Posting a poor review to confirm other's reports that login for the Fifth Third app is buggy at best. I'm lucky to have access to another bank with an app that just works, but not everyone has this luxury, so they will be picking their bank based on which one has an app that works. When I am able to log in to the app, it works okay, but nothing notable. See your accounts, pay bills, transfer funds, it works if you can get logged in, but the login issue is pretty bad.
Very unreliable. Most of the time, I can't even access my accounts. The biometric system rarely works correctly, so I have to type my password in. Then, if it loads correctly, I can get to business. If doing transfers between accounts, it hardly ever goes through, and I get an error message. Sometimes, the whole system is down for hours. I've had overdraft fees in the hundreds all because I can't access my account in a timely fashion. Information doesn't load properly and can be outdated.
App could better. The app seems to forget that I have enabled the widgets mode. At least twice a week I am required to re-enable this mode if I am to use the widgets. And the search functionality is lacking as well. When using the search box, after viewing an item, the app takes you all the way back up to the top instead of where you found the item you were searching for.
worst bank ever. they rearrange deposits and credits so they can charge overdraft fees. They ignore requests you put on the account. They arbitrarily reduce your credit limit from a useful amount to $500 just for paying it off and tell you 5/3 doesn't want to be in the credit card business from their csa. Even with a credit score of 7.8 they refuse to increase your limit, but are happy to have you apply for a new account at 34.99% instead of your old long term 14%. and much more! Run!
This has been a decent enough app; although, there are a few things that I have found frustrating: constant re-login (I get that it's a security thing, but maybe we could set our own timers), the Zelle feature is a bit unintuitive, and I SO wish that it had an in-app calculator. Also, I'd give customer support a 3★, because I find it incredibly frustrating to understand most of the CSRs accents.
Updating my review: It's a convenient tool when the app is able to log in, but sometimes it takes several attempts with either biometrics or my password. I end up giving up and logging in on my laptop (so I know the username and password are correct), or go into a branch if I'm near one. I would use this app more if it worked more consistently.
Locks you out of your account if you don't update the app. I had the app for only a few days before it required updating. This is a BAD track record to start off with. I want access to MY money and bank info without having to update a freaking app every time. EDIT: App now no longer working. Will not allow logins. Mine is up-to-date but keeps responding with "That didn't work" error. Calling customer service, they can instantly fix the issue on their end. Website tells you to get the app.
I just want to add that if you punt on the app, and choose to use the website instead, on a PC it frequently fails. Either you have to stop your VPN (just when you need it most for financial transactions) or you're faced with multiple "security checks", sometimes as many as five or six. And with NordVPN, at least, it detects an improper certificate, and thereafter you can't log in whether the VPN is on or not! Customer support is always level 1, with no way to escalate.
My account is pretty new but I have been a member since last year but like many of the members here, I have been having numerous Log in Failures on this app for no reason. It actually worked better before the updates. They persuade us to download the app but it still opens in another tab & not on the app. So what good is it having the app but it doesn't work like it's supposed to and lock us out of our own account(s)?? 🤔 Help us members out please!!
By far the worst banking app I've ever encountered. I'm seriously taking my accounts to a different bank because of this. Doesn't matter which day or time of day, 99.9% of the time it takes 5-7 attempts to log in, with either the password or biometrics. It constantly says " uh oh l, that didn't go as planned". No VPNs, not on wifi, it's literally every time I use it. Fix it or I'm out.
The app is mostly ok. What I currently need is a way to mark all notices as read. I don't like seeing the red numbers on my screen. Edit 1: Wish the search was better. It just plain doesn't work. I'm looking for a specific amount, type in the amount, no go. Looking for a specific company, type that, nope. Edit 2: I need a rolling total on the app. It's in the site why not the app also? Nothing really gets changed in the app. Just a basic app.
I'm not sure how a brand new account gets locked for invalid information, even if the person's Identity isn't from the state. I've provided well enough information to continue on legally and create an account but somehow 5 days after I open an account, here comes the invalid or error screen consistently. Not sure if this is a computing, Office, or programing issue. However the experience of setting up an account was lovely but actually having the account is not appeasing as it once was.
I have no idea what bug has happened to corrupt the app or change that was made for the update, but the app continually does not recognize my user name or password although it is correct when I log into 53 bank online. Please figure it out.... I'm getting sick of going on the web to log in. Also is this a security issue??? I've never had an issue before.....
Since the latest update it is very glitchy. I used to think it was at least 4 star now I think it's less than one star. The 53rd advance pay feature also sucks now as you now have to use whole dollar amounts (this was never the case before) and also i get an error if i have a duplicate transfer (which was also never an issue before). They need to get their IT people to work on this and it's glitches. Biometrics is glitchy too Please put it back to how it was, or resembles what it was.
This "updated" app is AWFUL! I wish we had an option to use the old version. Half the time I can't log in, at all. When I can, it takes forever! Its hard to decipher what's what in your account. I've had more overdrafts in the last few months than I have my entire life because it is not accurate in transactions. I'm used to being able to rely on the app & this one is absolutely unreliable. Gotta go old school & keep track yourself. This isn't even worth the download.
I got my account set up, got logged into the app, and got an error message that my account info couldn't be found. I get kicked out of the app, and every time I try and log in with my login information it tells me username and password unknown. Eventually, My account is locked for too many bad attempts. I call back today. After calling back two separate times I get logged in only to find the same error message. Get kicked from the app again and my login credentials are no longer correct.
After months of failures, it finally lets me login consistently. That's the good news. But it still ignores the decimal point you enter and forces you to enter a value 100 times what you intend. Or maybe 10 times. Or maybe not. It varies. Want to make a payment of $57? You have to enter 5700 or you'll get $0.57. If you want $38.10, you can't enter 38.1, because you'll get $3.81. But if you mean $67.15, and enter 67.15, that will work correctly. No other app on the planet behaves like that.
"If your phone is on, your bank is open"? Not true. This app has become unusable and unreliable. Can't move money between accounts. Can't send money with Zelle. App closes constantly when trying to use it. This has gotten progressively worse and I was told it was a known issue when I called 3 weeks ago. Unacceptable for my banking institution to be unreliable.
Ever since the prior update, which I wish I hadn't done now, it's been terrible. One day the biometrics works and then stops, you can't search any amounts or check #s, when a check does clear you can't see details, etc, etc. I could go on and on! When you call customer service about issues they act like I am dumb and they make all kinds of excuses! DO BETTER!! it's so bad that I am thinking of switching banks!! Just did the lastest update too and the biometrics still isn't fixed!!
The previous version of the app was great. For the current version of the app they took every single thing that was great about the previous version and figured out how to make it as bad as possible. The font is way too large, every icon next to every transaction is the same and makes no sense for that transaction type. Every transaction is the same color. And if you have multiple accounts it won't even show you an overall total. Perfect example of how not to build a banking app.
