mostly okay, but in the past two days it suddenly stopped opening. once i did manage to open it i'm unable to sign in. the validation code isn't being sent to my email and there are no alternatives. it seems others may have the same problem. it sucks because there were a few things I wanted to grab tonight. before this development, it worked fairly well. love stopping food waste.

Love the app and the idea of less food waste but hate that everything is instantly frozen. Bakery items like pastries that were already frozen prior to baking just fall apart and some of the meat easily gets freezer burnt because you don't have the opportunity to put it in appropriate packaging at home. I wish it was more like the other app I use for less food waste in that regard. I also wish the pictures were true and not the ad pics because you have to guess if it's particular cut of meat

The service is great. The app... not so much. It won't open, so I have to uninstall, reinstall, & re-login everytime I want to even just browse the offerings. I can't recall which update started this nonsense, but it's really frustrating & makes me not want to bother anymore.

Experience has been excellent! I joined barely 1 month ago and used the program maybe 5 times at 3 stores. Always, the order was accurately packed, the food fully frozen, and I have the option when I'd like it ready for pickup. It's always ready, and walked out to me immediately when I arrive. Best of all are the prices, 50% off. I'm filling my freezer with top cuts of AAA meat, roasts etc. Excellent way to not waste food.

Up until a couple years ago this was one of my favourite apps ever. But they changed the app and it's now useless. When you search for an item, the search results no longer allow you to select that item. Also, now that more people use this app it's hard to find any good deals on good food (chicken breasts, extra lean ground beef, beef bones, etc. all used to be regularly available at 60% off). Most deals now are deals on marked up junk food, overpriced meats, stale overpriced gourmet, etc.

I had this app for a while and got rid of it - recently reinstalled it and now I remember why I got rid of it. no photos of most items, inaccurate or incomplete descriptions of what's actually available -it's a complete guessing game most of the time what you'll actually get. No photo, vague description (eg: roast bone in breast homestyle???) Wasting my time here.

Update Dec 2025: I use it for certain items that I deem are a good enough deal. It's not bad. Be careful with fish though, the ones I purchased stank terribly and had to be jettisoned. A downside of Food Hero is the flat fee per transaction of $1.79. It discourages purchasing one or two items here and there. I think a % would be better. The app fails to load stores and items at busy times, like around 10am when offers are updated.

Best way to save money and stock the freezer. It all depends on each store but at my local grocery I've gotten chicken stir fry strips, steak, store made pizzas, ready meals, and sometimes baked goods, all for 50% off the label price. My local store freezes everything that's able to be frozen to ensure it keeps as much quality as possible, and I've always been happy with what I've gotten. With prices rising so high it's nice to save on food and save food from creating more waste.

I love this app and it gives you a chance to try something you regularly wouldn't think of buying. it is quick easy and there has been no hassle so far . I was told if the meat is freezer burnt or package is ripped they just credit you back no questions asked

It was good, but now the service fee is exorbitantly high. It would be fine if you were buying a sizable number of items, perhaps, but it basically doubles the price when you're only buying one item. Service fee should be a % of the order price.

If you do any actual calculations and comparisons to how groceries are priced normally, a lot of the products actually aren't cheaper. However, the real issue is that the items listed just use stock images, so you can never see what you're actually buying. I use the Flashfood app all the time with real photos and rarely get inedible food but with Foodhero I've only used it a few times and most times the meat is so brown and off it shouldn't been be given to someone for free, much less for sale.

It's fine but needs A LOT of work. 1) Lots of food items don't have pics or product descriptions. 2)The serv fee isn't fixed or % based from what i can tell. It's supposed to be fixed at like $1.79, But on 2 seperate orders in Nov, 1st at $1.99 and a 2nd at $2.83 The 1st one was charged $1.95 serv fee and the 2nd one was charged $0.92 3)You get charged before pick up, but the Stores can mess up orders and just remove the missing items after you've already picked it up, then refund you days later

the app works fine. my only complaint is that even though I check in on the app and show up when I'm supposed to I still have to wait while they page someone to find my food. I feel that if I've checked in they should already have brought the food up to the front.

2025-05-19: Easy to use, Easy at food pick-up, Saving me lots $$ and Exceptional customer support! Highly recommended!....EDIT 2026-01-18: Customer support proved to be "hit or miss". I experienced the best version of it (from my original review) to the worst version of it when I was clearly being brushed off with no intention to investigate or help by the lazy customer support rep. It's unfortunate because besides that bad experience, it's been a 5-star.

Nice to be able to buy some things I could not normally afford. Also some good deals on ready made foods. The only hiccup I have with Flashfoods is with one of their retailers, Dash Mart. Poor customer service in my opinion.

Awesome way to save food from the landfill, plus the added benefit of 50% reduction in the price. Quality has been excellent, just like the experience. No complaints... you need to download this app and start saving money!

I love this app but I don't know what I would do without it. amazing deals example curd cheese $120 worth only paid $15 okay with frozen but it was still fresh and yummy and no mold so I got enough cheese for at least 10 more months.

Dont use. You thin your getting a good deal but than they add multiple dollars of service fees on to your bill. The items are already discounted in store for aimilar/cheaper. Terrible scam.

absolutely adore this app! who doesn't love saving money on food!? also the $5 credit and a $5 credit if you invite a friend is a great incentive for extra free groceries so thank you food hero for being the hero I didn't know I needed!! side note - I would say it would be cool if those last 15 minutes deals had an extra incentive to buy besides the blinking timer :p Maybe an extra percentage off? Better than waste!
