I drive every day in a BMW 7 Series full option. It’s a great vehicle on the road, with a powerful engine and fast pickup. I enjoy driving it every day. The showroom AGMC provides excellent service, and it performs perfectly on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.
The app works well as a generic guide. But, given that it is associated with the owner's particular vehicle and vin, it should correspond to the actual equipment/specification. Disappointing.
Used to work ok but now it won't let me log in. Suspect BMW broke it with last update. Says username & password not recognised but I know it's correct because details are ok on BMW connected app. BMW software seems very flaky. You certainly can't rely on it! Pretty poor really. I expect much better from a company like BMW.
Another update (April 30) which now seems to have partially addressed the login issues. Required to re-register as it will not recognize the login details even though they are correct and allow access to the other BMW connected sites. Who decided you need an account to view what's no more than an owners manual? Totally lost faith on BMW's ability to provide what it promises as far as software is concerned. If the car was this bad it would have been returned to the dealer, not fit for purpose!
Not very vehicle specific. Difficult to find anything unless you know the correct terminology.
Although the VIN number is required for activation, the information and descriptions are not tailored to my specific car but are very general and include optional features not found on my car. It does at least contain details of the media/navigation system that the printed handbook does not, although the query I originally installed it for was not answered. Not much better than the printed handbook but at least I carry it with me at all times.
Unable to login any longer, with the same credentials I use successfully to log on to the Connected Drive Web site. Now the app has become useless. If BMW tests their cars like their apps... God save us! Maybe one day I'll be locked out of my car, too!
Worked great until latest update! Didn't need to log in to access 1 series handbook. After update requires login and internet connection to see handbook! Absolutely ridiculous and now useless app. Wish I'd left alone but thought there'd be new functions and info. Honestly I expect better from BMW! What rubbish and obvious data/location harvesting.
Ok - finally BMW appear to have fixed the login issues. However, there are quite a few bugs with this version and it keeps closing. Dont see the same issues on the iPhone version. Nothing changed after latest update - still can't log in! Worked great until it updated itself tonight. Now I can't login using my BMW account so can't use it. Seems I'm not the only one! I'm using a Moto G5 on Android 8.1
Absolute rubbish! Impossible to log in. Despite checking and trying over and over again, to the point of resending a "forgotten password" request - despite knowing I had the correct one in the first instance - it still tells me that my account does not exist. Frustrating in the extreme. I agree with a previous comment that the BMW development team should be fired! I wish I could rate this App "0" ... "1 star" is too high a praise for this piece of garbage.
It was nice at first, but when I made a mistake and had it updated it started requiring a log in and that was it. I don't find it worth it going "personal". Now that I am reviewing, they tell me the application is no longer compatible with my device. Oh, what a news!
Very disappointing. Having used the previous BMW i Drivers Guide, I was forced into upgrading to this version. So, giving it a fair go, I installed and then logged in. So far so good. The app even recognised the VIN number of my vehicle from previous app, but then says there is no information to download for this vehicle! What, you've replaced what was a fairly good app with one which does absolutely noting for me and my i3 !!
I've just downloaded version 2.4.9 and it finally started working. Although I needed to re-register my account, as apparently the connected drive account no longer "counts" and you need to make a new one just for this app. Anyway, once you get it started, it works just fine and it's a nice digital drivers manual.
Useful app when you're getting to know your vehicle. It's great that it kept update making relevant and useful. Would like a deeper level of understanding in some areas, for example, using USB memory sticks. A clear definition of preparation (formatting with FAT32), the copying of files with artwork, playlist creation, supported file types, etc. Please don't just focus on iTunes.
Still not working for users in South Africa. How a brand like BMW can make a mess like this is beyond me. Edit: just got an update a few hours after posting this. It's finally working. I like having all my manuals available instantly, so the app itself is great. Four stars. But I'm leaving my review at one star because they messed up so badly.
Worked fine when registered on the app before signing up to Connected Drive. Now installing on new phone and have to put in Connected Drive user name and password. This app won't accept those - tried changing Connected Drive password, deleting and reinstalling app, trying on different device. Spoke to BMW - passed to 3 different people. No answers. Seemed this was new problem to them despite similar reviews on here. Really frustrating as Owners Guide app was very good and had used it a lot
Install app, Accept terms, Login, Accept privacy policy, Being logged in for no reason at all, being forced to re-enter Vehicle ID (which is connected to my login), Download-Screen, 0.3kb/s, Error 1007. Sure why not. G32 was cheap, why bother having guides. Thanks for absolutely nothing BMW. This just adds to the app/online/connected landscape of yours.
Information doesn't fully correspond a car model, even though it requires to input a VIN. Remote software upgrade is not available in the car at all (late 2019 530e), but both paper manual and this one describe nonexistent menu options. Technical data, fuel/electricity consumption is not in the manual at all - it sends you to the paper manual, but I couldn't find anything there either. I hate to admit the BMW is extremely poor with software and documentation for their own products.
In my earlier review I mentioned it's not possible to use your European login credentials, and that's still the case. The app allows you to make a another login, just for it and then it works. Once logged in, it works well - easy to navigate and read.
