For the most part, I love the app. CR has a great selection and the mobile app usually runs quite smoothly. The one thing I have a problem with is the store. If I click to see the store; my app goes white except the bar to switch areas of the app. My phone is fully updated and I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling multiple times, to no avail. This has been an issue for quite a while. I'll gladly give 5 stars if this issue gets fixed.

Quality degrades with every price hike, which is counterintuitive. even with a "premium" account, you see ads gimmicked as "previews", every other day you have to confirm any devices you used the day before, save the one you make payments on, which recently became every other day confirmations of premium status. Edit: Funny, my subscription page doesnt say " no 3rd party ads" does it? lt says "no ads" odd that you think I care whether the ad is yours or not. for soon $14/mo, I expect better.

Not sure what is happening with this app, not sure if there's something wrong with the server. It's constantly buffering again. This happened for the first time 6 yrs ago. If you guys are going to raise the prices, at least make the app usable. I don't want to have to look for other options, but this constant buffering will lead me towards canceling my subscription because this is ridiculous, I even can't enjoy watching my shows.

Literally EVERY time I use the app, not 5 minutes into the episode, the player goes black. Audio and subtitles still go through, but no picture. Nothing besides reinstalling the app entirely or waiting days fixes the issue and only temporarily. I've cleared cache, wiped app data, restarted my device, but nothing. I'm getting very tired of it. I pay to use this service, have for a while. I'm about to be a pirate again at this rate. Fix your damn app, PLEASE!

Hi Crunchyroll Team, for a few months now when I try using the app it crashes within seconds of opening. Even with version releases I think I have only got it working a couple times, I usually watch on my TV or laptop but would love to use it on my phone while on the road. When it crashes, the only options are 'close' or 'wait', not option to report logs and waiting doesn't help. Tried clearing app cache and reinstalling with no results. I have an Android S25 ultra and everything is updated.

This rating would be five stars if there wasn't a glaring issue with how the subtitles work in this app: All animes have text in Japanese, and there is no way to view the translation text while viewing the English dub unless you turn off Closed Captioning and switch to alternative English subs. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but Closed Captioning is the only way to get subtitles for the English dialogue and text translation is only available for the alternative English subs.

They raised the price and added Ads and popups to paid users. Also they don't let you select stream quality (1080p 720p ect) they just have things like "highest quality" which sometimes drops into the lowest quality instead of buffering. Some could argue that's better, but in my opinion, it doesn't really work for anime it just makes it look horrible.

App is now impossible to use. All menu options are at the very bottom of the screen, Behind the on screen buttons for my phone. so I can't use this all at all. Even on my TV show thumbnails never load anymore. Crunchyroll just never works right anymore. Update: 3! 3 updates and the app is STILL unusable because navigation options are Behind my phones on screen navigation buttons. I'm about to cancel my subscription and demand a refund. Absolutely Ridiculous!

I've never had an issue with the app until recently. They started showing "pre-roll trailers" at the beginning of videos that Crunchyroll claims are not ads. Which is absurd. ALL trailers are commercials/ads. Even if they're ads for Crunchyroll. I'm paying to not have any. Even if they're skippable, it's still an interruption. I never needed "help" to find a show to watch. The front page of the app/website already promotes shows. No need to interrupt. At least the website isn't doing this...yet.

I like the app. I use it to watch anime a lot. The only thing is I don't like how the membership prices keep rising up. I understand money is important, but $13.99 per month is a bit too much. I will obviously continue paying, but I just think it's a bit too much for an anime streaming platform to charge.

Crunchyroll needs to remove these "skippable trailers", they're ads plain and simple, from premium accounts. I pay for premium to have an ad free experience. It doesn't matter if they're skippable or not. Half the time it's showing me a trailer for a show I've already watched too. The removal of the comment section is also something I'm still super bummed about. It was fun going down into the comments after watching a new episode to discuss it with other people that just watched too.

After paying for the service for years, I'm canceling my subscription because they decided to start inserting advertisements for themself at the beginning of videos. This is no longer an "ad free" service and it's only a matter of time before prices go up (again) for a worse experience and suddenly "ad free" means "fewer ads" The overall user interface has declined and has been a pain for a while. And the chat bot saying these don't count as ads because they aren't third party is disingenuous.

Well, they fixed the English CC subtitles issue in smart TVs, but now the option to play next episode manually (the arrow in the upper right corner when the episode is playing and at the left of the gear icon) disappeared! I have to exit the episode, go back to the episode's menu and select "play next", which is not bad but the option is still there in smartphones or web view. The next episode actually does not play automatically either. once it finishes, it goes back to the menu. Only in TVs.

Crunchyroll used to be great, but subtitles on anything recent have gotten really bad and/or lazy. Unlike before, on screen text is no longer translated. Now is some dialog when watching English. if you are watching the English dub of a show, and the character is singing, which, which is traditionally done in Japanese, the subtitles will only say" singing in Japanese". this means you are likely to miss important context in episodes now if it's not directly spoken. I doubt they care.

The subtitles are trash and AI generated so most of them don't make sense, especially on smaller name titles. Every time you play another anime, you need to go back into settings to turn on subtitles with a Chromecast and Google Streamer. Super annoying and inconvenient. It doesn't do it for the Samsung TV though so it must be a bug. Selection is great but they have no competition so no incentive to do anything better. Edit: I have tried contacting support about subtitles and got no response.

I still like the app and what they bring, but I do not like it consistent price increases that have been happening. $180 now for a year or $215.88 for paying per month over the year is insane. I pay less for Amazon and I get many more benefits. I paid for a year before it increased for $150, and once it runs out, I'm done with crunchyroll.

I don't know what changed in the past week or two. I have a premium account and I've tried disabling my DNS, WiFi, Cellular, uninstalled the app and re-installed it. Nothing works, I can navigate to an episode just fine but it will never play the episode, just spins forever. The website works fine on my laptop on the same network. What gives?

I just got hit with an ad even though im paying for a subscription??? even if it's a small trailer rather than an ad, I'd rather not be forced to watch and skip ads every episode I click on. atleast make it toggleable in the settings if I want to receive trailers or not in the beginning of every single episode. at this point why even pay for a subscription. I'd basically have the same experience on a free website but with 8 extra dollars to my name per month

Membership details and management have been a nightmare. When I wanted to adjust my membership, I couldn't without fully unsubscribing and waiting a month for it to run out. Then, the different membership pricing options I had seen before were nowhere to be found, and it tried to convince me that the only way to get the manga options was to buy the most expensive membership.

The watch history sync is broken and incredibly frustrating. No matter the device, the app fails to keep a correct record of where I left off. Every time I return, it shows I’m several episodes behind or forgets my progress entirely. I have to manually check each episode just to find my spot. It’s a complete hit-or-miss experience that makes me want to just use a browser with extensions instead. For a paid service, this basic feature should actually work. Please fix the sync issues!
