Description

DuoCard is a language learning app that helps users learn a new language or improve their vocabulary in a language they already know. The app offers flashcards and video language courses to help users learn English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, and other languages quickly and seamlessly. The app uses a space repetition algorithm to help users memorize vocabulary and offers a guess mode to evaluate language learning skills. The app also includes an integrated translator and a vocabulary builder to help users find new words, phrases, and sentences in other languages. The language flashcards learning method with space repetition is a modern approach to language learning. Users view foreign words, phrases, or sentences on flashcards and swipe and sort them as known or unknown. The space repetition algorithm then determines when to repeat the words to help users memorize the vocabulary. The app also offers a guess mode where users can tap on the flashcards to turn them to their native language side and swipe right if they guessed the word correctly or left if they did not. The app includes a vocabulary builder and performance tracker to help users save new words in their English vocabulary decks and track their progress. Users can also watch public videos from YouTube with subtitles and learn from them. The app also allows users to read articles in a foreign language to learn new words and phrases. The app is clutter-free, minimal, and has an appealing layout, making it easy to use. Users can download and use DuoCards – Language Learning Flashcards today to learn a new language fast and easily.

My main complaint now is that I cannot include the gender alongside the noun without losing the extra context the app provides. *Also it's very strange that the groups of cards you can use to pick from always seem to be in sorted order, and you have to either pick or discard, so you can only learn in alphabetical order? Gender support is lacking. Also, the translations are horrible, I have to use Reverso first before I can trust a translation.

This app definitely has potential. I've recommended it to others. But here's why I wouldn't give it five stars (for now): 1) The translations can sometimes be inaccurate. Their AI is not yet on par with, say, chatGPT or Gemini, so I'm finding myself sometimes fixing them with these and importing them here. 2) The listening mode would be awesome if it wasn't so laggy. Sometimes it stops by itself or takes forever to load. It doesn't count as practice either. An offline mode would be a plus.

I like it! The ability to share words to the app to add them to the deck is very convenient and the time between words feels a little better for me than other flash card apps. The use of AI means you sometimes need to make corrections, even in the pre-made decks. Minor issues: 1. Touch sensitivity seems off during matching quizzes, and you have to double-check if it registered. 2. Sometimes a card comes up and is replaced by another card, and it's confusing to know which word I'm answering.
