Inconceivably bad app. No amount of taking a selfie will create a CLEAR ID. Select airports, flight date, and then flight number, app records wrong destination and wrong airline. Zero effective customer service (and CLEAR isn't cheap). Adding, not removing, problems to your travel experience. 1 star for both the app and the CLEAR service, itself.
This is the worst money I have ever spent. They promised me an expedited service through the security checkpoint and the last 3 trips that I've taken have been nothing but a nightmare, they did something to mess up my wifes birthday and we've had to go back to the check-in every time. And we never had this issue before signing up was clear.
the only thing I find more useless than this app what is the number to support around it. the system works fine at the airport when scanning my eyes but I cannot get into the app. Put in my mobile number, that doesn't work, put in about 5 email possibilities, they don't work. you click support, major Bank tier mobile number and email option. the online help system is absolute trash. No reset option.
Terrible app. Uploaded my vaccine information, and 2 weeks later it was gone. Was told they are having "issues," and to re-upload it. However, you can't re-upload it when traveling, and you uploaded this information to the app so wouldn't have to bring a card with you. Defeats the purpose. Now cannot enter the venue. Very unreliable. Do not recommend. Support was lackluster at best. Makes me rethink keeping my CLEAR membership. 1/5
Difficult to navigate, does not work well, and the scan your vaccination card option does not work. And under FAQ it suggests that you can very easily cancel your membership by going into your account and clicking "cancel" but that is not an option I see in my account. Maybe because I signed up for the free option? I only downloaded the app to attend a game. Instead, I will just arrive early and go through the in-person screening. 2 stars instead of 0 because the customer service was lovely.
There are areas in the app that are not intuitive. for instance when you are required to take a photo to validate your ID. The camera controls are not available on the interface and there are no suggestions of what isn't working. If you find it isn't passing the photo confirmation, the issue is likely low light. It takes a pretty bright light to confirm. Flip on a bright overhead light, start with the camera close to you and move it away. It will vibrate when it is good.
Can't make an account because it requires weird lighting for photos. I.e. I have to create a shadow on my photo ID because even the slightest bit of light is "Too much glare." It does this thing where the flash turns on almost every time at random when I try to take a picture, so it automatically says "Too much glare." Flash is off on my camera app's settings, and there's no option to turn off the random flash. The oval face scan also doesn't work, and keeps causing me to restart the process.
After filling out lots of forms - worked initially. Then, next day, when I needed it to visit a doctor, it kept popping up with an "opps, try again, something went wrong" error. Texted support, and told to uninstall and reinstall. Still didn't work. Told to take a screen shot of the error (which their privacy settings would not allow - hmmmm, think they might have known that?) Then told they might have a tech issue on their end - I should try again in a few hours!!! And that doctor appoint?
Getting registered is ridiculous. They want you to put a photo id in a space smaller than the id and then tell you try again. Then if you quit after giving your email and pphone number and try agai, it's as if you were never in the system and have to input both email and phone and go through the verification process. Thought it'd make it easier to enter the ballpark, but forget it. Not worth the frustration of trying to get a photo id scanned with their app.
Awful experience. Attempted for well over an hour to upload my vaccination card to the app. Kept getting "oops, something went wrong. Try again later". Contacted support, they delete my account and tell me to re-enroll and try again. Same problem. Seems like a massive oversight not to have a manual verification process and rely entirely on your software. No point in using this app if I keep my card on hand.
Fourth time trying to enroll. It asks for your driver's license, a live photo, and then facial recognition set up. Not sure why my ID isn't sufficient for enrollment. I can get in a plane with it. Enrollment still hasn't been completed because the software keeps erroring out. Doesn't seem to help at all. I'd rather just show my vax card and ID at the doors. Also, I wasn't able to search for my event. I just had to scroll through. Events aren't in any particular order so that was a pain as well
The ID scanning software is a joke. It is unable to detect my ID on a perfectly flat surface with even light levels, and would only accept an image with the ID far from the camera and difficult to read. It took me about 20 minutes just to get it to accept a photo of my ID. Furthermore, there is no option to upload a photo of vaccine cards, which is an issue since many travelers do not carry their physical vaccine card, but a photo of it. Extremely frustrating app to use.
kind of a pain to use. "Doesn't accept" photos of key docs, but then let's you move on anyway. seems less built for the ease of the user and more for the ease of the event organizer to harvest attendee data which, to be fair, they do need to put on a show in 2021. but like so many other things, I feel this could have been an email.
This app is abysmal. It's heavy and seems not to work especially well with Androids. I keep getting a message that says "Oops, something went wrong. Try again later." Uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times, across multiple days and still no luck adding a Digital Vaccine Card. Hopefully sports venues partner with a more reliable provider than Clear.
Edit: I was just Vegas while waiting in line 15 minutes to go through clear because they were understaffed while watching three clear agents cut the line to bring in new customers. Sales is more important than customer experience to them. I've been a clear member for 10 years. Over the last year, I now find myself waiting in their line longer than normal security. Also the app is buggy
Registration takes forever, and then you get "oops something went wrong, try again later", and then they expect you to start over. Keep seeing these people at the airport and had been considering enrolling because I travel frequently. App development isn't hard, if this is as good as they can do I'm not sure I want to trust them with my information.
Clear has one of the worst customer service available. Trying to call the customer service line places you on hold for 30+ minutes. The chat feature on the app is ridiculous and circular in design. To actually connect with someone in chat, requires selecting the option to cancel your membership. For example, if you want to manage your accounts and the app cannot support your request, the chat bot directs you back to the app. Forget about calling cust service, it is nonexistent.
Horrible app. I tried multiple times to upload my ID and it continued to say too much glare...when it accepted it it claimed document wasnt found. The Hawaii travel app is so much easier to upload documents. I just gave up, we have our physical cards but they aren't the greatest size to carry in your wallet. We also have pictures of them on our phones, but I did at least drive to make it easier for venues by downloading this app.
This app is kind of useless. You don't need it at the airport. Even to sign up, they airport staff didn't need it. Trying to get my COVID vax record on it and it got stuck in "in progress" forever after connecting it to my doctor system (Epic). Worse yet, you call/chat for support and the reps dont even know what you are talking about, ask for screenshots (which you can't take of course). Maybe it might be useful for events... But the amount of venues is limited. Layout is confusing.
Honestly setting this up was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. If you line your ID up with the corners, it tells you its not close enough. You move it closer and suddenly it can't read it. There is no inbetween. I opted to just use the image it said was readable but not close enough & it was fine but it took like 10 minutes of retaking photos just to get one that worked. And it would not read my QR code for my vaccine card at all.
