I started using this app initially for the Skycard's game that is also by Flightradar24 to look at where different aircraft were but I've come to use it just about whenever I'm bored and find it fascinating! Especially with me, my family, and friends traveling as much as we all do, it's cool to see when planes are consistently late, on time, or even early. I would recommend this app for it's free version but I will admit that I got the Gold plan for $40 a year.
I would say this is a good app to find flights, it can show planes nearby, and you can look up and see, but it has a few issues. For example, using the AR feature, it only works best when the plane is close, because the arrow is always pointing at the wrong place, and the box is covering the plane on camera. And in the feature, it has a tiny map with a slide to have the radar look farther for planes, but they always show the plane facing the wrong way, so I think it's going my way, but it isn't.
This is a cool app with enough free features to keep you watching flights for hours. Haven't had any major problems. Not glitchy. Some ads but what do you expect these days. Edit: I have dropped two stars because while watching a flight long enough, an ad will automatically exit the app and redirect to your web browser. That's not acceptable and I will be deleting this app if that continues.
I had the old app which I was very happy with and suddenly I was apparently paying for a monthly gold subscription without me accepting such a thing. Using the free version nowadays and the intrusive ads are extremely annoying, they'll open up their own page and then you have to restart Flightradar to be able to use it again.
I checked my email, I also paid for the premium version of this app in Feb 2017. I'm also going to delete the app right before the 90 day free trial ends. I will not be bombarded with ads and I won't pay $10 a year for an app that I use less than 5 minutes a month. I have no interest in you asking me to email you, so you can tell me how the old app was from 2010 and new technologies had to be employed. Tech gets cheaper as years go by, not more expensive by 20 times or more. Do whats right!
If you buy the top version there are lots more things available. But the free version let's me identify any airplane that is on active radar. It also allows me to track the flight if I care to. It gives me the N number, type of craft, altitude, ground speed, and usually point of origination. If you have a friend going on a commercial flight and they give you the flight number, you can track the flight. Fun and handy app.
I don't trust this developer. It left users of the previous PURCHASED version out in the cold with only an offer of an extended free trial. NO, I purchased this app with a one-time fee and I do not understand why they cannot honor these purchasers with a basic, ad-free experience. Install at your own risk and subscribe knowing that at anytime after you have paid, they will change the terms again and it's either pay up or get out. I don't see much more new in this version of the app than I did in the old. If you paid for the old and end up installing this one, you'll see pretty much the same thing with the exception of a huge ad at the top until you subscribe.
Stopped working completely. I loved this app and was going to purchase a sub or whatever a year ago, but then it stopped working. Updates didn't help, not better on a different phone. No point in paying for an app that doesn't work. update: adverts are intrusive and their X doesn't work, so there's no point in viewing them because you can't close them. Do better than the garbate scam adverts.
Flight Radar 24 service is getting worse and worse. If it is not persistent outages it is other issues. I love this app but this time they went too far. I have an active paid subscription for the Gold plan. Shorty after the monthly charge was taken out of my account they switched me back to basic. So, they took my money and ran basically. I paid for the service and I am not recieving what I paid for. I emailed customer service, they told me my account has expired but yet it shows paid for.
Love that I can see what's flying over, with the exception of most military aircraft (which is understandable). Some info is occasionally missing from a few flights, a few have incorrect photos of the model of aircraft, but most have good info. I enjoy getting Featured Flight notifications - I was able to watch the last flight of Quantas 747 as it drew it's logo over the skies of Australia. I also like that I can get notified when my favourite birds are up, either by model or tail number.
Works again after map hotfix but really, what's the point? As a purchaser of the former pro version, I, like all the others, have been abandoned by the developer when they upgraded the app to require a paid subscription. Now, to keep the benefits we had as an original purchaser, they want us to pay again. And again, and again, etc, etc, etc. No thanks!
I'll keep my old paid version. It does the job. Too many nags to update, too many ads. To get all the features is too expensive and it's an annual fee on top of that. Upgraded version is not for the causal user. Also, the squawk feature won't turn off even if unchecked. Annoying. Had some trouble trying to track back to back flights. It only kept the first flight active in the search box and would not load the second flight even after it was airborne until about an hour into its flight. The old version worked fine. The rest of the app works great and is enjoyable. But not for the price.
Great app. Fast, clear, easy to use, and yes, the free version is quite usable, with small, unobtrusive ads. But if you really enjoy planespotting (and want to thank the devs), it's worth it to buy the full package of features (the weather options alone might even take the place of your current weather app). I paid for the full version, and I don't even fly. Terrified of flying, in fact. Hate it. But I really enjoy planespotting, and wouldn't be without Flightradar24.
Best free tracker I've ever used! Definitely the most accurate one, and being able to watch the icons taxiing, taking off, and landing is really cool. My only issue is that it seems to not be very precise on the takeoff and landing areas. The icons will freeze at the beginning of takeoff, overshoot the runway every landing, and the altitude indicator will continue to read 800ft after landing. Still the best free app.
I have used both free and paid versions of this app. In the free version, ads are not excessive, which I appreciate. There are different paid version tiers, and I settled on Silver for the flight data I like to see. $10 / year is a great price for what you get for this tier. It's also intuitive to use at a surface level, and there's more to explore if you want to dive deeper. All in all, excellent app!
I do car service from multiple airports. This app has improved to become the best choice for me. I can track specific flights, or see all the incoming traffic to a specific airport. The paid version is well worth the extra information, if you fly more than a couple times a year. The $10 a year subscription gives me all I need, for less than a buck a month. As I track a flight, the location on the map is very accurate. Then it tells me what gate my customers are deplaning at. Great app!
Tried the 1 week free trial, glad I didn't have to pay for it beforehand. Needed Filters & Alerts but couldn't get Alerts to work properly the whole week. The app should send an Alert when your chosen plane enters the map area selected. This would work on 1 of every 10 planes. The rest were on the ground when I got an alert even though I didn't adjust altitude settings to zero (or set them at all). Fix this and I'll be happy to pay your yearly fee.
I've been using FlightRadar24 for almost a decade. But after latest update, app is no longer what it used to be. Info that was previously freely accesible, now is only available through fee subscription. Also, now you are required to log in every simple time you want to look info up. Tracking a single flight for either take-off or arrival time takes way too many steps and has gotten cumbersome. You can get the same info using other apps such as Flight Aware.
So I paid for your "old" app's Pro version. Not a SUBSCRIPTION. Because of some notification issues (which I don't use) you're pushing me to download the "new" app (which I did), offering 3 free months of a subscription (which I don't want), and STILL only allow me to choose one label for flights!! In the version I paid for, I could choose up to 4 labels (I chose 3.) Leaves a bad aftertaste when a company, after taking your money, decides it will try to squeeze you for more. I don't like it.
I am using the free version of this app to keep an eye on aircraft fighting wildfires in the area, and it works great for this. Sometimes the aircraft drops off view, but that's technology and probably terrain issues. My only regret, which is unavoidable, is that it requires data, so if i'm hiking in an area without service, there is no connection and aircraft can't be tracked. But that's not the fault of the app at all.
