Used to be fantastic, but now I'm locked from using it. It will no longer translate because "(I) seem to be offline" but I am definitely connected. Tried across multiple internet sources and on data (even though it used to work on data before), and tried uninstalling and reinstalling. It's not worth the time to create an account just to get help (because you must create an account to get help) for an app I only used to use a few times a week.

I like the app and the accuracy of the translations. But there's two flaws that drives me mad. When you use the voice translation option you have no ability to use punctuation. Other voice to text applications will automatically punctuate your speech. The other issue I have is with how long the mic will remain "hot." So many times I'm finding myself having to speak as fast as possible without pausing or else the mic stops listening and I have to start all over again.

This all USED TO BE amazing. However, sadly now since some recent update it's constantly crashing and worthless, always saying "there's an error." The only fix I've been able to find is uninstalling and then reinstalling, only for it to work a day or two and having to do the same thing again. It's a real bummer, hopefully they get it sorted soon.

Easily the best Japanese translator I’ve ever found or used. It’s hard to imagine there are better ones out there, especially for free. Even outside of Japanese, DeepL is a pretty reliable translator. One thing that seems unique to them is the providing of alternative translations. I think it’s really useful and helpful. The app is easy to use. The only thing missing would be a dictionary or even a history, but, still, hands down, one of the best translators out there.

It does seem accurate. (German translation). But unlike the desktop version, the ability to change between the infomal you (du) and the formal you (Sie), is not an option. It does indeed seem more accurate than Google Translate. But just like Google translate, one is stuck with the Formal Sie (you) when translating. Still, anyway, a good app.

Superior translation quality as compared to Google Translate and/or Microsoft Translate. However, the camera translation function is inferior. It does not convert languages in real time. With DeepL you must take a photo and wait. Also, the number of languages is far more limited. But, the major Western languages are covered and, with respect to those, such as German, French et. al., Deepl offers considerable superior translation quality, very close to equaling a real human.

The desktop version is probably one of the best, if not the best, translators for documents and text I have ever used. It allows you to toggle between formal and informal speech (I use it for Spanish, mostly), to check for alternative vocabulary words or phrases, and to translate audio. I only gave it 4 stars because the mobile app is more limited in that it doesn't allow for the ability to check for alternative words but it's still superior to other translation apps I've used in the past.

I really like using this app most of the time, its one of the best translation apps out there, and I especially appreciate the feature of word by word alternate translations, which goes a long way to making sentences more comprehensible. however, I got this for reading manga, and when I plug images into the app, it does not translate in the proper right to left reading order, resulting in multi-line sentences being cut up and shuffled into incomprehensible gibberish.

Great app, I'm using it a lot! But compared to the deepl website, there is one thing that could be improved in the mobile version. When I have the input set as detect language and I write something in the output language, the browser would change the output to the next language in the list. But in mobile, without manually changing it, I would translate in the same language. That would be a great feature to implement in the mobile app too.

I love this app. The translations are mostly accurate and very quick, and it's very good for translating slang. There are no ads and you can save as many translations as you want to look through them later. However, one feature I really loved was the ability to tap on a word and look at synonyms, the gender and infinitive of the word, and see how the word is used in example sentences. I'd also like a list of all the conjugations of a word (either for pronouns or for the different tenses.) Thanks

This app is amazing. When compared to other translation apps, DeepL stands out in a good way. As expected, there are a few hiccups here and there, but I would rather have a wonky translation than a useless one. I accidentally deleted some saved translations, I feel like it might be too easy to do so. Asking for confirmation, or having undo would be nice.

This is definitely better than any other translator I have tried so far! However, unreliable because too often, it suddenly stops translating unexpectedly and displays a message saying "Access Denied" with explanation that too many requests are being sent to server. Once this happens, it's impossible to use the translator for a while, especially if you open DeepL in incognito browser to try again, then go to try app once 2nd browser messes up, only for all three methods to have same end result.

Changing it so that you have to pay a separate fee for Write is lame. I'm not even on the base level plan. It's one of the more expensive ones. It was a useful tool until now. I might just cancel altogether. It's not like the paid version of the translator offers anything special compared to the free one. Write would have been an excuse to keep the plan. Oh well.

Easily one of the best MTLs out there, most of the time Deepl's translation is better than google. 2 reasons I didn't give 5 stars is because when using the phone app there is no way(that I've found so far) to just draw the characters of let's say, Japanese, Korean or chinese. And better image recognition, when selecting an image from your gallery the image will display, but if there are any foreign characters Deepl will not see them. Having these upgrades would certainly improve my rating.

I LOVE this app, it's very accurate! however I would like to see a few modes. camera mode - As in being able to use the camera to see languages (a stop sign for example) and have the app translate it. Along with a picture upload mode - As in if we upload a picture that has a different language on it, it'll translate the picture. And maybe even conversation mode - you say the word outloud and the app translates it.

After reading the reviews on several transl apps I chose this one & I made a good choice. I purchased online an item that I couldn't understand the instructions for because they were in Chinese. I just used this app to take a pic of the pages & it translated them to English. And NO ads, so far. Only issue I have with this & other apps like it is, you need to know what language the text is in in order for it to be translated. What if YOU don't know what language the text is in???

On first try translating from English to French, I like that several alternative translations are provided. People will express an idea in different ways when speaking their language. People do not speak in cookie cutter sentences. My only critique is that the French that is spoken is sooo slow. I would like to see controls in settings to adjust the rate of speech and a choice between male voice(s) or female voice(s).

The App is good, but there are some things I'd mention for improvement. 1. The American English voice is too fast and too robotic. It doesn't sound natural. 2. The App stops from listening very quickly, when I'm speaking in English. English quick is too accelerated, either for listening of for speaking. 3. Even in my mother language, I have to continue fluidly speaking, because if I do a pause, the App stops from recording. As a consequence, I have split out my recording in several pieces.

An almost perfect translation app. The only thing that DeepL is missing, is a handwriting feature. For languages that use different scripts, (think Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic,) this is a good tool to have. Besides that, DeepL has the most accurate translations. I've heard someone who's bilingual state something like "That's a translation? Really!?" when reading something translated by DeepL. I haven't needed to purchase any subscriptions yet. The free features are generous and satisfactory.

Works fairly decent. However, rating 3*s for some pretty annoying issues. 1) I use this for communication in a game. Every once in awhile, it injects a link into the clipboard to advertise. Remove this and I'll give another star. 2) the sidebar tab doesn't stay on. All permissions have been granted, but the quick access tab disappears and doesn't stay, so I have to go in the app and exit, then it comes back on. This is super annoying. Again, fix this and I'll give another star.
