Forget trying to get items downloaded The purpose of this app is to enable users to download apps, watch faces, widgets, etc. to their Garmin device. You can find and add items to the download queue easily. However, the actual downloads stop due to the connection between the device and app timing out or the phone going to sleep. It won't continue in the background while I have the main Garmin Connect all running. I am very disappointed in the performance of this app.

Meh. The variety of choices is good, but there is no way to sort or filter down when you are looking for particular features. You can perform a keyword search, but no way to refine by type, so you still have to scroll through hundreds of irrelevant results in hope of finding what you are looking for. An advanced search option would go a long way to improving this app. Some suggested categories: analog vs digital, background color, images yes or no, Health data, trackers... The list goes on....
Navigation leaves a lot to be desired. You can't drill down to, say, watch faces by Garmin sorted newest to oldest. No sorting, and filtering by one criteria means you can't account for any of the others. Also, when you select an app to look at in more detail and then navigate back to the prior screen, you're back at the top of the very long list.
Nice concept, but rough execution. The navigation is messy, there's no way to filter results to find what you're actually looking for (paid vs free, for your device, colour, etc). Probably the most disappointing thing is FaceIt - it has so much potential but just falls way short. There needs to be more customization for what data to display on the watch face in particular (there's no heart rate option??), and more than 8 colour options would be nice.
Literally the worst app I've ever used. There appears to be zero ability to search or sort by your actual watch, so if you want to find something, all you can do is sort every single thing uploaded to this app, and scroll the 30,000 items until you find one that you like. That also happens to be compatible with your watch. I'm fairly certain this isn't even an official Garmin app, because I can't believe a company as big as Garmin would think it's a good idea to release something like this.
I used to enjoy using this app to find watch faces for my Garmin. Now it has been reorganized and finding a new watch face is a chore. You have to select digital or analog, you cant view both, and they appear to only be sorted by popularity. So you always see the same apps first and have to spend time scrolling to find one you haven't already rejected or tried before. Way less efficient, way less user friendly.
Every time I attempt to view an app, watch face, or any other item from the Connect IQ store, the app responds with a server cannot connect error. This is both on WiFi and cell networks. The initial pages showing apps and watch faces loads, but nothing else works in the app. Disappointing that the app doesn't work in a very basic way.
3 months now with the same connection issue. App does not hook up to garmin servers, customer service has neglected to provide me with a solution, or even an update or response, and all of my garmin apps have now refused to work with my phone. Spotify doesn't work, text doesn't work, alarms- none of it. Terrible customer service and unresolved issue. Still waiting on response from several emails to customer service. I should have bought a shearwater.
The UX isn't great. Or maybe the issue is more with the user guide/instructions. For example - I have a music watch and am trying to sync it up with my Spotify account. Is this done via the IQ app, the Garmin connect app, the watch or the Spotify app? The answer is that you've got to use all 4! And if you want to add music from your own library then this involves downloading additional software onto your laptop. It's all quite confusing.
search options non existent, organised like flea market, e v e r y time I start it, have to go back, force stop it, erase cache, and enter again. If it is opened more than several minutes, it loses conection. Repeated signin-in. Four, five times in a row.
Useless. I've lost count of how many different paths to failure I went down in trying to get my watch to connect to the IQ app. It seems to find a new way to bug out every time. The main issue is it transfers to the garmin connect app to 'connect', says it has connected but is not showing as connected once back in the IQ app. This is NOT just device specific as my partner has an iphone and garmin watch and has the exact same issue. No amount of restarting solves it. Sort it out Garmin.
Would you like to waste hours trying to get the basic app features to work? Get a Garmin!! Stuck on endless loading loop page. I still had constant connection issues when it was 'working'. Both this and the Garmin Connect app are getting worse, slower, and more buggy. I just want to open the Garmin apps and sync within seconds so I can view my data, and all past data, quickly. Nope, to hard. I'm just about done with Garmin. I won't be getting a new watch once this one dies.
The overall experience is terrible. Watch faces are slow to upload, slower still to update. Updates often freeze and even when they don't, they take forever to finish. New faces sometimes get stuck in endless install process until the whole storage is taken. Browsing is also cumbersome, when you leave details of a watch face you're always brought back to the beginning of the list which makes your scroll ever more each time. Also the preview feature is deeply missing. Shame, shame!
took me way too long to realize that the "connect iq" app just doesn't connect to the device when the "connect" app isn't installed. oh. and once I did manage to connect, the connect iq app deleted all my payment registration codes from my watch apps.
Good morning team, I believe there is room for improvement in this app. For instance, the search menu. When a user search for some item such music or watch faces normally enter the items on the result set to explore the information, but when return to the list the filter is missing and the search is executed again. Sometimes I have been scrolling searching a while for a new faces and the search is executed again and is back to the first element, then I loose interest in exploring the list again.
The learning curve was a little demanding but worth it. I wear my watch full time and having my sleep and workout data on my phone for review anytime has helped me stay engaged with my fitness goals. Love this app!
Good generally though I hardly use its exercise tracking features. Lack of connection ability to 3rd party scales/health metrics is only major annoyance.
The latest "update" just broke the app. It won't go past the loading screen, so I can't get into the app for anything. Great job, Garmin...
verbose, vague, confusing and bloated. nothing is intuitive. difficult to do basic things. eg. no walking activity. the most overrated software. enough to get rid of watch
red "No internet" banner even when I have internet. Accidental swipe removes apps from list. Would be great to have a setting to disable this feature
