does this app work for what it's needed? yes! however, if you're using a screen reader, this becomes tedious that everything is spelled out letter by letter when you're looking at gifts and then for some reason between the web and the app it gets tedious going back and forth trying to get the to tell you what you get. other than that it's not bad. it works pretty good and I like the selections they have.
It's great. Put in the list of names, and when it comes time to choose, you say who you are (so you don't pick yourself) and you get assigned a random person from the proverbial hat. Each person can make a wishlist within the app and you can view the wishlist of the person you are assigned. It automatically removes items that are above the specified spending cap as well.
it's not the same as it was last year. it was really helpful when you could see others wishlist to buy them gifts and well. it was also useful to be able to go into the links and save the size, color, or any other specific detail that you want for your wishlist item. neither of these features are available this time. so it's very limited and not very useful. it's just easier to draw names on paper and have and excel spreadsheet of things we want.
App is on-balance, functional, it draws names. However, no you capability of providing exceptions to be named drawing is a very good feature but does not allow you to amend the exceptions which is unfortunate because if you add additional members you may need to amend exceptions. Additionally the app does not allow you to link to your own personal Amazon wish list but instead forces you to choose items from its predetermined list of Amazon items which of course are its own Amazon associate link
awesome. every year, the adults do a name drawing with my moms side of the family at either my sister's house or mine. my sister usually does the name drawings somehow, and tells us all who we get and the wishlists. I insisted this year on doing it and finding an app.. I knew by now there has to be truly secret drawings avail with wishlists. . and this one was the 2nd search result but with the best rating. I love it! I don't have to know who everyone draws.. no signup, easy to start.
its a pretty good app. I really like this app. good one the name draws and the gift searching. But was wondering if you could add a second way to add. For people who have two separate Christmas's to draw for. Kinda like I have my family side and my husbands family side. would be amazing if that way possible.
The actual functionality is ok, although I didn't know people could select names straight away, so I hadn't setup the necessary rules in time and you can't seem to reset the name draw once it's happened. Also the wishlist functionality is awful. Please just give me somewhere to paste a URL and a description. I know you *can* add it as plain text but it doesn't become a clickable link and it isn't intuitive. Being steered towards Amazon is a horrible design choice.
I've been using this app for a while now, It worked perfectly fine before until up to today. I was adding some of my wish list items earlier today and got on right about 8pm and as soon as I got on it kept spamming an error, at first I thought it was my phone or maybe I needed a new update for this app so I updated it, restarted my phone yet I came across the same problem again. I can't do anything on this app anymore!
great app. all my peeps are already saved from last time i used app. it also keeps track of who got who on the last name draw so that they don't repeat again. 100% recommend this app.
after a few glitches with the link, the app has made an annoying process simple. it also includes an option for adding items to a wish list so that people know what to buy you. i am aware that it is choosing specific sellers, but who cares 😁
Amazing! Worked really great for our family. We loved that you could make a wishlist and send anonymous questions, but the app defaults to USA without an option to change it to another country. Some of the gifts listed by family members were accidentally over our limit because of the conversion from USD to CAD.
Great for family secret Santa. A couple of issues: I use an Andriod phone my family uses Apple. I can't see my families wishlists. My family is overseas, so I assumed that Amazon would automatically switch to their region it didn't it stayed as my region. These issues make it almost unusable as a wish-list app. Very disappointed. Please fix!
My families have been using this app for a while, and the functionality has improved quite a bit after this last update making it even easier to use! Rather than sending invites directly to individuals, it now allows people to choose their name on a common invite, which seems to be a more intuitive system that works better than before.
I hate being forced to use an app that wants my email address and uses Amazon & Etsy to form a shopping list; I don't need to be forced into an ecosystem to accomplish any of this. there's websites that can perform the randomization task, and other ways to share lists of items that aren't proprietary to specific online marketplaces. edit: drawnames replied that the app can be used w/o email, but I how am I supposed to get a code for activation without giving out personal information?
edit: the fault was on my end apparently. something was wrong with my provider. app works great now that I have stable internet. this is a neat idea, I really like it. the app lags at weird points and has a hard time searching for some items
Although this is my third time using this app, I still think it can be improved upon. Moving between menus is a bit confusing. And I would like a direct link to Amazon to add items not listed on the suggested list.
ugh, something one person decides to use and an entire group has to download, I guess it's nice that it isn't trying to make you make an account or anything. then it asks you to review after you pull a name and it doesn't let you skip it so here it is.
Solid app. Very easy to set up. The only thing I'd suggest is allowing you to manually write in items to your wish list, rather than having to choose from their item list. Still 5/5 stars for me though.
my family started doing a secret Santa a few Christmas's ago, and switching to this site was game changing. it's very intuitive and accounts for any special rule your adding to the secret Santa. It even goes so far as to reach out a few weeks in advance reminding me to start up the celebration every year. I would recommend this app/ website to anyone in a heartbeat
The functionality of the app itself is okay, but the Gift Guide is terrible and basically works as a giant add for Amazon. I ended up having to use the Hobbies and Interests area to create my list for the above reason.
