There were a few things I initially had trouble figuring out, such as the fact that you have to swipe up in the dialogue box to access the "add feed" button when adding a new rss feed. The app works really well though and is very easy to use unlike a couple of other rss apps I tried out. Notifications in particular work well which is the thing I was most looking for in the app. Nice job by the person that created it.
Brilliant RSS reader, even easier and cleaner than the old Google reader you still miss so much. I'd like to see more ways to sort feeds (e.g., by source), but that's a minor quibble when you can just limit your feed to one source at a time (a nice touch). All this and 100% free, too. (The only hurdle has nothing to do with the app itself, but in finding feeds. Why did most websites stop using RSS? Offering a feed is stupid easy -- set it and forget it.)
For reading Text Articles, this is probably the best RSS Reader on Android. My only complaint is that there's no native Podcast support, which means while you can subscribe to Podcasts you'll need to play the audio in a separate app (or download the audio from your browser). Its not a huge issue, particularly when I can use AntennaPod to listen to Podcats, but it is a minor gripe. Other than that, this is great.
Love the easy UI and compatibility with an external browser. Would rate higher if only there were more options for the "max items per feed" setting. I try my best to get my news from several sources but one of them simply outproduces articles and takes up my entire news feed. Perhaps a 10 or 20 item option? The lowest is 50 as of Feb 2024.
Only thing I don't like about it is that when you read something, it marks it read instantly & removes it from your feed altogether instead of just leaving it there read like I'd prefer. But you can save favorite posts before you close/back out of them for reference, you just have to remember to do it. Other than that, Feeder is a GREAT app with an excellent simple, intuitive UI.
Basically perfect. Simple, elegant, no nonsense. It's exactly what I wanted. If you only want to read rss on your phone get this app. You will not find a better one. If you need a desktop app, maybe look elsewhere as you would need to sync your lists manually. Doable, not fun. It fits my needs and I can't say enough positive things.
The design of the articles listings isn't my favorite (not big on any of the options, I prefer Pluma's thumbnail view, but that app is broken). Other than that, it's simple and works well. I'd like to see source favicons in the compact view as well as in article notifications. The app has improved since I used it last year. Articles used to have no scrollbar, making it hard to tell how far through you were. Now articles have a draggable scrollbar! The app's also smoother and snappier.
Does the job really well on the whole. New issue with latest version: reading an item in a multi page list resets position to first page, meaning I have to scroll down again to see further unread items. Also, please add custom sort order to feeds list, not just alphabetical - would mean no need to edit feed names to e.g. organise groups. Installed on another device; copied feeds OK, but saved items missing, and can't find how to copy them. Any way to do this?
A rss reader that works, looks good, and isn't built upon a hidden revenue agenda in that it respects your data. Kudos to the developer for putting in the free time to generously publish this incredibly useful application that's free for all. I've honestly saved hours of time avoiding media heavy & attention draining websites by using RSS feeds to setup a personalised and bloody useful information feed. It allows me better coverage of current affairs than any other site has ever come close to
love the app, its a nice alternative to Feedly but app breaking bug - when using the search feature it creates a gray bar that goes over the top of the screen. you cannot see what you searched; if you press enter and it doesnt find any articles, then you've soft locked the app on a screen you cannot back out of. I had to uninstall the app in order to fix this. using an S24 ultra. ONE OTHER THING- i cannot pull articles older than 24 hours. Please add a feature, to go further back .
Light theme would look better if the cards used a light overlay and black text. Right now the cards are using a dark theme even when the app is using light. Would also like a paged mode instead of scrolling, which would be great for e-ink devices like Boox Palma.
I started using Feeder some months ago after Feedly was deprecated. It was a 5-star smooth experience until a few weeks ago when it became unexpectedly laggy. When I refreshed the feeds manually, it took so long to load the feeds nowadays. I use the app and clear read feeds every day so it's not a case of refreshing too many feeds at a go.
Works as advertised. Mostly. First, I am glad that it's free and doesn't need an account. It's infuriating how most services require one nowadays. Second, the UI is simple and clutter free which I really love. An issue I have encountered is if reader mode is selected, it scrolls up to the top after a while. Also it'd be quite helpful if it can detect and remove duplicate articles at least from the same providers like The Verge for example. Lastly a search function for feeds would be nice to see.
Got this to replace Feedly, and it seems very good. My key reason for the change was to be able to download all the text from an article without the whole web page, which this app does perfectly. My only gripe is that in dark mode it's almost impossible to differentiate between read and unread articles in the Super Compact view. Greying the title text would definitely help.
Strong foundation for a great RSS reader. I wish there were more options to configure the article reading experience, currently the only option is to adjust the text size. Additionally it would be good to be able to swipe right when reading an article to return to the article list, as is the case with Newsfold, FocusReader and other popular RSS clients.
Just Great! Works with ATOM feeds, has all the necessary features, non-intrusive. Only one little thing: it would be great if you could have the feeds update faster. Right now the shortest selectable time interval is 15 minutes. I could see where 5 minutes or even one minute would be useful. Maybe add a little field where you can just enter the minute number?
Looking for an alternative to Feedly. Feeder shows excellent promise. Free, fast, no sign-in, device sync... 🙏🏻 Pro: - Viewing full articles in-app, where you choose the font size & don't have any distractions. Con: - Navigation is still a bit clunky (left menu settings menu default page) Wish list: - Choose the font as well as the size. - Choose the text and background colour for the day theme (I've seen this in some ebook reader apps.) - Mark as read, older than x days - Web version for PCs.
By far, the best RSS app I could find on android. It is simple to use, well organized and has everything a RSS app needs. I would only change two minor things for the app to be perfect: add the options to show thumbnails on the article cards and give the option to change the font of the text. But these were only suggestions, on the experience on the app I have no complaints.
Wow, this app is a true hidden gem! The interface is clean, the user experience is incredibly smooth, and there's no unnecessary clutter. I feel so lucky to have found it. Thank you to the developer for such a wonderful app! I just have one small feature request: would it be possible to add WebDAV sync in a future update? Being able to sync my data across devices via my own WebDAV server would make this app absolutely perfect. Overall, it's a brilliant app. Five stars well-deserved.
Great app. Full text articles work seamlessly. I wish the TTS reader menu would allow a natural skip to next article instead of automatically closing when reading of single article is done. Also, to use tts on second article and every other that follows, you have to open the article twice. If these bugs are fixed I would give it a 5 star. As a bonus feature. Would love if there are options to increase font size. I find reading big text much easier.
