Disappointing and Misleading I expected this tool to provide custom paint color codes based on scanned surfaces, but unfortunately, it only suggests the closest Sherwin-Williams color—no actual custom color output. Even worse, it doesn’t allow you to save scanned images for future reference. This app had a lot of potential, but it falls short in key areas. A major letdown.
Although the app crashes frequently and requires pairing too often it has been a helpful tool. Especially with not being able to meet all of our clients. Color coordination is made easier wirelessly. I can put together folders for clients to review and choose from. I went so far as to color match our cabinet and tile samples so we can "translate" them into SW colors rather than attempt to describe them or depending on pictures that will vary with different monitors.
did a scan. created qr code for custom paint match. store could not figure out how to make it work.
Had a device for years and work good. The color match was a bit ofd from time to time but over got me a close match. Unfortunately now thuo I cant get the device to calibrate. I tired two others and still wont calibrate and I don't see any know fix for it beside make sure its fully charged and that the lens is clean. What's going on SW as one of your contractors im disappointed.
Does not want to connect to the color match tool. Worked first time for 2 colors then have never been able to get it to connect again. Deleted app and reinstalled multiple times, reset color match tool and still nothing. App actually can see the device, just will not connect to it. I'm not contacting your help.support.customer service whatever, you can read.
Looks like a beta. A lot of the words are truncated. Will only give a match for a SW color. No option to have it make a cuatom color. As a result, some accent colors seem impossible to match. Have a customer who used a different brand of paint and we can't match it with the app.
I wanted to install the app and the choose a pic from my phone gallery of a wall color to see what a close match would be but I can't do this it seems. The app wants me to connect a device to the app. A color scanning device??? Not useful. I just wanted to pick from my gallery or take a new pic with my phone in the least.
Not actually convinced this is a legitimate application. It immediately requested to 'Allow Match to find, connect to, and determine the relative position of nearby devices?' and some other permissions as well, and didn't open or load otherwise. Very strange, immediately uninstalled. You're a paint matching app, why do you need these permissions?
When I started using this tool I had no expectations on what it could do, and maybe as a result of that I think this is an awesome gadget and it works great for me. Use it to scan fabric or whatever to get paint color ideas, don't expect something at this price to be capable of an exact paint color match.
Requires a peripheral tool, why make an app for a phone when the phone app just comprimises your privacy and nothing else.. the phone has a camera, it can take pictures, it can more than likely do what the peripheral is doing.. the app is just a gateway to buy something you will only use a few times then on to the junk drawer. Lame!!!! The sad thing is the homedepot app actually works with the camera no peripheral.
I'm a contractor, so I can't be standing there in front of customer and having this thing refuse to pair unless I uninstall the app and install it again. Also ridiculously, it's not in my list of apps. I have to go to the Google Play store to search by Sherwin and then find the app there, then I can open it. When it does work, I think it does a fairly good job. Which it should do do reliably for $100 Canadian for the device.
SOLUTION: dowload the ben moore Color Portfolio app. Click "Color Capture," upload your photo (crop out all but paint color). Take the color code over Match My Paint Color website...it will give you the closest match in EVERY paint brand, included SW!! REVIEW: I'm also experiencing it sitting indefinitely at the loading screen. Thought it might be a data issue, but doesn't work on wifi either. Uninstalled, reinstall, cleared cache and data, tried logging in & as guest; nothing gets it to load!
You have to purchase a hardware component for this app (camera?). This is totally unnecessary. If you use a white calibration sheet, such as white printer paper, any modern phone camera should be able to capture the true color of paint. The app would identify the reference sheet, then adjust its "color balance" to make the reference sheet white, then match the surrounding paint color to a library.
I was trying to match a color using a photo like you can on home depots project color app (Lowes is the closest store to where I live) but this app is making you connect some sort of light scanning device to color match which I'm sure costs hundreds of dollars. I'm just trying to match a vanity color in my home to paint the walls.
Poor instructions. Doesn't explain what the results mean. I don't know how accurate this is supposed to be but sometimes the top result will say color snap and sometimes it will be the result 6 colors down, with stars, which they also don't explain (or hgtv or color or sw, how are we supposed to know what this is?) but it seems to indicate the farther away from a match, which also means the device isn't accurate or able to do anything but give you close suggestions. Not intuitive. Not accurate. F
Bases on other reviews, I figured out this app requires a proprietary device in order to work. Why doesn't the app make this clear when it loads? Instead it just keeps spinning forever trying in vain to connect to it. It should have timed out and shown an error. The idiots who wrote it obviously never tested the case where the device doesn't exist.
Does not give an acurate color. You take a picture it gives a multitude of colors off of one single color wall with no glare. Whats the point of getting a dozen colors and still have to use the palette strips anyway. Making a single trip insted of multiple trips is the point of the app right. I can just take a photo without the app and do the same thing.... And less than an hour later I got a bot reaponse of its my camera and sreen. I want you as a possible unfortunate to think this works. Ha
Worked amazing the first time i used it! later that day, not so much. ive reset the unit, restarted the phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, nothing fixes it. really frustrating, because its an amazing little device and very helpful, when it works... fix your app, Sherwin-Williams!
Piece of garbage. Complete waste of 59.99 connected perfectly three times have used it. Will not connect, app up to date, app sees the device, app shows serial number, have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, have reset device several several SEVERAL TIMES, have turned off Bluetooth and turned on SEVERAL TIMES. The app knows there is a device but will not connect to it.
The app does not show anywhere on my device. The only way I can open it is to find it on the Play store and open it from there. I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it in the same issue persists. It's the only app that's ever done that of the hundreds I've installed over the years.
