On first open, it's unclear that you can just close the guided intro without the need to login. The 'x' in the top right is too small and not clear. Also, the minimum size (5km) for watch zones is far too big. Because of the topography around me, 5km is too big, but targeted 1 or 2km watch zones are better. Even better would be polygon watch zones. As such, watch zones are useless for me & the website is far easier to deal with.
November 2025 This app updates information 10 hours after the event. this is very concerning as I had a fire near me yet this app showed nothing at the time of the fire event only sending out a notification 10 hours later. But late then. up date 16/1/2026 the notifications are still coming in 10 hours after the event. this could cost lives if people are relying on this app to keep them updated.
It would be a great app if I received notifications faster. I don't know if there is just a delay in notifications but I get a notification, open it immediately and it says "incident resolved" but according to the notification it is only an incident/fire that occurred in the last minute??? I think if anything serious did happen ie a fire, then I'm gonna die. If I survive but am injured then I'm suing your arses off for having a dodgy app that is inaccurate.
I'm getting alerts after the incident is no longer a worry. Sorry can't trust this app to give me to to date information. continuing a review. I reinstalled the app 2 years after deleting. thinking I would be getting an updated version. Just now received a notification for a fire near me 10 HOURS ago. not fit for purpose
Scale bar needed (approximated to a sensible number as magnification changes)!!! Simplified version of the Hazards Australia app, e.g. without watch zones, but colouring of icons more clear for warning type (advice, emergency warning etc.). Only one click to receive all the fire details, which is inconsistent with Hazards Australia. What they should both do is: after the 1st icon click, show you fire status (controlled or not) and fire size in a small pop-up, and then the rest after 2nd click.
Not great for people in Qld. I receive notifications, but when I click to view I get an "Incident resolved" box. Every time. I'll now use QFES website, as it is at least current. Particularly important given the most recent "incident resolved" notification i received today related to an Emergency Warning - leave now notification in my local area. I thought I'd better check - it's not resolved! Assuming it's better for NSW residents, but disappointing it doesn't work for us too. Important app!
What is the point of getting notifications of a fire in my watchzone if it says resolved as soon as you click on it.... iv now had 3 notifications for the same spot near me in the last 30 minutes but now it's actually showing on the map as active even though all notifications say resolved and it wasn't showing after the first two notifications.
Great app overall but the watch zone notifications need work. Every time it says there is a fire nearby, when you open it - there's nothing there and advises incident resolved straight away. The map also has nothing so you can't actually "watch" for fires.
I love the idea of this app. But my watchzone keeps getting removed? Think it needs a bit of tweaking so we get notifications faster too. Appreciate that I can see where established fires are. I hope this gets the love it needs cos this could be a really powerful app for those that don't have local news tv.
The app isn't up to date, nor is it accurate. No red icons at all but we know mass evacuations and a state of emergency have been called. Some areas show no fire when whole towns have been evacuated. No way to set or search specific locations. Wouldn't want to rely on this app.
The pop notification for a fire incident comes to phone and when you open it says "The incident is no longer active". This means pop up notifications are not at all working as they should be. When an incident emerges, at that point public should get alert rather than once incident is resolved. Hope this can be made better.
This app is dangerous. Got a notification about a fire in my area 6 hours ago. Upon clicking on notification a message popped up saying incident has been resolved, no fire icon was in my watch area. Checked 10 mins later, still no fire icon. 6 hours later i walk outside and smell smoke, check app, see that the fire i got a notification about now has an icon and has had for 5 hours, is less than 20km away and wind is blowing hard towards my house. Fix the glitches, they could kill someone.
Does it's job, but you should probably change the icon picture so it doesn't look so much like the Tinder one. People just want to check out fires close by, not be accused of cheating.
another app that's a waste of time downloading. very rarely get updates or notifications of current incidents happening in my location
Same issues that it seems everyone else is having. Get notified of an incident near me but when I open it, it says updated 10 hours ago and incident resolved. If that is the case, why am I being notified? Shame because it's an excellent concept, just extremely poorly executed.
A good and useful app, could be better. There's two issues. First? it struggles with slow internet/low signal areas. Second? It needs to show "planned hazard reduction burns" and listing the forest by name(if within one). In regards the second, it could be listed on the map as "PHRB", for "Planned Hazzard Reduction Burn" or "UHRB" for "Upcomig Hazzard Reduction Burn", with an appropriate advisory icon. As a visitor to forests, it's frustrating that planned burns arent shown until it occurs
An invaluable resource. Please consider allowing users to set a default location by entering a postcode, rather than relying on device location. Like many, I use the app from overseas to track fires that impact family back home.
This app used to work perfectly but stopped showing any fire locations on the map several months ago. It lists where fires are but I'm unfamiliar with virtually all locations. Having fires shown on a map was MUCH better. What happened and why? When will this get fixed??
The map gets stuck and I have to kill the app if I open it from an incident notification then go to map. It just looks blurry and never stops trying to load. Also Vic fires only show warning zones not the burnt areas like for NSW, need to jump to emergency.vic.gov.au to see the areas.
Has such valuable potential for residents but the notifications are always 10 hours ago. So this app is NOT timely at all. try and fix this guys and this app would be awesome and have the potential to save lives
