I set multiple alarms ahead of time, and that helps me manage my time for each meeting in the day. The app automatically expands the options panel of an alarm whenever I change it, and this is VERY ANNOYING. I don't need to change any of these options (ever) but everytime I need to close the panel to see the next alarm. Also, I risk to change one of these options by mistake, when the panel is open. not useful! I wish options were opened only upon request, not automatically. simple and clean.
options such as alarm name, alarm sound, routines, etc. are often unavailable when setting an alarm. sometimes if I mess with it by editing the time or changing the time to manual entry and then back, the options just appear. also, when my routines play in the morning, they play the news at the end, but there is no way to turn that off without restarting the phone. there is no stop button, and when I swipe away the news banner from the pull down menu, It disappears but keeps playing.
randomly, my alarm volume would go silent making the alarms not go off. first few times, I figured user error. I must have accidentally put my phone on silent. then it happened so often to the point that I had to check it every night to make sure the volume of the phone and alarm were on high. today I purposely made a point to put it on full blast and when the time came, all 3 of my alarms were silent. look up the forums and apparently this is a common problem with google clock... deleting it
As far as I can gather, the last app update removed the ability to "label" the alarms we set. When I am cooking multiple dishes, which have different timings, I like to set an alarm for each task/ cook time. Without a label, I have to try and remember which alarm belongs to which food I am cooking. please bring back the "label" function when setting an alarm.
Latest update is terrible. I'm not talking about the less than desirable UI. I'm talking about how my alarms simply have become entirely random. There's no telling if it will actually alarm or not. And expect the watch to alarm? It's even more random. Sometimes you can stop the alarm from the watch, sometimes you have to stop it from both. My favorite misfire? The watch alarms but the phone doesn't.
This app has a major glaring issue for me. Whenever I set my alarm to wake me for work, the app forces my phone to wake up 15 minutes before the alarm goes off at full brightness and keeps it on until it goes off. I sleep in the dark like normal people do so being flash banged if I forget to lay the phone face down is NOT appreciated. The tech industry gets dumber every year. "let's show them the time while they're sleeping so they know they're about to wake up." Completely idiotic.
I don't know what you did to this but it currently sucks! I use Pandora streaming with it, and it used to work great - like for months, years on end, even while I updated to newer versions of phones no issues until recently. I've tried restarting my phone, hard restarting my phone, logging in & out of Pandora, removing all my alarms then adding them back. It's still all messing up! I have to be able to have an alarm that works & not go silent after only 2 seconds! Settings say "never" go silent.
This doesn't allow snooze customization for different alarms. You can only set the default amount, and I use alarms for all sorts of things throughout the day. Sometimes I want 10 minute snooze, sometimes a half hour. That's not even a fancy feature. Every built-in clock app I've ever had before Pixel9a let me adjust snooze length for individual alarms. I also want to be able to select the volume for individual alarms (like quiet for waking up, loud for my afternoon alarms), but I can't.
its really nice for a Google app, I mean.. i have parental controls and I've been finding my ways to get more screen time so I've been using clock as in a music listener even when my phone is locked, i recently updated my phone to android 15. and the sneaky way I would listen to music even when my phone was locked doesn't work anymore, still 5 stars because it does its job and more like gives you your friends/family's different time zones, timers and, stopwatches!
*Edit* The routines are back but it now has an even more annoying issue of constantly disconnecting from YouTube music. It will say I don't have the YouTube music app installed or it will say I don't have YouTube music premium when I do. The only way to fix this is to uninstall and reinstall the app and it'll happen often! so you'll have to do this every other day! It also won't work if you have battery saver mode on. This alarm clock is very unreliable.
update 11/2025:* i changed my rating to a 1 star. for some reason when you go to set an alarm the steps aren't always the same and sometimes it requires extra steps. this has made me oversleep multiple times. no more! I've installed a new alarm clock that works better.* disappointed. the new update is not user friendly. you used to be able to simply set your alarm and be done. now it opens a whole panel and you have to click more options to save it.
The "alarms" have not been working since the update it seems. I have been counting on this app for the last however many years, and it has been somewhat reliable, but this past month, I've woken up, more often than not, past the time I am supposed to be at work. I am reverting back to a bedside clock now because counting on this app is potentially going to force me into early retirement.
Who had the bright idea to add extra clicks to the process of setting the alarm? Or to have the new set time pop up over the old, changing one but not the other, letting the new time slide away if you click ok but not save, as if you've successfully set the new time, without actually setting the new time? I've been lucky in that this has only resulted in the alarm going off earlier than necessary. But changing the way this app is used without highlighting it is almost vindictively stupid.
A recent update overhauled the interface & turned it into hot garbage. Named alarms now require creating the alarm, finding & reopening it by clicking (but *not* on the time portion of the button, which only allows for setting the time), before clicking the Name field, editing it, setting a sound, and then finding the Save button at the bottom. When it's not hidden by the keyboard. Too bad Google no longer hires UI/UX people who ever actually use their own products. But, no ads yet, so, yay?
The updated app Sept 2025 requires more clicks and steps to to do the simple things I use everyday. to change the time, you click okay and now you have to hit save. Unneeded additional step. Delete button has been removed from the main screen. Now you have to open the alarm to delete it. It's just crazy. Everyone wants efficiency. And the alarm name is tiny in the edit window. Come on man !!!!!
Awful for people who create multiple alarms for different tasks throughout the day. The add alarm button only lets you set the time. To name the alarm or set it to recur on a schedule, you need to create it, then select it from your list of alarms and save it again. The extra steps are super inconvenient. If you just need it to wake up in the morning then it's fine though.
I've used this default app for years and have had it set to play music from another media app for my morning alarm. for some bizarre reason, this feature now no longer uses the alarm volume and instead uses the regular media volume (which I keep much lower than I want my alarms to be). I can't fathom why they've made this change and what purpose it's supposed to serve. I don't enjoy waking up to the same tone every single day, that's why I was using the music feature in the first place.
This alarm used to work perfectly fine and then several updates in a row made it worse and worse. Alarms now cancel out other ones. When you inadvertently click into the alarm settings instead of hitting the time you also now have to hit save or that alarm will never happen. But worst of all, you used to have to swipe to snooze or stop, but now you just tap it. I don't know how many times I've accidentally hit stop instead of snooze and ruined my morning. I wish we could install earlier versions
Functional but user hostile. Hate the redesign. Thought I could tolerate it, but it takes several extra clicks to simply edit the label on an alarm now. It is very easy to edit an alarm and tap off the dialog without hitting save. Last straw for me is it showing an alert saying one or more of my alarms are set to silent, with a useless settings link. Found the alarm eventually, as the alarm itself shows "vibrate only". This means you can't have a vibrate only alarm without a permanent warning.
whatever the recent update is, it's bricked routines when setting an alarm. previously you could set a completely custom routine, but now you can only enable the default routine and add custom actions from there. the problem is the routine has a "play the news" action that can't be removed or turned off. further once you save, you can't go back in to edit the routine. you can only click to remove, which is infuriating. others are reporting the same on Google Help.
