ive played this game since 2012 on my laptop. it has only cemented its legacy as a money grab/ pay to win manipulation game. you dont have to put money in but then ur play is very limited and only really fun at lower levels imo as when u get higher the gap only widens. I like the idea. always have. yet the reality is inescapable. it is a bit boring. the gameplay doesnt evolve its repetitive and I knew I was only ever wasting time here. which is fine. thats why we play games sometimes.
Getting kicked out of the game just so one offer can load in the middle of sending an attack is getting frustrating. If this continues I will be find something else to spend my time and $$$ on. Offers don't bother me. It is when the game kicks me out so they can load that is frustrating. Or when there are 10 back to back. Let us finish sending attacks at least. I see other reviews get replies. The fact you have ignored this is evidence enough you have no desire or care about game experience.
This game advertises itself as free to play, but is anything but. To be anything more than a punching bag takes pretty serious cash, a problem that's been accelerating of late. There's also lots of micromanagement required with the new mead troops, and "extra" events that are required to keep up which cost like $100 every other week -- if you want to get anywhere. Periodically Greedy Game yanks the rug from under purchases, obsoleting all your efforts. Can't really reccomend this game to anyone.
Developers are finding new ways to force players to spend money. Some of the latest updates have made certain building upgrades a prerequisite. Those building upgrades require that you spend 100s of thousanda of rubies. It is possible to get rubies without spending but 100s of thousands is going to take years to accumulate. They have also embedded new worlds in the game recently that are almost mandatory to keep up in the 'arms race' of the game. Spending is the only way to keep up.
I've been playing for years & it started great but the higher you level the more $ it gets. A major issue is their refusal to add confirmations on ruby buys. It's very easy to accidentally buy without intending (phone slips or hit check instead of x). I can understand needing to make a profit, it should not be from errors. The other issue is even though it's a wargame you will deal with complete jerks/bullies who suck all the fun out & if they're heaving spenders Goodgames turns a blind eye.
Love the game been playing for years. I am the leader of a wonderful alliance. My one and only problem is that my phone decided to reboot and update, and I lost my place, and had to start all over. I had 150,000 rubies that I paid for, and can't use. I did get back with my alliance, but really wish I could have my original castle. Not sure if I will continue on if I can't return to what took me years to build up. Anyone have any ideas? Update my other complaint is there are to many updates.
The Good: Game is well designed and fun to play when everything works. The Bad: Goodgame's greed. If you play without buying rubies (the in-game currency) critical items are unavailable. And over the past year GoodGame has started selling upgrades that make Ruby buyers almost invincible against non-buyers. The Ugly: Lots of bugs in the UI that increase with every update.
Back down to one star we go... in an effort to "streamline" in-game transactions, Goodgame has graciously made all purchasable items more granular in how you can obtain them. Rather than the ability to spend money for in-game currency *and* items, you must now pick and choose. Tl;dr, you must now pay more for the same exact content and no new features or content.
The footprint of the game has changed. To stay mildly competitive in war minimum of 100.00 a week. They have structured the packages for purchase to increase the amount of money you need in order to stay in the top 100. You can either purchase defense or offense and you don't get rubies with them. So you need to buy defense package, offense package and then ruby package. Three different packages to obtain what you used to get with one package purchase. The game is also losing players fast.
Was fun, but the last few updates have made the game pay to win. I have spent thousands on this game and am prey to those that out spend me. I have no idea how free players can make it. Large spenders can just buy wins with equipment and upgrades. Didn't used to be this way. Edit: Noticed that the rating falls with each update. Could it be due to the buggy releases and them increasing the in game costs for everthing?
Expensive in app purchases. Poor customer support. App udates are poorly developed, full of glitches requiring hot fixes after, greatly affecting the game with loss of inventory. Extreemly, Extreemly difficult to get them to replace in game losses or refund for items purchased and not received. They usually do not believe the customer and usually find no evidence of a claim even when screen shot evidence is provided. What keeps me playing are the many nice people to interact with while playing.
Was Very fun and very addicting. Great game. Some of the new stuff made the game overwhelming and lost much of my interest. Definitely one of the best empire building games I've come across though. I rarely see people attack eachother anymore because there really isn't much point (unless you are in the top because you spent hundreds of dollars to get there). The game has become entirely Pay to Win (as in hundreds of dollars). Makes it a lot more lame for the f2p players.
Was fun at one time. Riddled with glitches that only get worse with each update, rarely fixed. You used to be able to work hard and advance in the game. Now it's flat out dump your wallet out to get anywhere. Greedy company that has no concern for the working player. New $$$ equipment is obsolete almost upon release. They've ruined what was a great platform in a $$$ grab at a time when people are struggling. The same, unchanged events have been running the last 3 years. Buckle up for monotony!
If you enjoy micromanaging, this is the game for you! There are a few things that I would change about this game, otherwise it's perfect- at least as far as pvp mmo games go. (1) reduce the ad experience, and cull the pay-to-win beast. This game relies too heavily on microtransactions; (2) fix the space issue. Castles fill up fast and buildings get in the way, making it quite difficult to select a hidden building or tower.
Would not recommend game. Very disorganized. Besides the lack of instructions on game play, it's horribly balanced between offense/defense. Game favors attack troops. Improvement purchases quickly become obsolete. Many pop ups. There's an abundance of bullies, so be prepared. Game quickly becomes unenjoyable. Many only maintain because of huge investment in account, many are leaving game. Plus side is, you chat with people from all over.

I used to love this game. Now it's pay to win garbage, that wants players to pay for the simplest things, like moving your castle away from level 70 toxic jerkwads that will burn your base repeatedly even though you're only a level 20. The troops stats are bogus, one class up and even a small amount can wipe your units. It's poorly balanced, not with the times, and no longer worth mine.
I Love this game. my only compliant is that you have to buy Rubies at a certain point to continue building.. And even that would be so bad if it wasn't so stinking expensive.. those of us that can't afford that on a fixed income can't compete with the money players.. Separate the money buyers from the free to play players. Fix that and you will be golden.
Update 2: I spoke too soon. Ads have gotten worse. Update: Seem to be getting a little better, but ads still way too intrusive. Original: Crashes way too much and the ads to spend your money are way too intrusive. Ads are getting worse and they don't replace losses caused by bugs in their game.
Sadly for the first time ever I'm. giving goodgame one star two days now login you get to the image of a castle the connection time just keeps running and you cannot log into account .I've reuplorded app even started a new account but game cuts out again and again. I've checked my device storage ram Internet connection erc all work .goodgame has your game got to big in terms of two many component's running on the app ? hopefully this is sorted out .
Great game slow grind. Only problem is I play the pc version and it must not be cross platform cuz I can't sign into my pc account on here.
