Downloaded the app and was doing the 7 day free trial and had subscribed on the 7.99 plan but as soon as I started watching a movie, it would go to commercial and it glitched and never went back to the movie and I tried watching 4 different movies and it did the same. So I just went in and cancel my subcription as it was frustrating not being able to watch a whole movie.

Stop saying you can forward thru ads, you can't! Want to watch old westerns and movies, this is the app. If you want to forward thru ads in your recordings (as app claims) this app is frustrating. It tries to show thumbnails but by the time they become visible on screen it has forwarded too far past the ad break and makes you miss part of the show. Then if you try to back up it goes back to before the ads. Not our Internet speed either. Have super fast Internet.

Update: 2/12/26 After further investigation I have found that Frndly TV broadcasts in a low bit rate and double compresses the video for a awful viewing experience on TV. This app is strictly for your phone. It's designed that way. There is some good content. However it is overshadowed by a lagging and glitchy app. Canceled before the free trial ended. The Roku Channel, Tubi and Pluto TV work absolutely flawlessly on all my devices.

I love the shows and the value. The problem is it's glitching A LOT. I've had the app on my smart TV for less than a month, and there have been at least 5 full days, 1 of them during my free trial, where it just spins or shows the Frndly logo grayed out and it won't respond to any commands. I have 1gb fiber optic internet, so I know that's not the issue.

Deceptive! I tried the "free" 7 days, and after realizing, you have to pay extra for some of the better programs, I tried to cancel. Both Frndly Tv as well as Roku said I didn't have a subscription. I tried contacting through all available channels in, support, and phone. However, no luck. Now, they have charged my account $87.73! So unless you want to lose your money, I do not recommend it!!

Really good but could easily be made great. I love all the channels with the corny romance movies. I wish it included local channels and was easier to watch in popup view on mobile devices. I also wish that the cheapest plan offered dvr, even if it wasn't unlimited. The ability to filter your recordings (unwatched, a certain channel, movies, etc.) and change how they are sorted would be nice. The premium plan should include ad free vod.

Beware of this app. I looked over my account and was charged for two months within a week of each other. I'm not happy that I paid twice in December for this. It was nice being able to watch Christmas movies, but annoying trying to fast forward through commercials. Since you can't see video, you have to guess which doesn't work. The search engine often couldn't find movies, also annoying. I doubt I'll ever use this again considering how difficult it was to find things and the double billing.

This app needs a lot of work. It randomly cuts out in the middle of your show back to the menu. It plays the same commercial like 5 times in a row back to back, won't steam to certain devices, you can't fast forward, no option to skip intro, resume option will choose where it wants to resume from. Needs a good update. I will say the customer service was good and responsive!

Edited to say that it used to work great and since the recent update, it pauses and skips while I'm trying to watch a movie using Chromecast. Very frustrating! It looks as though many people are experiencing this, so I hope they fix it quickly! Love this app!! We don't have a cable package, so I can't watch Hallmark movies and this app has been great! I don't want to pay for a ton of channels when I'm only interested in a few. This app let's me watch all the Hallmark movies I've been missing. 😃

If you want an affordable way to watch certain channels from cable, with the added benefit of DVR -- which allows you to set recordings and view them whenever you'd like -- then this is an excellent option. What keeps me from the annual plan is the lack of certain conveniences. First, I want the screen-dimming on Rewind and Fast Forward to go away or to be shortened. I'd also like a Favorite Channels feature. (EDIT) Both Amazon and Roku users can now remove dimming with the back button.

I've waited a long time to be able to watch and cast UP TO DATE newer Hallmark movies and was super excited when this app became available. However the app doesnt work well at all! It constantly drops the movie and only casts intermittently. The 'continue watching' does not work, it doesn't track what you have watched like it is supposed to, i mean like not at all, and depending on how far back you DVR'd a particular movie, its hard to locate it, if you get kicked off the app or pause the movie.

Is not bad if you like watching the same shows over and over. There is no way to tell if you have watched something. No marking of previously view. Also, I record the shows so I can skip thru commercial, but if you skip, then the show will freeze up about 5 minutes after skipping almost 90% of the time. Have to drop out and resume to continue. If you just watch without skipping, no issues. It's like they punished you for not viewing their commercials. Reported to the CS many of time to no avail.

It's OK. My biggest issue is that it glitches while recording. So, you get blackouts while watching a recorded show or movie. Also, I wish there was the ability to download content for offline availability, like with my other streaming apps. That way, I could watch what I DVR when I'm on the train without using 10gb of data for 1 movie! If not for those 2 issues, I'd give it 5 stars. Once I'm caught up with my DVR stuff, I'll probably downgrade because of these things.

You pay for the app and still get commercials. That stinks. When you pay for other streaming apps, you don't have commercials. That's the whole point of paying for the app. I don't know why this one still makes you watch commercials, but I HATE that part of it. It does have a great "start over" feature which lets you watch a movie from the start, but it starts at the last 5/10 min. of the previous movie (which is totally confusing) & only let's you go back an hour so if you come in later-tough.

Love this app. Would be 5 stars if they had an app for Android TV. I sent an email and asked about it - the response I got back was you can "chromecast" to your Android TV device. Yes, I can. BUT, that is a less than acceptable response. The audio is slightly off, it's a pain to not be able to just open an app like I do with Netflix, Hulu, Pluto, etc. I tried using the Stremium app that worked but then stopped working. PLEASE, ANDROID TV APP THEN YOU WILL TRULY BE 5 STARS!

A little frustrating. I love the service because I get channels I can't get on my other streaming services. I had to give only 3 stars due to the app itself. It is very easy to use which gained that 3rd star. Unfortunately, it case constant issues connecting and staying connected. And when you do restart your show, it's from the beginning. And there are times I can't get it to connect to Chromecast or even get it to work. And it's not the wifi. Hope it gets better. Love the channels.

The channels available are good. I can even deal with 3 days to watch something if I miss it in the TV portion of the app. But the functionality of the app is HORRIBLE. It is clunky, cannot move forward or back easily, and if I stop a recorded movie, chances are it loses my place and the movie starts back over. I have had to rewatch a movie 3 & 4 times just to finish it. In this day and age, with technology as it is, these issues are unacceptable. Please fix this.

This app is terrible. It's not user friendly, it freezes about 7-10 times per movie on our television, it never saves what I've been watching when I close it out, and the overall experience I've had with it is nothing but frustrating. I put up with it because it's the only way for me to watch Hallmark movies during Christmas and as of right now, Frndly has no competition. But if another service starts offering the same thing, I would leave Frndly in a heartbeat.

Love the service... however it would be nice if the channel guide could be viewed in the landscape position on my tablet. Also it's hard to delete several programs at the same time because you have to go through each individually...it would be better if I could look at all recorded "Lost in Space" episodes, for instance, and check off which ones I want to delete together. For some programs, I often want to delete all but the latest one and there's no easy way to do that.

The app had difficulty casting on an iPhone 8. I had to restart the app several times to get it to work. When watching an on-demand movie, we got halfway through and my wife answered a text, which made the movie jump back to the beginning. It doesn't let you fast forward, so we gave up. Tried it on a pixel 2 as well, and there's no fast forward capability. Seems pretty buggy to me -- not what you would expect from a paid streaming service. Also comes abundant with commercials.
