This game is as advertised. Playing offline is no issue and the ads are no more annoying than any other app. I absolutely love the small fee to remove ads, as all apps ought. I love systems like this. Great job!! I'm subtracting 1 ⭐ for getting repeated prompts to watch ads for hints. Not a bad system, but I paid for no ads. Maybe add a message when you pay for no ads to inform you that ads for more hints is an option and then leaving it as a button on the main screen?

This is a great app and, I would have given it five stars if it weren't for the amount of ads. Immediately after opening the app there's an ad, finish a match there's an ad, every two puzzles there's an ad and if I wait too long before choosing an option on the main screen, when I do choose there's an ad. cut down on the ads and I'd give it another star. otherwise it's getting to the point where I may uninstall and find a new chess app.

Did I really pay $6.99 to still have ads? Puzzles, that can only be played once is the only place that ads were removed. Puzzles that can only be played once suck, replays are where you can really learn. A finite number of single play puzzles sucks more. In actual gameplay, a move that would result in a draw can only be replayed after an ad? GTFO it's shiny and sounds cool; that's what the single star is for.

adds are very annoying. after you loose a match, it instantly goes to an add and doesn't let you see what actually happened... it's very stupid. Also, the computer forces a stalemate even though it has other moves. A stalemate is only when there are no more legal moves. but the computer keeps going using the same move and the game ends in a stalemate. That is a bad programming error.

Worst and most intrusive ads in a mobile game I've ever seen. Not interested in paying for no ads, but I expect to at least be able to skip an ad after 10 or so seconds. Every ad I've gotten in this game was unskippable and forced you to play another game, or forced you to open the Play store multiple times before it would go away. Absolutely horrendous.

Excellent Chess game. It starts out very easy. The beginner level is like playing against a child. But then it gets progressively more difficult. I just finished the third level and it was fairly challenging. There are ten levels so this game should keep me busy for a while. Overall, it's a fun, relaxing game. There is an occasional ad but it's only between games. A game is never interrupted.

The persistent ads ruin this game. Aesthetically, the game looks good, but it just constantly tries to force other apps down your throat, before, during and after matches. They cannot be skipped and are not easy to exit out of, for some of them I even had to close the game out and restart it just to get out of the advertisement. Unistalled and will be looking for something else. Not sure why this gets such high ratings.

literally unplayable. ads won't go away at all. I dont mind ads, but you can't *ever* close these. force closing the game didn't help. instant uninstall. edit to add after developer response: ...didn't even get an opportunity to play a full game without getting interrupted by an uncloseable ad. "buy this ad-free product" but we won't let you try it out until you fork over $$$ first.

I love that it's just a simple offline app, no leaderboards or any other bloat in the way. The ads are not at all intrusive (start and end of each game) and only $3 to remove. The best part is that the computer is actually useful for beginners. I am trying to learn chess beyond how to move the pieces, but even beginner computers just destroy me usually. This one actually plays like a beginner so you can get your bearings and think a little in a real game.

Be aware - I paid for the app but still get ads. Even with the paid version, when you get beat by the AI and press "Retry", it launches an ad that can't be skipped for a fairly long time. There are less ads, but they are still there. If I had known this I would have paid for a different chess game that was ad free. I've been telling everyone I can about this. If you see this review, do the same.

Good implementation! The computer's behavior is varied (at least through level 6; I haven't defeated the computer at 6 yet and you have to win to play at the next level). Ads are tolerable. One thing about ads: when there's a loss or draw, it jumps to the ad immediately without being able to see what the computer did until after the ad ends. If the computer wins by a surprise move you didn't anticipate, you can undo your last move, wait until the ad ends to see what happened, or pay no ads.

I have a good knowledge of chess in general. I'm just getting into this game and am at the medium level and over 200 with puzzles. At times, I have come up with multiple solutions for mate, but the game will only recognize one solution. Puzzle mode will blunder as well. Then, you'll have to deal with the onslaught of ads each time your legal checkmate is ignored or overruled. Otherwise, I like the game a lot. the puzzles have helped tremendously.

I don't think the difficulty level is jumping too much... I've played 5 games and moved up a level with each win, and as of level 5, I think the progression has been nice and steady, while still making more competent moves with each level, to the point where you can learn from it. I also like that they have a redo button (only use it for misclicks - you can't go back in a real game when you take your thumb off the piece 😉)

If a beginner player, this app is not for you. Levels 1 & 2 are super easy, but level 3 is impossible (and there's like 10 levels). Also, it seems as if the computer is about to lose, it automatically calls it a stalemate so the computer "wins". Also, my queen can't take the king but the computers queen can take my king. It just doesn't make sense. Plus the computer can castle, yet I cant. Definitely not an app I'd recommend.

Overall the game is good and fun to play, but there are times where they force you to a stalemate, even when the opponent only has their king left and I have 10. I also had an instance of the computer checking my king right next to it with a rook, with no other pieces on the board, and when my king killed it, they forced a "draw" even thouh I had many more powerful pieces ready to make a checkmate. When that happens they force you to watch ads to try again with another move or accept the draw

I have been playing Chess for a long time. I understand the game very well. The point is, this is a all around good game. It teaches you, challenges you, and is very well made. The increases in difficulty are well balanced. It is well worth the money for removing ads. I don't play games that much on my phone. Usually because the ads are so rage inducingly intrusive. I highly recommend this particular Chess. It's great for all types of skill levels for people who enjoy a classic battle.

Great app for learning chess. You can pick the level you want to start at and work your way up. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but, in the process, your learning strategy, what works what doesn't, what mistakes not to make and ideas for moves. You can restart a game, take back a move, or live with the results. In the end, your sharpening your skills, increasing you knowledge, and gaining valuable experience. Best of all, its fun.

Great for learning and great for passing time. Unfortunately, you might as well forget about trying to move up through the 10 difficulties because once you get to 3 it becomes broken. I've won 1 of 12 total games played on middle (3rd) difficulty after gradually progressing myself after at least 20 games and 50% win rate from each previous difficulty. The move from beginner (1) to easy (2) was a nice but noticeable bump in challenge, but the move to middle from easy is just impossible

I was reading reviews, most mentioned there are a lot of ads. I gave it a try anyway. I started the game, I went straight to learning pieces, picked the King just to get a feel of the game. And the ad hit, app was open only about 7 seconds. Uninstall immediately. Then the developer suggested I should buy the app that I couldn't even try out. I suggest them maybe give people a day or two, free of ads, so they can try the app and once they reach a milestone you can then make them buy the app.

Really good chess app. There's ten difficulties, and It gets tough when you get to the 4th difficulty. If you wanted to improve it though, I would give more board and piece style options. Like for example instead only having a black a white board option you could have a wooden board option or different color combinations of marble. And a couple of different pieces styles too, but the app performance is excellent.
