When it works, it's fine. When it doesn't, it's maddening! There are known issues (complaints on forums like Reddit) with users not being able to complete registrations on free events (it will say "Payment Declined" when payments aren't necessary). Lots of bugs (across all platforms and browsers!). Horrible and INEXCUSABLE for a company whose annual revenue in 2024 was approximately $325.1 million (USD). Fix the bugs and test it for quality assurance after major upgrades.
The app notifications are just click bait now. Clicking the notification OR clicking on an event link in your email, both take you to the OUR TOP PICKS FOR YOU page. If you are going to force links to open in the app, it should open to the link, not some forced Top Picks list. MY top pick is the item I clicked on on the first place. I also shouldn't have to opt out of eventbrite emails every. single. time I sign up for something.
It used to work well. Its a great app when it does work. But right now I cant search events. I get notifications and click on them but they dont show when the app opens. The discover (home) page is blank. I've been waiting for some type of update for a while to fix the problem but there have been none.. For years Eventbrite was amazing but dont know what has happened recently
The search function works horribly for me. I will type certain things in and it spends 20 minutes loading. Aside from that, it works okay- but gets clogged up by too many online classes and speed dating events unless you restrict to a city. Also impossible to search nearby locations all at one time, or to search for certain types of event across locations. Finally, I can't seem to search for a specific organizer if there are no upcoming events for them or they are outside of my city.
when changing the font size on your phone and returning to the app, the app goes back to the home page and you lose your progress for filled out fields, and if you were in the middle of buying tickets, it still thinks you're in that process and you'll have to wait for the countdown timer in the background that's holding those seats while you would normally be able to continue filling out the fields, but it doesn't realize it already kicked you out.
Idk how this app has almost 5 stars! I've used Eventbrite for like 8 years now (since moving to NYC) to find comedy shows and such, and the event selection and price variety is great! That being said, the app just crashes out of nowhere and won't show anything. I've had to delete and reinstall the app like 10 times now just to get things to load. It is an app I've used dozens of times to find lesser known things around the city, but it's wild how things just won't load half the time!
Update- 4.5 stars is due to bots for sure. The app wont load my tickets while on my home wifi, but I'm supposed to trust that it'll load while I'm at the venue? I also don't want to see the animation each time I open the app, it's unnecessary and a waste of time. The app doesn't have dark mode, you aren't able to turn off auto rotate, and the "filter" will still show you events outside of the filter parameters. All of these are basic features that every other app manages to have.
Decent enough event app, with tickets easy to access once secured. However, for me, be it app or website the experience is hampered by the poorly-executed search function, which consistently doesn't even recognize a letter-for-letter match for an event title or org name--and if you're just in the ballpark, forget about it. You're better off just browsing the longlist...
I had previously rated Eventbrite with 5 stars, but, since they insisted that I provide a review (again), I'm reducing to 3 stars for the following reasons: The last few times I've tried to use it on my phone the process to register for an event was ridiculous. As you're completing the form it repeatedly covers up mandatory fields so that they're not visible, then refuses to submit your order because it's "incomplete"... Then it times out. Infuriating!
Tickets not showing up at all. Had to repurchase tickets to attend an event. Have an event in May. Tickets not showing up, logged in 100 different times, still not showing up. Logged in every different way possible, verified email, added password, tickets still not showing up. Customer support is terrible. They pretty much told me they can't help me. It's their app and they have no idea how to find my tickets. Also never received confirmation emails on my ticket purchases.
4/28/25 Suggestion: If you could make it so when I register for a ticket I can get back to where I was in the search instead of starting over....also the update has removed the feature to add to calendar prior to registering. I need to be able to add to calendar. Fix please. I like the app, but it has been freezing everytime i open it. Even after I close it, it does the same thing. I may just have to delete and reinstall.
Incredibly tedious if you're just looking for something to do. Cannot search by radius, or for the upcoming week or month (it shows you a calendar week/month including past events). Cannot search by keyword or venue. It has it's own categories but the differences between them are hazy and you can only select one at a time. Does not remember settings (Sort by, for ex.) But. if you put an exact date it's less annoying. Needs a ton of work!
Search results with infinite scrolling has really odd behavior. When you come to the end of the list, it kicks off a call to fetch more results so that you don't have to page through. However, after data is pulled you always end up on the top of the list. It doesn't keep track of where you were and always forces you to start over. Same is there case with selections. Select anything tho register and once you get back, it will make you start from top. Looks like search never went through UX tests.
Pretty handy overall. When filling out registration forms, if it doesn't like the info you've entered, it just says to fill out the highlighted sections but doesn't actually highlight anything, so you have to guess what it wants you to do. The timer for completing your ticket purchase resets if you open anything else on your phone or if your phone goes to a screensaver, which means you'll have to re-enter all your info when you leave for a minute to find your credit card. Otherwise it's fine.
This app was good when I first downloaded it but I have been having issues with the registration button. I keep getting a blank page. I have reached out to support without success. Because of how slow they were getting back to me, the event organizer had to manually register me. There are 2 more events I would like to go to but cannot register for. Anyone know of another platform like this for me to recommend to organizers? UPDATE: No change. New event. Same problem. Just use the web version.
I don't understand why sometimes this app works and sometimes not. I tried to look at a specific event, and it wouldn't let me. After several attempts with different events failing, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and now I can't even log in. It just says "difficulty connecting to the server. Check your connection or try again later." There is nothing wrong with my connection, it's the stupid app!
Updated five years later. I added a star because they fixed some of the issues. However, the search feature is absolutely atrocious. I can't find events by name. Geolocation is hard to turn off/update. Search works even worse if you're trying to find an event outside of the area where you are. The app has limited uses. For example, I cannot find an event that I already have tickets to. If I have tickets to the event in my mobile Eventbrite why wont eventbrite pull it up?

July2025: I enjoy the App for what it's meant for, in general. However, I don't like how it requires putting in my phone # to synch my contacts in order to find/follow friends. if a friend shares an event link and Eventbrite App prompts me to follow her, I should just be able to w/o the synching. Plus, why can't I find someone by entering their number?! So ultimately, my friends and I simply send links via text, and it'll stay that way. P.S. - the filters dont always filter properly.
This app has an awful user interface. I searches for events in my area, clicked on one and confirmed it was just up the street. Clicked on the next one down and it looked interesting/was almost sold out. So I bought a ticket. Turns out it was halfway across the country in a town of the same name. As a software developer myself this is a complete failure on the backend. They are not properly searching/filtering results, instead just going by the region name it seems.
I bought one set of tickets off this app. One. They were fake and I couldn't find any help on the app for a claim. Luckily paypal stopped the purchase from going through so I didn't lose anything, but I almost missed my show. I really expect more from a ticket platform. Getting ready for a show and organizing plans is stressful enough. The last thing I want to worry about is whether the tickets are real or not.
