I'm a psychologist, and on a whim decided to look at an app for some of my clients as we had begun using diary cards more regularly. As someone who has DBT as their primary orientation, this is an excellent app and I highly recommend it. reminders to use the diary cards are an excellent touch! update: devastated that the newer updates have made this overwhelming to complete. it's still useful, but I recommend it significantly less now.
A friend of mine recommended me this app because its really helped him. But I can't seem to get past the registration. It sent me the code via email. I plugged it in and it says invalid code, resend the code. So I did three different times. Then I closed the app, reopened it, tried logging in and it says the account doesn't exist. But when I tried to resign it up with the same information it says it Does exist! Very frustrating! And emotional! Please fix!
It's a great app, but there is no way I can justify $12 a month for it, and the free version is inadequate. One big negative is that you can't combine diary cards into a weekly report; you can only email them individually. I would probably pay $10-$15 to buy the app, but even with the discount for buying six months at a time, it is crazy to pay $120/year!!
I'm not giving five stars because I continuously get my purchase unlinked and I don't find out until I'm doing a diary entry and I can't add a new emotion or what I was doing to track correctly unless I completely leave that diary entry and restart it. It would also be nice to be able to change the order of the check-in on top of choosing what to check in about. Other than that this is an absolutely amazing app that has made it easy to use DBT in the moment when it's needed most. Thank you!
I'm bummed. I tried it for a couple of weeks and then bought the premium version, only to find out that it doesn't work properly. It won't let me adjust settings, due to a permissions issue (my phone has given it all permissions). It won't save my daily check ins and I don't receive the reminders. I've emailed customer support and have not heard back. Will not be renewing the subscription. I don't even think the app is being continuously updated but the creators are still taking the cash.
Very impressed with this app!! I have been looking for a DBT app, to help me refresh my skills & that also provides a daily diary card, for over a year. I finally found this one & it has everything I need/want & even more than that! I did purchase the subscription because it has such quality content that it was worth the price in my opinion. I could spend the same amount of money buying a paper workbook and diary card book so I feel like this is the same, if not better content and saves a tree!
I like the app and it's really helpful for people who need it. But it's so expensive! Seriously?! LOWER THE FEE! People who need this are in therapy and paying a lot of money, then you want $12 A MONTH to add basic features like uploading my logs even to myself, add more options to log, basic things that should be in the app. I understand having a fee to pay for the development but not this much. And only for the advanced features like auto contacting the therapist or something like that.
Great app, as someone who works in the mental health field I've used this with many of my patients and have had great results. The only turn off for me is the subscription platform, I REFUSE to subscribe to anything, I would much rather pay a single one-time price that's higher then have to deal with subscriptions that I'm likely to forget and continue to get charged for.
I'm finding it gotcha. I agree with the distance card. It would be ideal if we could customize to our best usage model. Mine froze when I tried to add an activity. I had to uninstall to reboot. When my objective is journaling, I'd like to go straight there. Haven't yet gotten that far, despite several attempts. 🤷 The app is sure a great idea! I wish each one of the diary measures was linked to an explanations, resources, etc. List of emotions, and so on.
I honestly feel like this has the potential to be a pretty great an helpful app; it's too bad it feels as though it takes advantage of people. I recognize the hard work and great design, but if I'm expected to pay over 100 dollars to keep it on my phone for a year, there's a problem. My spotify doesn't cost that much and they have artists to pay. I was considering impulsively buying the full thing because I would need to to track my behaviors that aren't listed, but I don't think it's worth it.
Unless you plan on paying $12 a month, this app is severely limited. Most of the features require a monthly subscription to use, which severely limits its. thearapudic potential. If you're looking for an alternative, I reccomend DBT Travel Guide. It's not quite as interactive, but the features are free. It also has guided meditations & reccomends exercises for emotional crisis based on your mood.
Unless you plan on subscribing, there is very little you can do with the app. If that was the only issue, I would have kept it installed. However, with Android 11 and DBT Coach, it is impossible to clear the daily 7pm notification "gentle reminder" notification. The nail in the coffin for uninstalling is *you cannot change any of the notification settings unless you subscribe! * Yes, give someone who has anxiety, no option to clear a notification on their phone. Yeah, hard pass. 🤦♂️
I've been looking for an app to complete my diary cards. This app has it. You tap on the skills you used then you have a slide bar for your urges, etc. There's a place to enter what skills you tried to use in certain situations and how effective they were. It makes the beginning of the session much easier to remember and you don't have to worry about a paper diary card.
I truly love this app, I just wish that all the components would work. I go to open the lessons and they crash the app. if they don't crash it they just don't open at all. I love getting the more in depth learning from the app that i don't get in my meetings please fix this issue. Emailed you: My app still crashes even after I did all you suggested. Still think it is a great app. Can't wait to get full use out of it.
Have been unable to log in via Facebook account for a few weeks now. Facebook shows "App not active: This app is not accessible right now and the app developer is aware of the issue. You will be able to log in when the app is reactivated." But all of my tracking data and purchased subscription is on this account. Never heard back before via email when had issues logging in, unresponsive. This is a really great app otherwise for mood tracking, DBT skills, etc.
This app has a great concept, but has not been worth the trouble at all. My therapist has been trying for three months to gain access to the clinician app, but all his communications with the developers go unanswered. More than half the time the app won't even launch- it just sits with the logo for 10+ minutes, and several times my diary card entries have not been saved. I asked for my subscription to be refunded and received no response. Don't waste your time or money.
I love the layout of the app, the free features are great if you are a recent DBT graduate and just want to use the journaling options. The paid portion is great if you are trying to brush up on your skills years after graduating from DBT. I would have rated it higher if the app didn't freeze often and have to be closed and reopened often.
This is, by far, the best app I've ever used. It puts the daily DBT cards to shame. The free version is totally and fully rounded. The paid version is slightly better in that it allows some additional customization of the free version and will email your therapist with app progress. The app was recommended to me by my therapist and I LOVE IT!!!!
Good information. However, many lessons can load indefinitely, no video plays for the connecting with therapist in settings (effectively stopping any information on this feature), and the app crashes when trying to view lessons like (TIPS). For the price to access, these issues don't support an efficient quality assurance. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the app twice now. This hasn't fixed the issue. An update is needed with adjustment to the code.
This is such an awesome tool for me! I'm a DBT lover and have been since I started DBT in 2019, but I struggled for years to find an effective online/app-based tool to log my progress and skills usage. DBT Coach helps me keep a record of the skills I use in a day, the moods that bring on the need for each skill, and the mitigating activities that matter to me like medications and self-care. I'm even able to email reports to my therapist!
