Just updated the app and almost all of my stories are gone! I had 7 or 8 or so and now they're all gone but 2. It logged me out after it updated. I've logged back in, restarted the app and the phone, nothing works. The 2 stories that are left are missing information. Thankfully I didn't use this app for actually writing the stories. Just a lot of information that I don't have anymore. I do have some of the information elsewhere. Doesn't seem like a reliable app.
I absolutely loved this app. Its user friendly, well made, and is exactly what I need for organizing my thoughts and ideas before I forget them. I would love to give five stars, however, unfortunately it keeps deleting my scenes 😔 It happened once and I was willing to write it off as a glitch and move on but then it happened 2 or 3 more times. I write them down, leave the app, and next time I go in it's deleted all the words. I can't get those back now and spent a long time writing them 😔
I really like this app, but it has room for improvement. For one, when you create a series, the characters change throughout. The goals in book 1 aren't going to be the same as in book 3. But there is no way to set new goals without creating a whole new character sheet for each book. When you have 50 characters it becomes really tedious. There is also a duplication glitch. Next, the relationship chart loads sooo sloooow. I wish there were multiple chart options so you can make family trees.
Fabula is a great, simplistic app. The steps it gives you is a cool feature, but can be rather annoying. This app is mostly free, but does occasionally ask for a subscription. My primary complaint would be not being able to change the already set values under the 'charater' such as the 'conflict' and 'motivation'. It isn't a big deal, but would be nice.
So far I really like the app. The UI is easy to navigate and it seems like a great way to organize my ideas. The only feature I would love to have added is the ability to add images and text editing (like bolding, italics, etc.) to the scenes section. Otherwise, I love that you can just click and drag scenes around as you piece together what makes sense. I really like all of the details and the relationship diagram in the character section.
I've tried many of the highly-rated writer's apps on the store and honestly, this is the best one. It has a plus button for whenever an idea strikes you, is wonderfully organized into several sections such as characters and their attributes, book series and the books in said series, scenes that can be easily rearranged, and you can also add categories. As a writer, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for to keep my ideas very organized in categories writers would typically use.
I love it! This app helped motivate me to continue the novel I've been working on and off for 3 years now. I like some of the other ideas presented from other ratings, so I hope to see those soon! One thing I would like to add is having the ability to rearrange each added details for the character section (I haven't checked the other sections yet, so anything similar to this too). I really like to keep things in neccessary order. Thank you so much for your hardwork!
It would be nice, but I don't appreciate two of my main characters getting deleted while editing character relationships. Entering that they are friends with so-and-so, and "unknown error. Refresh character list, that error was the first character was deleted. I re add her, continue on, and same thing happens with the next character. I can't keep constantly re adding my characters, so I'm not going to continue using this app
I have terrible executive functioning problems and have never been able to successfully plot out a story, even though I've been trying for 35 years. This app makes use of The Snowflake Method and has finally enabled me to fully plot a story. I've even tried this method in the past, using Google Docs, but because the app breaks it down into small, separate pieces and auto-saves (it's not all lumped together in one, long document), I've been able to use it successfully and couldn't be happier.
I have tried every program in the store to be able to do what I want and this is by far the best and easiest. But I'm going to hold off on the last Star in hopes that you can earn it. What I would like to see. 1. Is a way to duplicate a story so I could use one as a template or at least access to the file and I could just copy it myself. 2. Away to import my exported file. Which could also solve #1 above. 3. I would like to be able to use multiple tags and maybe tags in other places. 4. Desktop
This app has helped me for years. I use it to store all of my data. Tons and tons of data. It was a five star app... Until it stopped letting me view my character details. Now it behaves as if I'm creating a new character not clicking into one that I already created. I emailed technical support, but this is humongously important to me so I'm putting a review too. I'm praying there's a way to fix this because I've worked so hard. Anyway, it's partially my fault for not having a backup plan.
This app truly is fantastic so far, great looking AND responsive UI and the app system is not too intrusive. My only gripes are I believe the character category system is limiting. For example, I primarily use it for super heroes and I wish I could edit the categories so I could just make an "Abilities" tab instead of having to fit it into biography or personal. With that I wish a couple quality of life additions like the ability to edit font (bold, italics, etc) were available.
So far, this app is very useful and elegant with just a couple functionality suggestions. I would love it if there was a way to rearrange items (like character appearance tags), import information from one book to another (like copying reoccurring characters in a series), and a specific section for setting/world building descriptions. Also please add dark mode! Aside those minor tweaks, this app is awesome!
This app has lots of potential, if they offered a premium version of the app without the ads and allowed even furthet customization then I'd say its the best way to write a book Update: they offered a premium version of the app. That was 2 years ago, been using it ever since. Best writing app I've ever used. Didn't know much about the snowflake method or any other writing structures until i downloaded this app. I really like this way to write stories.
Not bad, I really like the mechanics. I just wish it had more options to make it better like a sharing function to work with others. Something like this should definitely have a website and I would love to use it 24/7! Edit: I also thought of something were you can use this app on different devices to save your progress under an account.
Nice app, though I can't use the diagram for my writings as I want to add more than one connection to my characters. Like hate and respect, or friendship and envy. I need to have 2 or 3 connections for some characters so it's a bit of a down side. Also it would be nice to be able to have diagrams for groups of characters instead of all of them at once. I have a writing with a lot of characters and it's really difficult to see anything. Except for the diagrams, all good!
Been using this app for years and I love it. Though there is one problem. In the Notes part, each note has timestamps of when it was created, but the dates are missing. How will I remember what days I created the notes with just timestamps in 24-hour format? I want the dates back. In my other device, the dates were still there and that's because the app wasn't updated. The dates are very important to me, too. Please, have it fixed. Still, sending love to the creator. <3
Love this for organizing my novels. Good features and easy to use.
It lacks a "quick add" for when you write plot events (press enter to save the event AND add a new one). So I can't pour my ideas out quickly. It's also uncomfortable to reorder events, because you have to long press each time, and the animation "snaps" in a weird way. For those who like to outline your plot, a better option is Workflowy or Dynalist. Those also allow you to add a note/details to your list items, without disrupting the flow. Though it's equally uncomfortable to reorder events.
I've been using Fabula for a while now, and it's such a good app for story writing, but im now having issues with one of my books where an 'unknown error' is occurring and none of my charcaters are appearing becuase of it! It's frustrating because trying to develop my charcaters is impossible to do when I can't access what I've already done for them. Other than that, it's a good app, only lacking a world building feature which I would love to have.
