I give only 1*, because I can't, even, create an account. When I downloaded the app & tried finding anything, I got a connection issue. It finally came up & found Aesop's Fables. Tried creating an account, so I could get the book, & got a connection issue. It's not on my end. The issue is because the app owner's internet keeps going out. I found out, from another app, that when the devopers have internet issues the users will have connection issues. It may, also, be that their server overloaded.

Easy to use, ability to modify library and create sub folders for better organization. TTS works beautifully. An app whose function is something to aspire to. EDIT: After using this for years, I must lower my rating. Every time I search for a book I download, the app lists everything in alphabetical order. If you read a lot, this is a nightmare. You have to sort through every single file until you find the right one. Ideally, the files would be listed by date downloaded like they used to.

Used this reader for years, it was logically laid out, simple to use, and sortable for an extensive library. Somewhere along the line, it's been bought out or the developers have gotten mercenary. Along with the annoying ads at the bottom of the main page, there are numerous overlay ads, mostly for childish games which themselves have all sorts of pay to play gimmicks. They are timed so you can't just bypass them. The reader has become almost useless and I uninstalled it.

I've been using this app for 2 years now. It's usually very reliable for text-to-speech with .epub and .pdf files. However for the past couple months the WaveNet engine hasn't been usable despite my subscription. The app is generally reliable for the free text-to-speech engines, but be aware that the paid engines might not be usable despite your purchase. Even re-installing the app and re-subscribing to the engine has a low chance of fixing any problems; in my experience.

Only been using it for a week and so far it is okay. It allows me to highlight and take notes on the doc which is important to me as I am a beta reader. Occasionally the app freezes up for no apparent reason. I haven't been able to open the "Store".Too much data for our plan? And every time I close the app, I get a popup for Audible, which I already subscribe to and told creepy-google ads to stop, so that's annoying as heck. For a free reader, it's not bad, but I only have it because I HAVE to have one. The second I find a better one, I'm done.

This is actually the best app I've ever found for reading my pdf books to me! First of all, it's absolutely gorgeous - the interface is beautiful. They made it look like a little library. Next, you have the option of buying some special voices or using the Google voice. The app scans for file types it can read to you and it's really convenient and easy to use. 5 stars isn't enough for this fun, useful, and time-saving app. Definitely a multitasker's dream app!

this app used to be great, the best, but it apparently doesn't work anymore. can't sign in, can't create a new account. it just keeps saying "lost connection". I tried turning off the wifi. the problem is just the app. I can still navigate the book without signing in but I lost my place in the last book I was listening to on my old phone and I don't want to lose my place in the new book... I wish I could log in and save. 2 stars off for the login errors.

I cannot change the voice in my phone's tts settings; I used to be able to so, so I could use all of the voices in other apps, but something changed and I am left with only one voice, and a not so good one at that. This app used to let me use the wavenet voices across my phone's setting with access to all of the wavenet voices, but now it doesn't, so I have to look else where. It was totally worth the money when it was working as it did.

Editing this review from 5 stars down to 2 stars. Used to have a great function that allowed you to enjoy listening to any book as an audio book. For a reasonable monthly price it had great audio reading quality. But now you have to pay double. 15 freaking dollars or else they're gonna pause your audio every few pages with a "sleep timer" no way to get rid of the timer unless you pay a ridiculous amount. Canceling the sub I did have with this app.

I really love this e-reader. I read things in many languages, including Russian and Chinese, and I can look things up with ease, given the dictionary, share, and Google translate options. I also enjoy being able to use it easily with the TTS on my phone or tablet, to have the text read to me in the various languages as well.

I like the app, ans its functions. May need some improvement in the search, but I do like it. The only reason I give such a low rating is that it provides many ads, which requires the internet. However, when I go to the "store", it says it needs a connection, or that a connection is required, which it obviously has one since there are too many ads. Also, with text to speech, the book will continue to be read despite force shutting the app.

After some time using this app, w/ just a few hiccups I thought this app was great. I have been able to see more of its flaws. It logs me out & books just continue to disappear that I know I had. I've made collections & added books to them yet they are showing up empty. It logs me out randomly after uploading books, logged in & they're gone now! Definitely buggy. Sadly, I've lost tons of books relying on this one over the other ones. Find another eReader app. This one needs a lot of work.

Really excellent app for eBooks! However the voiceover option is somewhat clunky, and can only target whole paragraphs. Meaning, if you accidentally hit a wrong button or missed a few sentences, you have to start the voiceover from the beginning of the paragraph. Other than that, this is the best eBook reader app I have used so far!

Well I thought I found a good one, so good got the paid version. But with all things too good, I hit a road block. I cannot reset my password and do not remember the system generated one. I searched my Gmail but nothing. Tried the "Forgot Password" link, got an "Unknown Error". So looks like I'm back on the hunt for a text to voice application.

Edit* Please fix the english male voices!! Voices aren't working. App is great for different formats of books. It's the only one that will play most of them. I mostly use the audio. There is a decent amount of voices but many don't work. I also have a huge problem with the app shutting down the audio at random. I can't find a reason or solution for it. I would switch if I can find another app. I use it for work and am not allowed to get my phone out to fix the issue.

Ads only used to pop up occasionally when you'd close out the app and sometimes along the bottom of the app. But now there are intrusive ads that pop up while you're turning the page in your book, filling the whole screen. What a laughably bad idea. Why piss off your users like that when they're the ones you depend on for $ from those ads? Companies get gredy at the expense of the end user and always suffer monetarily as a result. Needless to say I'm uninstalling.

Installed this app the other day and tried importing my docs. It imported. But now I can't open the app because it keeps crashing. It's converted my music into docs so I can't play it using the music apps. What is left anyway after a major delete. And apparently all my books have disappeared as well - at least a thousand copies. I wish I could access the app to see how to reverse this damage. Too sad for words. 😔 I've provided all the details in this review.

This hasdone wonders for me during my master's degree program. I'm so much enjoying it that I think I'll keep using it to continue enriching my knowledge even after I graduate. MUCH better than talk radio–which is mostly ads and commercials! Sometimes some of my files haven't uploaded quite properly. Most do just fine though. It would be cool if I could highlight files in the same app as I listen to them in.

It does the job. But it has glitches that make it annoying. I have a pdf with lots of "bullet points" indicated by a diamond shaped bullet. It actually calls out "diamond point" with each symbol. I'm surprised it doesn't call out every comma and period. It also says "use the arrow keys to turn the page" at EVERY SINGLE PAGE. It's getting old really fast. And the controls are difficult to use. sometimes they disappear. and there's no way to bring them back up without turning off the scree

I have downloaded many many readers. This one has been more than excellent as compared to others. The integration with text to speech engines is seamless. I drive a lot, and this makes it easier to read my documents, no matter what the format is. 5 star rating without hesitation (and I don't review apps as much). This app should not be free, but is. Love it.
