ESPN

This used to be a great app, now ruined by espn greed and the recent updates. Any good tennis matches now require an "ultimate" subscription. The matches dont populate for replay until hours after they're over and i get an error message when trying to play them. Just got off the line with tech support (had to call because the contact us option is broken) who said they're working on the known issue with the error messages. All for the low, low price of 35 dollars a month!

nothing but ads for highlights- possibly the worst I've ever seen outside of the newer version of Words With Friends. app loads very slowly on multiple devices, even after clearing cache/reinstalling. Sometimes it's so bad I have to give up and use my computer. Notifications usually work, but not always. ESPN became such a miserable company that I can't recommend using any of their products. They're bad for the overall health of professional sports.

app isn't working. it takes forever to load. as in I've been waiting for nearly 5 min. this isn't an isolated incident. for the last 3 days it takes forever, and sometimes won't load at all. the app is updated, my phone is updated, and I've been on two different wifi's. none of my other apps are having issues. only ESPN. so fix it

This app USED to be my go to sports app for info, stories, or whatever I need in the sports world, and yes, I pay for the service. If you asked me 2 years ago, I would have said 5 stars, hands down, no questions asked. But now, not one of the stories will load, and I get the spinning wheel of death. I can only see the schedules and the stupid videos, that I could do without. Do you think you could fix the problem, the app is all about the articles which are unattainable now.

1 star because i can't give 0. Its like they are trying to piss off their paying customers. Can't remember where you left off when watching a game on demand, kicking you back to homescreen if you use a different application for 1 second, no picture in picture, having a rewatch the opening ad every time. Not showing the time when fast forwarding to find your lost spot. They can't do anything right. its shocking

Single worst app I've ever experienced. It works MAYBE 3% of the time. I have to constantly log in and log out of my account to get it to register that I have "access". Tonight, no matter what I do, or what game I try to watch, I get the "get access" notification and then "something went wrong". This app must have been programmed by lobotomzed chimps. I'm officially done. Canceling my subscription. I'll find other ways to watch the content.

This is the worst app, EVER! If you like watching ads, this is for you. If you're a sports fan.. find it anywhere else. ESPN ..SMH. You're killing yourself. This is a year or more later. SAME thing. Started watching a 2 minute clip..had to watch a 30 second ad. I missed the first 15 seconds of the clip bc things going on when the clip FINALLY started. I simply rewound the clip and guess what.. 30 second ad again simply because I backed the clip up. WORST. APP. EVER!!

There's too many ads and it's hard to watch things. Why do we have to look at multiple ads in order to watch a short video if we already paid for a premium subscription? I'm essentially paying you twice for one thing. The videos won't even play in the background. I already started using a different program for sports articles. You lost the UFC. Major sports are diversifying to other broadcasting companies. It's not looking good for ESPN.

we got the ESPN+ package, and none of the MLB games are on it, the games I want to see aren't on it either. Seems like you can reliably get replays and documentaries though. I genuinely feel scammed. This is not what we paid for, we haven't gotten any more use out of it other than browsing and wondering where some major live sports are in the app. A waste of time and money. Edit: This is our 3rd day and only Sunday NFL Countdown and Fantasy Football is available when games are being played now.

the app "buffers" or freezes entirely almost every 30-60 seconds. has since we downloaded it a month ago. bought for WWE PLE's since the switch and this is the only streaming app I have that straight up doesn't work. for $30 a month I expect better. Every other streaming app does fine. do better! EDIT: seems to work if I play on my phone and cast to TV. only having issues with the TV app on 4 different TVs in the house. 3 WiFi and 1 Ethernet.

Streaming is very touchy. Video quality may suddenly get very bad and require closing and restarting app. Videos may stop mid stream and close without prompt. You can also forget about fast forwarding or rewinding, a person might as well just start it all over if you miss something. Brand new phone, computer, TV, 5G connection, WIFI, wired connection, doesn't matter. Video streaming quality is sub-par at best.

This has turned into the most unreliable app ever. I can never watch a game through to the finish. I'm ALWAYS getting an "Unable to play video" message (with or without VPN turned on), the app will freeze during commercials, and I must restart my experience every time. I've noticed these consistent failures with iPad but less so with Android devices. Is anyone else having this issue?

Since the update, it is a complete disaster. Any time you change games, the new one won't load, nor will the one you left anymore. Chromecast is completely broken. Even if a game will play on the device, if you try to cast it you'll be met with a screen that says "This event will start soon" no matter how long that game has been going. Completely unusable.

What's the point of push notifications that don't actually open the story they're pushing when you click on them? Then, when you open the app to try to find the story, half the time it doesn't open there either. If you finally get a video to play correctly, you have to kill the app completely to stop the sound from the next video to constantly play. It's been years. Fix the basic functions of your garbage app. P.S., stop with the forced UFC & WWE notifications.

I am so angry, with the new ad system this damn app keeps leaving me minutes behind the live action of the game. I am missing whole plays!!! This is so absurd when the previous app worked just fine before the update. Every time the ads run, it doesn't switch back to the game in time and I have to manually figure out what I missed and where the live stream is. Fix this!!!!!!

Although it can be good for keeping up with teams, the rest of the ESPN app is absolutely atrocious. It is poorly optimized and the streams are buggy, if not completely unwatchable, even on a gigabit connection. On top of that, Disney is trying to ruin the search feature and replace it with AI garbage, making it almost impossible to search for team profiles or players in the app. Thankfully it is in beta and you can opt out of it, for now. These are just some of the issues present.

I don't normally rate apps but this app has become garbage!! difficulty casting, when I finally get it to case it will cast something totally different. I get multiple alerts about the SAME "breaking" news. 9 times out of 10 I'll get "this isnt part of your channel package" when wanting to trying to watch something live. I just need retry 10 times to finally get it to load. I dont want to hear "try restarting your phone" or "clear chache" on the app. all has been done. only issue is with ESPN

ESPN doesn't understand the concept of "Mobile app" #1 Watching live TV is a hassle. You can't easily just click the channel you want to watch or easily reach airing shows. #2 you have to keep the app open and screen on, I prefer to listen to videos without worrying about accidental screen taps while driving. #3 Picture in picture. This is a phone app! let me use my phone and also watch ESPN. Now you have a paid Service so you need to make the app function like one

I have done pretty much all of the streaming services for sports. I really don't like this app. You should be able to minimize the screen on your phone so that you can check other things on your phone while still keeping the game going, but if you try to minimize on this app it just closes it. Also, I've had to re-log into the app several times to watch games because it wants me to log in with my cable or satellite providers which I don't have.

There's about a one in three chance the app actually opens when I want. There's about a 50% chance of clicking on a notification and getting routed just to the main page instead of the article. While we're at it, I absolutely despise watching a 30 second ad for a 10 second highlight. God I miss real SportsCenter.
