Worst app ever. Did not colorize anything. It just made the photo black and white. Also, what was supposed to be a 3-day free trail just charged me for 2 years on the first day. Now I want to cancel my three day trail and two year charge, but it won't give me the option to do so. Doesn't even pop up in my subscriptions, just in my bank account.
for an app that colorizes black and white photos *automatically*, it does a surprisingly good job. of course, it isn't always perfect; it misses spots here and there. but again, it's great considering it does this automatically and on your phone. if you're looking for perfection or the colors aren't as you expected, the alternative would have to be photoshop or some similar desktop software. but for a free service that does it automatically from your phone? this is a really good one.
Probably one of the best colorization apps out there, obviously not always right but I've had some good results. However, I wish it wouldn't crop my photos automatically and refuse to open larger files. I usually have to resort to taking a screenshot of the photo I want, colorizing that, and then combining them in photoshop. Not ideal. Same with the cropping. I wish it would take the photo as is rather than cropping part of someone's head/hair off.
I have a few issues with the app. 1. You are limited to how many photos you can colorize unless you pay a monthly subscription. 2. The photos you colorize get cropped way too small. 3. The colorized photos aren't always colored accurately; sometimes it's extremely inaccurate and sometimes it's fairly accurate. All that being said, this is one of the better apps for coloring photos that I have found so far.
Pretty great, quicker than I thought. Reduced a star because for 30$ I kind of thought I could download these to my device and share them much easier than is the case. Only five at a time. I'm not really able to access the pics on my device easily and it sometimes crops or distorts scanned images when they don't have an edge. Hard when I'm doing genealogy stuff and have a lot of images; however, given that, I've also not met it's equal, I would 100% reccomend this app.
I didn't realize an app like this existed but I needed to colorize a black and white photo. Came to the Play Store and found this app. The app did it perfectly and I was just astounded at how beautiful the results were. Furthermore you could download it, save it and no watermark at all! The only downfall and why I changed from five stars to four is it crops your picture. It will not do the whole picture.
It does a great job colorizing black & white photos. HOWEVER, there's 2 major issues which make this app highly frustrating! #1 is the automatic cropping feature. It crops far too much off of the original photo! The 2nd point which is also highly irritating is I have to pre-edit my photos, only then will your app recognize it as being in the recent category and ready to be colorized. Any other time it'll refuse to colorize my photo choices. Uninstalling!
Nice colorization. Sucks you have to subscribe to save your photo. EDIT:. Yes, it does state that there are "in-app purchase". However, when you click to learn more about this app, nowhere does it state you must purchase anything to simply save your photo. It does state to make a purchase for UNLIMITED saving. The info is misleading.
Very impressed. Seems to work well on portraits. I used it on a portrait photo of my mum and the result just blew my mind. The app had even selected the correct hair colouring. On the down side it seemed to struggle with outdoor photos will several people in them. I think if there is a lot going on in the photo, the app struggles to get a good result (hence the 4 stars) but apart from that I'm pleased.
I'm desperately trying to cancel my free trial but it doesn't show up on the play store as a subscription like every other app I have does. Tried emailing them and there suggestions just send you around in a loop. It seems I'm being forced to pay for an average app for which there are better options. I do not want to pay for this. I suggest potential users look elsewhere or risk being subscribed in a seemingly no exit agreement!
Hit and miss. With a side of harassment. Sometimes it's great sometimes it's not, but that doesn't really matter because the free version is only lip service requiring an ad be viewed between each and every action with everything else locked up. These are the sort developers who create the reputation of mobile apps as being a scam. Do a free version or don't. Don't pretend "in-app purchases" defines that this is free app when you cannot use the app without predatory ads with predatory choices.
I like the result of the colouring. However, as is mentioned before, the automatic cropping is super annoying!! The answer given is "there is an option to manually crop". That's not relevant, since that doesn't stop the automatic cropping. I don't want to undo the automatic cropping manually afterwards, I'd like the app not to crop in the first place. Since we need to pay for the app, which I think is worth it btw, I'd like the developer to take these wishes seriously.
Genuinely impressed with this app. It isn't perfect, oversaturation of colours occurring on some photos, but I was using some really old family tree photos and pics of my grandad from his Navy days in WW2 and the images have come out remarkably well. It does a weird crop when importing photos and rotated a photo unnecessarily that I couldn't figure out how to resolve. Bit pricey for a full year as you're unlikely to use it that long; a monthly sub or similar would have been preferable.
The app is not good enough to spend money on, the design and user-friendlyness is good, but the algorithm for colorizing is far from perfect. Works well on certain types of images, typically group pictures/landscapes. But single shot people and all other sceneries seem to have a lot of trouble either giving patches that was uncolored, or just giving me a lazy sepia colored image. You can upload 6 pictures as a trial after that they will not let you even share the sample pictures, greedy?
Great app, but have noticed that the colorisation is a little off (every item of clothing showing as blue!) and the auto crop, really over crops and flips the images incorrectly. Having now spoken to support, I now feel that the app and support would get a much lower score. I asked about both the above issues, I got told that auto crop would be off on the next version, then told how to crop manually, totally ignored my other question, almost like they were just using a standard response.
Surprisingly impressive output. I have tried a number of these colour restoration apps over the years and, hands down, this is the best yet, by far. Still not perfect but more than acceptable for a freebie. My best suggestion would be to allow user to set the crop boundary, not automate it as this is proving to be a bit of an annoyance. Update: Got message to update, no different?
Very impressed with the results for an old photo I tried it on. Eight out of eleven people in the photo were shown perfectly, as were the grass in foreground and trees in the background. However, even with the imperfections on three people, the result was commendable. It would be great if the cropping could be adjusted.
Ultra simple to use. Excellent results. Obviously the app can not know what colour the original was in cases such as clothes or a car, for example. Some editing may therefore be required. But skin colour is usually excellent and trees, sky etc. I love B&W photos, but the application of colour can bring old photos to life and in particular bring to life people in very old photos, who can otherwise seem very remote.
I've been doing a lot of manual processing of images as a present for my father about a year ago. This app did the work in seconds, something that would take me hours. Not as good as doing it by hand but the outcome barely justifies doing it otherwise. Highly impressed! A major thing would be to be able to extract the colours to layers and change them (i.e.: clothes colour, etc). It can come as a pro version, would pay for that, no questions asked!
I am very impressed with this app. I scanned two photos so far and one was perfect while the other was almost there. In the perfect one I would have liked some way to have the color of clothing modified although it was well done. The dress came out red and I am sure there might be a simple way to have the app modify it. I I'd really like the way the photo came out. The photo that disappointed me did a great job on the face and hands but the arms weren't colorized. I'll bet this will be fixed.
