Deseret News

APP is great. Keeps me up to date on what's going on in Utah as I live out of state. Seems easy to use & have no problem loading pages. Do see is becoming just like most journalism. ( What was once called yellow journalism, yes, went to school for journalism glad I'm not in it) At least the I can get some of the news I want. The updates are quick, not overwhelming. Thank you for continuing to send Faith Based notices. Update 9/21/19

Things were great but went downhill with the new app. Links don't always go to the right article. It also needs to show more history than just articles from the last day. That was great with the old app, I could always go back and see old articles if I missed them but I can't anymore. Update- I deleted the app. Too few articles and the inability to see older articles with the latest update wasn't worth it.

Worked great for years. This week it stopped working. Like other posts, I have removed and installed several times over several days including today. Very disappointing to see the support team respond that all is fixed when it is not. Jan 27, 2021 Update, after a few weeks, tried it again and it is working fine. Which is how it worked for several years.

The product is good, the delivery needs some bug fixes. This new app version is terrible. The Featured and Latest sections only contain about 20 stories, old version could load a hundred or more. The stories in Featured stay there for 5+ days, making it pretty useless to check as it's all old news. Latest won't even load all of today's news. In-line ads regularly cover up 2-5 lines of the article text. It's very common to click on a story and have a different one come up. Please fix!

I love to read the Deseret News every day because of the variety of articles both national and local. UPDATE - I love the Deseret News as stated but I can no longer see it on my phone.... I've uninstalled it 3 times and tried to reinstall but it's not working. So for right now.... I miss it! Tried again and it works great!! Thank you for responding!

Seems to be getting better. Needs to be more user friendly. Too much navigation to get too little information. Too many multi level links. //Updated: 1-12-2000= Cutting thru the falderall continues to be the most important, yet the most difficult part of the process. I use only the text mail version. What am I doing that causes me such frustration ??

Finding earlier stories from previous days by scrolling down the home page I found, surprisingly, better than every other news site. Just leave articles all up for the public to read conveniently... at a later time. Good reporting shouldn't be just thrown away like expired bakery products. Many stories endure in value long after a day or two. Thank you.

The app is buggy and has been for years. It often sends double push notifications for same article. When you are finally tempted to read the article on the push notification and tap, it promptly takes you to a completely different article. So then you have to go search through app.

I have enjoyed this app for a few years. This week however, it won't open up. I get an immediate pop up, stating it stopped working and needs to close. I have tried everything, but can't get to work. I would give 5 stars for the years it worked, now it is only a 2. I gave to read online without app.

So few articles. There used to be an unlimited number of stories to read but the new app only gives you ten articles. Where are the rest of the news stories? I am now adding to my review: Now ads pop up on top of the stories so you cant read them. Still giving it only 1 star.

Just uninstalled. I used to love the Desert News. Every notification is an opinion article for click bait. They have gone from a moderate, unbiased voice to pushing agendas and taking stances to get the clicks. I want more facts and reporting and less opinion. We get enough opinion from everywhere else.

Even in the short time I've had the app, I've noticed the stories leaning more and more towards a left-wing bias. I thought I could trust Deseret News to bring me decent, unbiased local news but, once again, I've been let down by another local news firm. What a shame.

This doesn't work, I can't even finish reading an article. There was an ad, and I tried to scroll past it, but there was nothing! The articles are good on the website, but this app should be skipped over.

I actually enjoy this app because the writers at Deseret News are so good and the app is very easy to navigate. My only problem is that the Mr. Mac ads cover parts of the articles. I would really appreciate it if someone at Deseret News could fix this. Thank you!

Latest update lowered the quality of the app significantly. Much less content than before. I used to go to Latest and browse days of stories I may have missed. Even specific sections have maybe five articles. The header showing today's date takes up 1/3 of the screen, a prime example of designers putting design ahead of utility. I read the article about this update and to be honest, I have a hard time seeing how this was an improvement. Please roll back to the prior version of this app.

I love the app... except, recently it won't load and I have to keep uninstalling it and then reinstall it. I don't know how much more of this I'll put up with before I drop it all together.

For the life of me, why do the notifications only pop up when I click on the app and why do news articles always send me to the mobile web version instead of staying within the app?

The app should include the feature to open links from other sources, but does not. Would get one or two more stars if it did.

Pretty good. Free to read, but with quite a few ads. Would much rather deal with ads than pay for it, though, so here we are.

Lately it has been frustrating that the news no longer updates on its own. I have to constantly uninstall and then reinstall manually.
