I gave it two stars originally and find it even worse today. It is sorta okay to let you know if something going on around you. But good luck figuring out where because their mapping is horrible. Who uses highway names instead of their designated numbers? Also, notifications start to tell you something and get cut off. Touch to see more and it takes it away completely. I wouldn't pay two cents for this app much less the prices they want.

App has gone downhill. Too much pressure to subscribe, and free features don't work reliably enough to instill confidence that premium would be any better. Location doesn't update consistently. Keeps giving alerts for things nowhere near where I am. When I open the app, I have to get through ads to subscribe and then can't find current, nearby incidents very easily.

Update 11.7.23: Not gonna lie... it's feeling more like next door the longer I use it: Lost pets are everywhere. and it locks you out of disabling notification for the minor stuff unless you go premium. Received a notification that I couldn't even find in the app, Go figure.. Pretty sure it was a come for the click. Original review: I totally get it.. Y'all got to make money. Public safety is one thing but greed is another. I keep it just for the historical aspect. Too bad live ain't worth it.

This app used to be completely free to use (aside from their optional upgrade packages that offered live operator assistance, etc.) and was very helpful in making me feel a little bit safer in my community. Now they've added a ridiculously overpriced subscription fee, and changed it so that you have to pay in order to even use basic features that were previously included for free. Super disappointing since the app's original concept was such a great idea... 👎🏻

every time the app opens it's trying to get you to pay for it, when I was using the free to determine if it was worth it, since it's annoying without paying, displaying alerts but then not letting you see without displaying the subscribe page I wouldn't recommend unless you are planning on paying. For my area it also just kept displaying the same alerts everyday as if they were new things when it was old information.

you guys make it so difficult to opt out of the paid version of this app that I thought that was the only version available and uninstalled it last time. maybe you need to rethink your approach. there wasn't even a little x in the upper right hand corner for me to skip past the prompt to sign up for the paid version. Not very performant. Also if it had a theme song the lyrics would be "something went wrong please try again in a moment". also, app does a very bad job of following stories, updatin

This app really IS bad. I read a lot of the comments before I downloaded it to make my own decision. It turned out the only thing that was in relation to me on the app was only one page, which had 2 features. 1 the map and 2 the word of my location. That's it. All the other features of the app were total bs. It's funny how they will allow you to record freely to give them new content, but you have to pay to get what you want. they get it for free, but you have to pay is what they are NOT saying!

This app does not report very much of the crime near information where I live. I live in an urban environment and it shows one incident every few days. but it does a good job of what's telling me what is happening a thousand miles away. I contacted their customer service with a simple question and they took almost a week to get back to me and then just asked for more information. these issues therefore mean that this app does not meet requirements for continued subscription. FIRED!

It's a good idea in concept but my God is it buggy AF! Comments literally don't work 90% of the time (and haven't on my end for the last few years) and you're just stuck in an endless loading bar! On top of that notifications also break the app on my phone in that when I touch it to open the app, it just freezes. I've already tried deleting cache, reinstalling the app, deleting the app data and nothing works.

Very disappointed, When I first downloaded this app this thing was great, then I went ahead and started paying for the services. been paying on it for a little bit now and all of a sudden the app struggles to open I get these something's gone wrong try again reload and it doesn't want to reload. If I click on any of the bottom tabs they won't open, starting to think it's not worth the money.

I think the app is great. it works as intended. However, I feel we should be able to read past incidents in our own neighborhood, or even the county, without being bombarded by "buy premium" advertisements. I'd understand if we're clicking on incidents from a different county or even a different city or state altogether, but I can't even click on ANYTHING without being asked to by another subscription service.

Pretty useless app. It keeps bothering me with notices from over 10 miles away in the big city I live near, and nothing at all in my own area, even when I'm looking at 2 fir trucks, 7 squads, and 2 ambulances. Plus when you get a notification it takes about 15 seconds to ipen the app, and then you need to click on the map icon an wait several more seconds to figure out if it's anything that might affect you. Tried it for several months, but it's more annoying than useful. Deleting it.

Unorganized app. I get a notification for something going on, if I tap on it it will pull up the report. But the incident doesn't show up anywhere else. It's not on the radar, it's not on the list of recent reports. The only way to pull that incident up again is to tap on the notification again, which goes away when you tap on it the first time. Thankfully I can pull up my notification history but not everyone can. Doesn't make any sense why those alerts don't appear on the map.

Everything is behind a paywall, everything! Down to what notifications I want to receive. It is just more annoying than it is worth. Had it on my phone for 18 hours, and I literally just woke up, installed, and writing this review at 6 AM. I usually pay money to go ad-free in apps, but this is just too much. Aside from every other annoyance, they hound you to go 'premium'. It is like walking on a mine field. Don't bother unless you want to pay $40 yearly.

I have had this app for a very long time. Long before it was monetized. Now, I'm only supposed to get about 7 notifications per day and it's supposed to do it for the area you're in. But Citizen app changed it. Now I'm getting probably 30-40 per days for areas 20+ miles away from me!!!! And I can't change that unless I PAY for premium. I uninstalled. I refuse to be forced into paying for something that USED to be for free.

No longer valid but now cost $. Why would I pay for an app that misses most local incidents, gets the locations wrong and false alerts. Best bet is to use Amazons ring app for the neighbors feature. It's free and is more accurate, has local incidents and is more in tuned to what's happening near your home since it also allows neighbors to post incidents. Word to the developers, you can push ads to keep this free for customers. An ad upon opening app, 1 ad on radio communication. Don't go crazy.

The free app was pretty good at one time, but it is becoming increasingly worse. I can no longer select a home location without upgrading. There seems to be no way to turn off notifications from areas I don't care about. Some are thousands of miles away. This is not supposed to be a news app. On a typical phone you can't read the full address of incidents without rotating. How about wrapping the text and giving control of font size?

What used to be a somewhat useful tool for monitoring the happenings in your neighborhood has become a downloadable ad for their premium service. The default notifications, which cannot be configured, invite you to access things locked behind a paywall, and your "local feed" updates inconsistently, if at all. Also, most of the people commenting on the app are unhinged lunatics, but that's not really the app's fault, and more a reflection of where I live, heh.

I really used to like this app. I stopped using it because no one used it in my new area. Today, I got 5 pop-up notifications out of the blue, the first ones in months. Well, I see Videos still don't load well, and the interface is still kinda jumbled and messy to use, and NOW, compared to when I stopped using it, apparently, every other thing you tap on pops up with a payment request and I really can't justify paying for an app that relies on other people, maybe... posting something important.

It's also a pretty stellar way to keep tabs on friends and it sends you updates if there's any incidences so that you can check in on them. Great way to stay away from incidents if you have to go out. EDIT: You don't have access to anything but "Person did this near there" now unless you pay. It will alert when sex offenders move nearby but won't give any info and even blurs their pic, rendering it a useless post. Cash grab.
