something else gets broken. I bought the base game for $5 but haven't been able to play it due to always getting an infinite loading screen whenever I que up. That's for both multi-player AND single-player. When I'm actually in a game it's fun. But it's such a struggle to make it that far. I'm sure they'll fix this issue in future updates but for now it's terrible.
