Decided to give it another try. Getting rid of ads is a great reason to use RSS, but nope... Feedly puts em right back in. I was like no prob, I can buy a pro version. But nope. It's a subscription. 8 bucks a month😒 You can't even save a feed with creating an account. One assumes that's so they can track and harvest. I find myself very frustrated by being unable go find an app that just brings you the RSS without a bunch of nonsense added on. It's supposed to be simple. Really simple.
It was neat until some of the most basic features that are appealing have to be bought via a monthly subscription. I would be more likely to "contribute to the Feedly Project" at a much lower rate. This app aggregates articles...period. I can't justify paying the same subscription amount as Netflix, a platform that aggregates and creates multi-million dollar media...
It's fine. It was better before they added ads right in the feed. I'd tolerate those as a cost of a free app, but today Feedly deleted a bunch of older unread items without asking me. They just vanished. Losing something valuable like that is not acceptable to me, so I'm on the hunt to find another app. Also, they logged me out recently and it won't let me log back in. So I lost all my saved feeds!
I've been using this app for years and it keeps going downhill. I used to be able to save stories to my Pocket account, but that feature got moved behind a pay wall. Then ads started showing up in my feed as if they are actual blog articles. Now, the app has stopped opening the links to the articles themselves. I've gone through all the app settings and have had no luck. All I get to see in the app now is the first few lines and that's it. I now have to leave Feedly to read articles.
My favorite news feed -takes a little pressure off my Facebook friends because they don't have to see everything I see in the news, yet makes it easier for me to keep up with a pretty wide variety of sources. Edit to add: would appreciate it if developers could make it a little less touchy when it comes to putting items into "read later" status. Just scrolling on my phone tends to put half a dozen items into this status, and I find it annoying to have to undo that.
This new version is not working for me. I tried it for a few hours and went back to Feedly classic. That was a great decision to keep classic still available. I like being able to swipe pages left to right which does not work anymore in the new version. We should be able to choose which side photos display in magazine view.. Classic was left of the article and new version is on the right. Sorry guys... Classic is it.
Sadly, I can no longer support Feedly as a good reader app. I've put up with the bugs because it was a decent enough choice, but with the addition of ads into the app, I can no longer use this. Combine this with the flaky home screen widget, and lack of notifications for new content, and it basically invalidates any benefits I'm receiving. While I understand the need for revenue that covers costs, all I want is a minimal RSS reader. There should be no reason to have servers or other costs of running a centralized service.
The new update is terrible. My widget used to include both the headline and the source, which helped me make decisions about whether to open an article; now I just ignore everything because I'm not sure if I'm looking at news or a blog, etc., and that matters for how I prioritize my time. I also can't find how I can change how often the widget refreshes; seems like it gets stuck for a whole day, whereas I used to have it set to refresh every 30 minutes. The new interface/menu makes it incredibly difficult to find settings. There's really nothing good to say about the app now. There are probably better apps out there that you should try first unless you're really dedicated to the desktop/web version of Feedly and just want the app for some degree of convenience.
The app is good, with a usable and apparently well indexed catalog of sources. I wish there was more ability to customize theming for particular sources or areas of the app. I use the dark theme because I read in the dark before bed quite a bit. Unfortunately, many sources seem to use backgrounds that take on the theme color (looking at you, Reuters), so if I need to see a full article rather than just an abstract I have to open it in the phone browser, since I can't read dark text on a dark background.
Used to be my favorite app to use while on the NYC subway for my morning reading. Now after the latest updates, it no longer works for me. It constantly looks to refresh the feeds even when I don't have a cell signal, so after one minute of use I get an error message saying no signal. Used to be able to load up a few pages of articles when I had a signal, and those would be there until I refreshed again. The constant looking to auto refresh now has me looking for a replacement app.
Log in with Feedly no longer works. It's an endless loop of entering your email which takes you out of the app to the webpage to enter your log in info again, then takes you back to the app where it once again asks for your email and the process just repeats. I contacted support but didn't get anywhere with them. This seems to be a common issue and I'm surprised they have no interest in fixing it.
this used to be my favorite app, but the updated version is too frustrating. I used to be able to clean my feed, skipping over what I wanted to read then go back and read the posts I skipped. Now it just marks as read everything in between automatically. And if I scroll too fast and reach the bottom, the whole feed is declared read. To skip a post I need to actively mark it as read later, then open that list instead. I've lost too many posts, so I'll stick to the computer version.
Count me as not a fan of the new update. I opened it up this morning and found all my settings had been reset to defaults, the Pocket integration was gone, controls in different places. I'm surprised I didn't have to log back in, but that might at least have given me some warning. It's like a completely new reader; maybe time to try a different one?
It's always been my favorite app. The adds now are terrible and very annoying and they don't go away. Something may be wrong on your end because the O2 Canada add never disappears from your feed. You are going to loose a lot of people. $8 a month is pretty steep. Most of your add free subscription music services aren't that much. I may consider if you had a discounted rate (like half price) if you paid for 1 year in full ($50 a year?). Or even a lower fee just to remove adds.
I've been using Feedly for years w/o any major issues. Recently the app has become more of a pain to use. Font is so small I can hardly stand to look at it. Often times news sources fail to open. Managing "favorites" is now apparently a secret. I had to go to Feedly in my browser to manage sources in my "favorites" list. Ugghhh very frustrating.
Yet another product that demands you provide personal information before you can test out their product. Uninstalled. Update: I only intend to use your app on one device. I do don't need synchronization. Even if I intended to eventually use more than one device, I wouldn't need synchronization to try out your product on a single device. I could supply my email at the point I intended to add more devices.
Share via email doesn't work after March 2017 updates. Very convenient way to follow dozens of blogs without a lot of hassle. One improvement I would like to see would be the ability to specify the number of articles which are pre-loaded. Currently, when I start the reader, I see "Loading Updates", then a few screens of articles appear. Then after swiping through a few screens of articles I see a screen that just says "Done" with a giant checkmark. I have to hit the "Mark all read" button a couple of times, and wait for more to load before I can see more articles. In many cases, I have to do this every 2-3 pages, even though there are hundreds of unread articles. I have a slow connection so this really slows down the process of skimming through a lot of unread articles.
I hate the UI redesign. All my headlines blend together without the clear separation they used to have. Even worse, headlines are truncated and I can't tell the difference between two lines anymore. This used to be a great app, but now it's nearly unusable. Edit: I use small font, text only, compact settings. I tried some others but just don't like them. I installed Feedly Classic, which brings back the familiar good UI.
I finally re-installed an older version of this app, and shut off auto-updates. I can't stress enough how much better this was before the December "upgrade." I open the app and it starts where I left off. I swipe to the left and see the text of the next article, with an image below. It all works with my muscle memory. Neither the new app or the "classic" version allow for this experience. The upgrade strategy that the developers took might become a textbook case for how to frustrate users.
Frustrating To Navigate. Hitting the back button doesn't actually take you back or close out a sub-menu. You have to do other things to do that or to get those "helpful" popups to go away. Ugh. Don't try to reinvent the navigation wheel, we use our phones a certain way, make your app fit that. But I'm just going to move on to a different agreggator.
