I had a technical problem and my cancellation didn't go through, I didn't even notice so I was eventually charged the yearly amount (that is disproportionate to what they offer and on comparison with other, better plataforms). They didn't bother nor attended any explanation, even when I have not even logged in the platform since the trial. They stick to their policy of keeping the payment no matter if you immediately notice. My conclusion: don't bother, they just go after your money
Requests are ignored, subscription price quietly tripled, AI slop! This app is now a scam, especially for the slop they have as lessons (literally, half of their new stuff is about how to have AI do creative things for you instead of teaching you how to do it). I requested a yearly subscription to not be applied next payment, they still charged it and at a TRIPLE ($329) of the was charged before. Of course, AI support says no refunds. We'll see about that.
Disappointment and theft. I purchased a year subscription with the allotted 12 credit (1 per month). a few months ago, I received an email telling me they are raising their subscription drastically. so, I told it not to renew when my time was up. my subscription just ended, and they took the remaining credits I had not used without any warning that that would happen. when the advertisement was yours forever, I would assume the credits I paid for would count. This is dishonest.
HUGE PRICE HIKE! I've had the app for a few years. This year they auto renewed at a HUGE price hike. I did not receive notification of this increase, which makes that illegal! I've emailed their "support" & NEVER got so much as an auto reply let alone a real response! Right at Christmas time, a charge for over $300 when it used to be $60ish!! 🤬🤬 I'll be disputing with my bank! Horrible way to treat long term customers.
This app is trash; they deceive you. After the free trial, even with the subscription, you can't get what you had. Everything, like downloadable resources for the video, is locked unless you use a credit or pay for the course( was never required in the trial). The courses that were under Premium can switch to having to use credit.Which you have to pay for. There are NO REFUNDS 0, even after 1 day. There is no continue watching section for videos that aren't bought with credit. Other issues also.
The classes on domestika are great. Definitely have to get them on sale, as the original prices are way overpriced, since you can really find all this information on YouTube for free. I do, however, like the convenience of having all my craft learning videos in one place. The lessons are broken up into short videos, so I can quickly watch one when I have a spare moment. Of course, this only works when the app works, which is rarely. You can download them, with forethought, one video at a time.
App is useless for + Members who have to pay for classes labeled as New + Courses in the app when you can watch the same classes free online web. They need to sync! Something else that needs a LOT of work is the translations that are offered across both platforms (app and web). Some are really good where the teachers actually offer a dubbed version. But most of them don't make any sense at all. Very frustrating!
literally downloaded just to write this review. They charged $350 to my card after ONLY SHOWING THE MONTHLY COST, which indicated it was a monthly charge. They did NOT show the actual annual fee anywhere, nor indicate that they would charge the annual instead of the monthly fee. It's sketchy, predatory, deceitful and scammy, and it's not worth any of it.
I am writing to formally request a refund for the Domestika Plus subscription charge of $129.99 USD.I purchased only one course and did not intend to subscribe to Domestika Plus. It appears that the subscription was added covertly during the purchasing process, and I was not clearly informed or aware of it at the time. I do not use or want the subscription, and I believe this misunderstanding occurred due to a lack of transparency on your platform. I insist on a full refund for the subscriptio
I feel really bad as I love the app and it's content. Beats Udemy by an order of magnitude BUT I got robbed on my course purchase. I have ordered a course but it does not show in my courses. There is no support. Submitted a ticket and they just sent me an automated message pointing to some wiki. Apparently they don't know how to manage accounts. If you can't properly handle people money what's the point of having great content? Really pissed off as I cannot buy any more courses.
Ok.. I absolutely LOVE the instructors and thee courses are amazing and so diverse and really there is something for anyone. The one thing that bothers me is that (like a couple of other apps like this) you pay a (for me) big yearly chunk of money to use the app and then when you think you're in and ready to go, the courses each cost between around $10 to $20. I really do enjoy the courses, so much so, I have a list of them that keeps growing and I'm not finished with any of them yet! I love it.
I'm not letting the fact that some lessons are subtitle only influence the review at all but it should be noted that some are. as a learning platform that provides direct lessons from numerous creators giving you insight into their process, this is a fantastic platform. it also provides a chance to earn credits like with audible at an affordable monthly subscription. for those who can't afford skillshare and find udemy cumbersome, Domestika is the BEST alternative, and it is my go-to.
Scam: unexpected 100+ dollars charge. They added a supposedly free subscription to my cart without my request and charged me for over 100 dollars after two weeks. The original receipt never disclosed this amount. They refused to refund me even if I submitted claims and never used the service. I enjoyed the few individual courses I took, but the company's predatory move made me frustrated and disappointed.
This is a review on just the app. I have loved the Domestika courses and have purchased quite a few. However, the app is basically useless unless you have the plus membership (which just isn't in the budget right now). In order to access my profile, my projects, or any of my classes I've already purchased I have to access it all on the web. That's fine. Just maybe the app should say it's specifically for plus members.
I've experienced same like most users had, where they were charged 100 dollars instead 5.99. I decided to keep the subscription since it was difficult to get a refund. Now I can't even use the app after a recent update, I entered the app and it gave me a pop-up window stating that I need to update. But after updating it still shows the same message and I am unable to click a course or lesson, please fix!!
I signed up for a trial and cancelled shortly into the trial period (a week in). I found that the material wasn't very useful to me. perhaps to others it could be, but it wasn't what I was looking for. The issue was that after I finished the trial they still charged me. $385.54 CAD after I had cancelled and they have a NO REFUND policy even WHEN THEY MESS UP. 10/10 do not recommend, it seems more like a scam to me now.
love this app and platform, so many creative courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced artists and crafters and at a great price too. Not only that but also free mini-workshops which contain some fantastic subjects! I've changed my mind as I can no longsr use the app, it keeps saying I'm using an old version of the app and I need to update it, however, when I go to update it, it just goes back to the app again and so it's going around in circles and I can't do anything with the app
The courses are ok, but really nothing special. The biggest problem is horrible customer support and scamming people on yearly subscriptions. They took 300 EUROS for plus Subscription that I am pretty sure I cancelled over the time of my trial. Even if I didn't, EU customer protection law allows customers to change their mind with a full refund 14 days after purchase. I cancelled Plus immediately, requested a refund and each time got a generic, exactly the same email back, no refund.
Domestika's free trial was a transparent way to trap new customers into paying a £100 annual payment, with no way to cancel during the one week free trial. Shame on them. During and following a free trial, I tried to unsubscribe several times. There is no simple way to do this, and I never received a response from customer services. Plenty of platforms use a free trial to tempt new customers, and I use them often, and sometimes end up a happily paying customer. Not this time.
What a scam. I signed up for a $0.99 Blender introduction last month. First off, the course was terrible but obviously $0.99 won't hurt anyone. I ignored follow-up emails and unsubscribed to everything else to keep my inbox clean, and all is well in my world. Or so I thought. To my surprise I got charged $349 today for a Domestika PLUS subscription I never signed up for. Turns out auto renewal for $349 is mentioned in the SMALL print of the first invoice. This is misleading & malpractice.
