The app takes forever to do a search to the point where it will stall out and show a blank screen. And you have to get the title or author exactly correct or it won't find anything at all, much less results of similar name. **Came back to reduce from 3 to 2 stars. After I pause the book, more often than not I have to press play 2-4 times to get it to work. Sometimes I have to close the app entirely. This is especially irritating when I'm using ear buds bc my hands are busy.

This app has a lot of improvements to be made. 1. Users should be able to rate a book so that others can quickly decide if they want that book or not. It's tiring having to Google each book to see how many stars before choosing to read it. 2. The method of searching is ridiculous. Most times, the search returns, "no title match this criteria...". When searching for an author, you have to type in their last name first, then add a comma (,) then their first name.

I wish the app had better listening controls, such as to stop playing at the end of the chapter rather than a # minute count. Doesn't make sense when listening to a book. I also wish when reading a book in scroll format it didn't stop at the end of a chapter then just jump into the next. When I'm scrolling I want to smoothly move through the book and place the text in an optimal reading zone on the screen.

5 stars for choices, 3 for ease of use. Love the choices! I'm listening to my first book now. The timer has to be reset every every time; I can't select end of chapter for audiobooks. Too many keystrokes to set a bookmark and then they don't always save your place. No dark mode? ! Also, from full speed to 80% isn't adequate, 80 % is too slow. I often prefer 90 to 95% speed of reading.

I really wish I can say I love it. I love that you can barrow books from the library but the interface sucks. It's hard to flip the pages. There is no cute page turning animation. you get 2 backgrounds light or dark. I do like how they have the dyslexia font. Highlighting is just a nightmare. The time left in the chapter is NOT adjusted for your reading speed. They need to take notes from other apps like moon reader and kindle.

Not as clean as other competitor apps. The progress bar is too close to the bottom so it is VERY easy to touch and completely skip and mess up where you are in the book. That brings me to another issue, you can't choose how it shows your progress in the book. Some apps let you switch your view from progress in book to progress in chapter. So when you accidentally touch the bar you then have to find where you are again in the whole book which is very difficult if you hadn't looked at it recently

I recently downloaded this app on an Android phone, but the app keeps crashing. Also, a message appears that says the app has a bug. I updated the app and cleared the cache, but these actions didn't help. When I contacted the local library, I was told that they have no control of how the app works. In the app itself, there isn't a platform for reporting issues so I'm writing this review with the hope that the developer reads about and corrects the problem. Thank you for your assistance.

Having CL is definitely better than not having it, but there's room for a LOT improvement. There are so many ways that I can see that this app could be improved that I can't even list them all here - there isn't nearly enough space - although I did email the developer about a lot of it. Bottom line: if you like to read you should probably get this app, but don't expect too much. 1/2/26 The app has been crashing and having "playback errors" a lot lately.

Used to be a a good app though always short on full series collections. used to have 3 days to claim a hold and 21 days on each borrow. Recently, the holds have been reduced to 1 day claims and multiple times I've borrowed a book only to have it due at some apparently random time. So far I've had one due in 1 day which is ridiculous. I've had several due in 3 days. Recently I had one due the standard 21 days but after reading over 3 days it suddenly became due the next day. Bugs? Hopefully.

I love that it provides me an alternative to find some books not available through my other library apps, but its my least favorite user experience for listening to audiobooks. There are several frustrating UI quirks. There is also no way to report bugs or provide other feedback, either on the app or through the website. For example, currently clicking on the holds notification link on the main page kills my whole app.

It's just impossible to know when books will actually be available. I just updated and most books are not available for at least 17 days. Then comes a week or so of availability, and another couple weeks where you can't check out anything update suddenly today my checked out books are gone and the search function likewise. totally useless.

No dark mode, and UI hides where to get content from (if anywhere exists in the app). All I can find today is that I have a library card, and no notifications. In the past, I somehow opened a browser page for their catalog, but it felt clunky and wasted screen real estate (Firefox is my default browser, since Chrome won't allow free ad blocker extensions anymore).

The UI on the Android feels like a beta test from 2010. The dark mode is ONLY for the ereader - it doesn't exist for the app itself or for audiobooks, and when active, the options, like margin size, are blacked out and unreadable. For audiobooks, the time doesn't display for the sleep timer. There's no way to change the display for the play bar from the entire book to chapters (good luck rewinding 5 min for a 20-hour book). It lags. I could go on and on. I hate that i had to switch from Hoopla

It says there is a problem with my card but my card still works on Libby and at the library. Update: This is because I live outside city limits. To get more than a vague error message I had to contact the library. From them I learned that using Cloudlibrary outside city limits requires a full-service card that costs $75 annually. That makes up for the property taxes they miss out on. They started doing this recently because I used to log in. The fee isn't worth it as long as I have Libby.

Not a bad app. Nice to have options. This is the one my library uses. I was able to download the audio book and listen to it offline. App would benefit from a couple of extra features. 1. Added filter capabilities when searching for books. Genre would be nice. 2. Would be nice to be able to set the sleep timer to the end of the chapter instead of preset times.

Compared to other digital library apps, CloudLibrary is functional but far less user friendly compared to Libby and Hoopla. The audiobook controls are especially unfriendly. Not being able to rewind while paused, rewind past the previous chapter, not being able to see how long is left in a chapter... There's also no dark mode, which as a night reader is frustrating. I use it when the book I'm looking for isn't in the Libby or Hoopla collection but don't seek it out otherwise.

Often, the app glitches when I try to view the homepage. If I click "trending audiobooks" it will bring up a blank, white page. I have the same issue when using the "search" option sometimes. It will say nothing is available. After I restart theapp, it's there. Also, I would love to see how long I've read/listened for the day. We have reading challenges in our area for kids and adults, and while we speed up the narration, I'd like to see how much ACTUAL time has been spent reading/listening.

The Audio Reader has gotten a lot better than my previous review. The book search could be better, especially when I'm following a longer series. The choices seem to be related to the library, not the app, so I've been fortunate to have good selections. One of the worst problems is the data size. It is by far taking up the most space. When it returns a book, does it delete the downloads? And there is zero support. The help says contact the library, but they have no idea about technical issues.

App has trouble finding books/authors using the search function. One day the book will show up when searching, the next day it just spins and spins until it times out or says the material can't be found. App is also inconsistent with saved lists. It takes a really long time to load them, and when it does finally load, sometimes all the saved books show up, sometimes only a few of them show up, and other times the books show up multiple times. It's very finicky and unreliable.

This is perhaps the worst app I have ever had to use for reading digital content. A move to a new area meant a new library and this is their default app. I had previously used Libby and loved it! Decent selection of books, awful dictionary, app is buggy...I could go on, but most people using this don't have a choice anyway, as it's the library who decides. Avoid if you have the option.
