I'm erasing everything bc I want to write about the most annoying thing and we're limited on letters sadly. But why in the world once I click on some photos, and maybe edit it or not, I can't click on it again. I can't click on other photos and go back but still can't click on said photo. I have to close the app or go all the way back out. Please tell me why? It's makes me want to throw my phone and a bunch of other things it keeps me from making a bunch of what should be SIMPLE photo books.
very glitchy. frustrating. it used to work very well be now Google Photos is not as streamlined. I always get almost to the printing of a book when the app shuts down and doesn't always save my progress. but sometimes it will. just not consistent. also, I'm looking forward to cancelling my subscription. the prices just got raised again and now I'm paying twice as much for the same book I used to get.
Complete scam. I have had a subscription for a few years and they conviently changed their policy and now your monthly credits expire. They have stolen almost $100 from me. I don't know how this is legal to charge for a product & then not deliver it. How is this different than a gift card? Do not recommend unless you want to risk losing your $.
Updated review - my first issue was that Google Photos wouldn't work, but when I tried again on a whim today, it worked! I just submitted images for the books from last year, so I can update once they come. my second concern was never hearing back from customer service, which hasn't happened since Sunday but they could still reach out.
I love the high quality mini photo books, and how easy it is to make them for my family on a monthly basis. My only issue is that the app has messed up the shipping address of my order at least twice. For example, I want to send a photo book to both sets of grandparents, so I swap the address in between orders. It will send 2 photo books to the same grandparent. Also, in my order history the app erroneously shows all of the orders going to the same address even though I know that's false.
DON'T DO THIS! I started a mini 5"x 5" book because I wanted to make my grandchildren child sturdy books with rounded edges. It makes you put a month and date on the cover (don't want that and can't edit it). Stated I was getting 12 books for $1 each in promo, then wants to bill you anyway. Customer service is nonexistent, and then they wouldn't delete my photos from their system. They will exclude them from the book, but I still see them in my account. Untrustworthy!
Lately books that aren't tiny have been failing to upload fully such that when it's 'done' it can't be ordered because some of the photos that showed as uploaded weren't. You go back, redo them, confirm they're all there, and go back and hit the same error again. So you can't actually order some books you make. a very aggravating experience.
Do not use this app, go elsewhere. They said my book shipped and was delivered. When I reached out as I didn't get anything, neither had actually happeneded. Customer service said they needed to replace a few photos. I am not sure if I will actually recieve my photo books as customer service can't see who has helped me and I have gotten several different answers. It's been a few weeks since this process started.
We've been using Chatbooks for two years now. The product quality, service and prices are all fantastic...but the app and website are both obnoxious to work with. I dread going in to make a new book, and usually have to do everything 2-3 times before it all ends up saving correctly and works. Again, the products are great, though, so it's worth it!
I got the 12 books for $12. I love the idea of quick books with one photo per page. But I am disappointed that the app created the inverse (mirror image) of five of my photos. I tried deleting and choosing them again from a different place, but when I re-uploaded them, the app again created the inverse of the actual photos. Some of those photos had words in them, so now the words are backwards. I really don't like it. Please fix this, Chatbooks. It also uploads some photos upside down.
To say this app is terrible would be an understatement, I'd rate it 0 stars if I could. The send to print function doesn't work half the time, and when it does work your book doesn't actually ship even though you get an email saying it will ship in 7 days. Customer service is non-existant to say the least, even after trying to get ahold of them. Don't waste your time or your money.
Chatbooks used to be great and effortless. Not sure what happened but since they switched to the subscription model the app became very user unfriendly: not intuitive, no longer supports Google photos and the sequencing of the photos are all messed up. I recently ordered 2 books because I had the credit and my kids were nagging about when the next books will arrive, but the app was such a pain to use I think I'm going to be looking for alternatives from now on.
Love it but there's problems 😭 This has been the easiest way to preserve memories with my kids this year! But suddenly this month the app has stopped working, constantly shutting down as soon as I try to add pictures. And before thay started happening, it stopped letting me add pictures from Google photos. I'm so sad, and I really hope they get it fixed so I can keep using!!!
After my first book, I was unable to add new pictures. I had purchased 3 to begin. I emailed for assistance, and after several emails with their email bot, supposedly a person replied. I was given the same instructions over and over again to clear filters and choose new pics. The app didn't have the options that was outlined in the emails. I requested a refund of the remaining credits for monthly books. I was ignored, so I decided to order the same book for gifts. Poor servic
I liked the earlier version better. I preferred where the book figured out the dates and always accurate. I don't always take a bunch of pictures in a month and then only have millions for a different month. the sizes changed and I liked my old subscription better. I likely will not be continuing once my credits are gone. it's way more of a hassle now and was incredibly easy to use before. if you ever bring back the old version I will return as a customer.
I love the idea of this app and I have been using it for a long time but it seems like adding photos from Google just gets worse and worse. Half of the time I have to re do it multiple times to even get them to load into their app and you can't tell if the photos you are choosing are blurry or clear until the book shows up. I wish they could just make it a smoother process.
a little glitchy but overall easy to navigate. my biggest complaint? It forced me to write this review. The app would not open even though I kept hitting the close button on the box for "rate this app" . It wouldn't let me do it. It only gave you an option to actually write a review. but the actual chatbboks that come in the mail? I love them.
I love the books, but the app has been glitchy on Samsung (Android) for nearly 9 months now. I stopped making the books because I didn't have time to wait for the app every time. I had to uninstall and reinstall every month to do my minis. It seems to be getting better, but still freezes or doesn't load and I have to start over again.
I first used Chatbooks to create a photo album to share with family for our little's first year and now have the monthly mini subscription. Having quality printed photos on hand is so special and the pages are durable enough (on the minis) for my now almost three years old to look through the albums independently, and will quietly sit and look through them and point to loved ones/themself...which is a big win in itself. Highly recommend!
I've been a loyal chat books user for years - probably ordered 100+ books. I've always love the product & pricing. However the last two years prices have jumped and the app has become more dysfunctional with many errors. Recently, I feel like I am being forced into books and charges that I don't want. And now, I cant edit from my computer, only my phone - not a good feature. With this said, customer service has always been top notch. But I'm considering going elsewhere :(
