Great app if you don't mind ads literally covering up the content you're trying to read! And it keeps getting worse! The ads are placed right in the way of the articles! When you try to x out of the ad, most of the time it opens the ad content anyway. I understand the need but they're way more intrusive than need be! Please stop! The ads have gone from bad to unbelievably worse! The response is "the ads are out of our control".... Well someone should control it because this app is now unusable!
A semi decent news digest tool. biggest pain in using it is when you accidentally hit the submit button. There isn't any confirmation prompt and you can't edit comments. How difficult is it to make a comment system that's user friendly? it also has a bad habit of slowing down and/or freezing randomly, forcing me to kill the app and restart it. Lastly, you can't mute specific news sources that you don't want on your feed. It's pretty annoying.
Excellent app if you enjoy ads covering most of the screen, trackers galore, more ads and a little news here and there if you can get to it without accidentally tapping on one of the ads. Flipboard used to be great but now it's more frustrating than anything else. I do like the comment sections for each article but as for its primary purpose, it's a mess.
I have disliked this app since 2013, but I've tried it on and off for years since i can't uninstall it. It never gets better. Navigation is counterintuitive, and the widget is frequently frozen or several weeks outdated. I get about one "breaking news" notification every few months. Time to disable again. Update: Now i can uninstall!
Was once a great news app, but has now become infested with ads and a mother load of 3rd party trackers. The number of trackers in this app is insane. 1500 attempts in one day! Wow! They are selling your data to everyone. Update: Massive trackers in this app, they are mining your information constantly. Remember you are the product and they know everything about you and your phone. Using reader mode has nothing to do with the data mining they are doing
Been on all my phones since my first smartphone. Used heavily daily for all that time until recently, when it became filled with nothing but ads, opinion, and propaganda. The comment section is among the nastiest I have ever seen. The amount of drivel one must sift through to find even one NEWS item is utterly unacceptable. Just un-installed and will find something else. If you're considering trying out this once useful app, save yourself some time and look elsewhere.
Frustration! Articles are broken down in tiny segments over multiple pages...and you have to wade through tons of ads to find each "Next" to click on. And then if you get side tracked for very long or your computer flickers u have to start all over from the beginning. The articles, while they may contain useful/interesting content, aren't worth wading through so much. Too often get kicked off or I give up before reaching the end or even to the essence of the article (re the titles"). :(
The ad experience is awful. For me, it's TEMU. For others, it's Amazon. Touch anywhere on the screen to move forward and it redirects you to the TEMU site. Back out, and it does it again. It does it constantly throughout. I read that months ago Flip board was aware of it, but it seems pretty clear that it is intentional to get clicks. I have seen no fix.
Overwhelmed by ads! After more than a decade of using Flipboard as my go-to news app I'm going to switch to another. It's really gone downhill badly in recent months, the ads have been overwhelming - far too many, and poor quality. Now there are dodgy Amazon ads which open the Amazon app just when you swipe past them. Others have had the same issue. Literally can't use Flipboard's core functionality (swiping) without it switching to Amazon. It's infuriating. You've lost another user.
It was excellent but now degraded to very annoying due to every flip past the dozens of amazon ads caused a click with intent, spawning amazon to launch... Probably as a result of the way amazon have designed the ad. Flipboard you need to sort this out then I will consider increasing stars again. It had been made unusable and frustrating. Already looking for an alternative. update.... not sure why it is taking so long to fix, simple code change. oh, and now you are showing me ads for porn.
Your Ads methodology is gradually making Flipboard useless. Apart from the very high display frequency, lately some ads (e.g. Amazon Prime) take us out of Flipboard as soon as we touch the screen to flip to the next story AND even if we try to access the 3-dot menu to report it as irrelevant to us (so we can't access that menu). If TV ads behaved the same, it'll be like switching off the TV every time such ads are displayed, forcing users to take unnecessary actions to resume watching.
The Shein ads are absolutely horrible. everytime you put your finger at the bottom of the screen to 'flip' it will always click into the ad, everytime!!! it's the only ad that does this so it's purposely done, I've actually deleted Shein because of this as it wasted more time when I had the app because it would open that instead which wasted even more time. So yeah, that's really superb advertising tactics right there..🙄
A news app where you can customize the topics you are looking for. Problem. Ads that pop up like articles as you are scrolling but they are intrusive and in foreign language. You swipe like you would the article and even though you are not clicking it , it redirects you to the website. I've reported the ad as irrelevant since I have no clue what it is but it keeps popping up. Edit- I'm reading a lot complaints for the same reason here. Why not fix this? Not a good sign from developer.
Whatever has changed recently has certainly not made the app better. The app will intermittently close/crash while I'm viewing an article. No other program does this on my device. I have cleared the cache and other storage in an effort to fix it but it still crashes.
Too many ads covering my screen! Why give me an app to read articles when I can only read utilizing less than a third of my screen. Throw in some pop up blockers or something, since my browser built-in blockers do nothing here DELETE. I'll try again later after it's fixed. Bye 👋 As for the "Reader Mode"... not all articles seem to feature this setting
Can you folks not find legitimate ads? 95% of the ads I see are obvious scams targeting the elderly and disabled. And they keep coming back no matter how many times they're flagged. Making the ... menu hard to see to report these scams is not the correct fix. I've already reported the problem. If your staff can't tell fake web sites from legitimate ones you have no business being in the industry. These all come from mediago.io. I report them, only for them to return with new thumbnails.
After years of using this app like other reviewers, I'm ready to trash it. This app was my go-to for news, but while I don't like many of the changes Flipboard has made, they weren't enough to stop me using it. However, Amazon's "Carpe Deals Every Day" ads have changed this. They are intrusive and persistent, opening automatically whenever you swipe past them, making them impossible to ignore. I hoped this would be fixed in an update, but it wasn't. Goodbye, Flipboard.
Using it for many years. Last year, a bug appeared that is still not fixed (I informed them about it several times) — when doing a "Flip into magazine" on Android, all my magazine covers disappear. They are empty. Only the titles are left. Uninstalling, resetting data, clearing the cache, etc., didn't help. And it seems the developers don't care. Samsung Galaxy environment (on tablet Tab S4 and on the S24 Ultra phone).
Too may ads and subscription requirements. Clicking articles to read is almost impossible lately. Can only read the splash text in a lot of cases. In the past week (Jan 2026) I now get a full screen Chinese ad every few flips. when I swipe up it goes into the ad several times before I can get it to actually go to the next article. So frustrating and the ad showing up to a non Chinese user is kind of odd. Very poor ad management.
Nice app (excellent if you like nothing but ads) like others but mine is TEMU goes straight to this in about 10 second I think all you guys think about is ads must be paying you guys loads just for ads shame, just think about the readers or you may get a bad name looks a good app if working good.
