Fable: Books & TV

Good app for joining clubs & seeing what friends are reading. The biggest issue being there are 2 versions of almost every book, so if I mark one as read the other stays unmarked. I also noticed when I wanted to see how many books I read by one author, I couldn't. I tried searching the author name under my finished list, & it said there was nothing. This was very frustrating, there isn't even an author page like Goodreads I can go to either. I also would like an option to repost posts & quotes.

I love the idea of the app but, as an avid reader (like at least one, sometimes more, books daily) I can definitively say that their selection is sorely lacking. I ending up referring a few friends and got the book Fourth Wing for free via my credits. And that's where my reading list stops short. Literally Every Single Other Book that I've wanted is unavailable. Every single one. I'll review again at a later date but for right now, 3 stars for the concept. Romantasy readers, move on for now.

I really enjoy this app. However my biggest complaint is the search functionality and list of books to choose from. Some books have multiple versions listed while some are not cataloged at all. I listen to graphic audio books and part 2 of a book I listened to is on fable but not part 1. I don’t like importing from goodreads because as I mentioned before it can add multiple versions of one book. Catalog and search functions need to be updated.

A little frustrated right now...I've been doing fable for nearly a year, I'm religious in tracking my reading, and have started wanting to post finally...but I can't idk what's up with it but it breaks my fable every time! (I've cleared cache, data, uninstalled/reinstalled, and still breaking.) It also breaks when I try to report a bug...hence why I'm posting here. I've loved the app until now when I've had this problem. Please help!

Edit: Now I can't even add pages. I joined thru an invite and it wouldn't create a profile (kept saying it failed), later I used a different email from searching for it instead of using the link shared, and it worked, but now it won't let me join her club. The other profile that wouldn't set up is in the club tho, no matter how many times she removes it, and I have no way to access that one. Very frustrating. Contacted support but it was only a day and a half ago, so I haven't heard back yet.

Happy I switched from good reads to fable. I feel like I can track my reading much easier. Im also glad that we can break the stars into .25 increments. The book club/social aspect is a breath of fresh air. It actually feels like a community and I like that I'm connected with people that enjoy the same genres as I do. Would give 3.5 stars for the searching of books. Can't find some books, but also find multiple of the same books logged. My app crashes OFTEN and won't load. needs to be fixed.

Randomly stopped working for a day. Deleted, reinstalled, worked again for two days, now it won't load again. When it does with, sometimes book lists won't load. It's too unstable and too unreliable to be my main reading tracking app but I like the way it looks. PS- If y'all have issues because of "new users", you need to email people. No communication sucks then people ditch the app for something that will work for a day.

I wish this app was more user friendly for Android users. when trying to clear the notification history, all it does is just tell you to update in the app store, but theres absolutely no update. can't have fable plus with android either. I've had fable for almost 2 years now, & when switching phones, I had no clue this would be an issue. it's pretty upsetting.

I downloaded Fable to get away from another app. Imported my data from Goodreads, but it didn't import correctly. It combined my read books and want to read books, so I had to spend an hour+ fixing it. Now, anytime I open the app, or move to a different tab within the app, it takes minutes for it to load. 9/10 I just close the app and say forget it. 2 stars because the reading wrap- up is much cuter than Goodreads.

It's been a day and I am already disappointed with this app. For one, it doesn't let me connect my GoodReads account pulling up an error message basically saying my account doesn't exist. I double checked before trying to connect it again and no dice. Second, the app is a neverending loading screen with all features. I can't even see anything on my account page but the loading circle. I will be findin a way to delete my account and disable the app.

It's just so *much*. I'm using Fable this year alongside Goodreads and StoryGraph to see if I'll leave Goodreads and if so what I'll use instead. I'm a UX designer. This app is everything that I fundamentally despise. Its unintuitive. it takes 10,000 clicks to get anywhere and you have to hunt for the pages you're trying to get to. It's dumbfounding that people could favor this experience. First impressions are telling me I'll probably abandon Fable well before halfway through the year.

Update. The app continues to get worse. Continued issues with loading. Doesn't track pages read. Come on. It's been some time now. Time to get the search feature figured out. It's really bad. Also we need lists. That was my favorite thing about that other app and it's honestly got me considering going back. I'm constantly looking to add to my TBR but I'm finding all my reads on other platforms. At this point I'm only using this to track my goal.

INFINITELY BETTER THAN GOODREADS. Been using this for over a year and I love the community, the stats, and the individualization! I do think the app needs a little tweaking (why can't I search by author or see a full list of an author's works? why do I keep getting fifteen recommendations in a row for the same books?) but it's great!!! keep doing what you're doing!

I only just downloaded the app a few days ago after my sister raved about it. But she has an Apple and I have an Android, and apparently that means it works for her but not me. I have only been able to access any semblance of functionality once. How are users meant to track their reading streaks if the app is unusable 80% of the time? Guess it's back to the drawing board for me. I really don't want to use Goodreads, but this doesn't seem to be an option either. Frustrating.

- the goodreads import isn't very good and it's the ONLY import (owned and read are not the same thing) - there's no way to update/move/edit multiple books in a list at once (so fixing the mistakes from the import is maddening) - the social media aspect is more robust than anything actually for/about the books - the list load times are ridiculous. I personally find the app much more frustrating than useful, which is sad because the interface is nice/clean (except for the page/percent edit)

Acting up since the update. right now that app keeps giving me error messages for every operation that I request for it to complete. It can pull the reading list, update my reading streak or even pull up any of my information. This app isn't normally like this, but has been just getting worse.I don't want to delete it since I have joined some great book clubs and would really miss them. Please fix these issues!

I absolutely love this app and prefer it over goodreads, but its almost unusable. 9 times out of 10 I'll open the app and its blank, Im unable to access or add anything to my lists, I cant click my reading streak, or see posts from other users. I have to relog the app several times to get ANYTHING to load. It never loads anything, searching for a book is almost impossible, you type it in and the screen spins forever and then goes blank. Very frustrating

Love It (for book tracking), BUT... it has constant glitches. I find myself quite often messaging and "Reporting a Bug", and it's frustrating when I'm attempting to make either time sensitive or in the moment updates. Otherwise, I love how interactive it is in addition to how easy it is when tracking the books you read.

Switched from Apple to Android and my experience with Fable has dropped. I'm always having to clear data/cache (instead of deleting & reinstalling) because the app doesn't seem to want to work for me most of the time. Not loading my book club and my profile every couple of days is annoying. Loved this app on Apple but now it's just a pain to use on Android. Wish it would get fixed because I prefer this app over others.

Looking for an alternative to Goodreads but i find this app annoying and non intuitive. I still can't figure out basic functionality such as how to mark a book as completed so that it counts toward my stats. I've written reviews and marked as finished, both processes more cumbersome than they ought to be and still have encountered no way to mark the date or have it show up in my stats. ETA: I dipped into this app to see if it had improved and I can't believe it's still this cumbersome.
