Coloradoan: Local News

I will be unsubscribing this month. It's a shame because I really like getting local news and supporting local journalism, but the app is atrocious. It logs me out pretty much every day, and then never "remembers" that I'm a subscriber once I enter my credentials. Very frustrating, and unfortunately it's been more trouble than it's worth. Not the Coloradoan's fault, but rather their wonderful parent company I'd assume.

Won't let you stay logged in and when you keep trying to log into your paid online subscription it keeps telling you that you've read your free articles for the month. So frustrating. Or the server can't be reached, try again later. We also subscribe to the NY Times -- their app works flawlessly. Too bad they don't have a Northern Colorado edition.

New annoyance: Some ads 'steal your click' over to an advertiser's site when you're just trying to scroll through the article on your phone. Expedia and Feel Free are notable examples. This kind of Compulsion Marketing can't be good for gaining satisfied readers. I refuse to buy from such advertisers.

I want *today's* newspaper. I want the comics, the advice column, the puzzles, any op-ed letters/columns, political cartoons, editorials, etc. Your app gives me a list of stories, many of them weeks old ( in January, WHY do I need local restaurants for Christmas Day??) I haven't subscribed to the Coloradoan for some years because of issues like this. Take a look at the Denver Post's digital replica edition. It's a thin paper, true, but a vastly better interface than yours.

Update March 2022: The app has become unstable, at first it flashed like a strobe light when attempting to open and eventually just crashed and would not open at all. 2022: Recently this app asks me to sign in every day. I have been a digital subscriber for three years but constantly see ads about subscribing in articles I am reading. STOP IT! And now the ads want me to subscribe or sign in, daily. I am tired of it and the digital subscription at $9.99 a month is not worth it.

The bonus edition of USA Today is no longer available in the app. However, it is available through the web browser E-Edition. You might as well delete the app and access it through the web browser. You can free up memory for more useful apps.

Annoying beyond words. It is clunky, requiring sign in after sign in. It is, alas, the only app available. The print version offers a much better experience... But it's costly.

I used to use this app all of the time and was able to read unlimited articles for free. But now that they've changed it to limit you to 3 per month, it no longer makes sense to keep it.

As of May 2022, app will no longer open. Just flashes and crashes. Daily newsletter is same info repeated for several days in a row. Trying to login online instead of app just tells me my account doesn't exist. As much as I want this for local news and to enjoy, Gannet has made this impossible

This app sucks!! I have to login every time I use it, it is annoying but the only way to get the news I want from my local paper when I'm working, short of buying another copy while I'm at work. Please fix this issue!

It's always been difficult to find new articles (having to bypass many from several days ago), but now i have to sign in every day! The app is getting worse with time not better

Great local paper and good coverage in the app. However, the app makes me login each time I use it, which other apps don't do.

I am so happy that we have the Coloradoan. Having the local news is so important to our community, local sports and events keep us sane in these crazy times. If you don't like the layout, there is the hard copy or e-edition. Kudos to the hard-working staff!

Great way to get local news quickly - and I can access multiple newspapers. I get local news for Northern Colorado as well as news from my hometown paper in another state, which gives me more to talk about with family and friends, as well as more person big issues. I've had the Colordoan app for several years and I really appreciate it.

So disappointing. It's hard to see the latest news... Just keeps highlighting old stories. Plus, stories don't even include the date on the main interface when you're scrolling. Really poor design and user interface.

This app is terrible, too many ads and its unpredictable on what it is going to LET you read. Wecliked the print app much better...you are going to lose another subscription

Pretty close to useless. I have to sign in almost EVERY time and frequently get kicked out and have to start over again.

I'm logged into the app and when I click on a story it brings up the subscribe popup and I can't read anything.

I am a paid subscriber, but the app still limits my number of articles. I'm not sure why it doesn't recognize me as a subscriber. The website seems to work fine though.

Horrible. Have to sign in after reading 5 articles. Called the office, they dont know why. Ready to drop my subscription.
