In general I've been a happy Garmin user for a couple years now, only just now am I finding the first thing they could improve. If you pay for a subscription they will use AI to build you a training plan for your event. (several kinds to pick from) However for the "Total Body Circuit" to improve general health they give you a list of what excersises to do, and for how long, and how many rep, but no diagram or video or anything to show how to do it. Some I recognize, but not all.
Garmin coach is completely unusable. Does not let me change preferences, workouts don't come in, makes me do the benchmark run multiple times and doesn't register I've already done it. Gives me multiple scheduled rest days for no reason. This is all in the course of a week. It is completely inconsistent, doesn't update my planned workouts. I've tried using the website instead but it also doesn't work or shows something completely different than the app. UI is cluttered as well.

it's alright, neither as terrible or as life changing as some imply. The subscription is pretty useless. I would have considered paying if it allowed me to properly integrate with fitness apps that gave actual training guides and classes, but no, I have to pay other services to shuttle my data onto this platform. Open your ecosystem, integrate with other providers and your app/hardware would be utterly indispensable to me. Now I'm only here until something better comes along.
I love my watch - I use it for health tracking, mainly sleep, oxygen, heart rate, HRV, and stress. Lately, I'm mostly tracking sleep. I think it's extremely annoying that you cannot delete naps in the Garmin Connect app. My Garmin device frequently falsely detects naps. You can edit the nap times, but cannot delete them! It also sometimes doesn't detect sleep properly, and even after editing sleep times, will still give false info about the sleep I got, like saying it was short when it wasn't.
I honestly love the app and the interface tons. But I have a huge problem with the fact that you cannot input any custom BMI values UNLESS you purchase and add the Garmin scale they sell. I paid to have a very accurate BMI measurement taken and I have nowhere to input it now. It's not a technology issue, it's the decision they actively made against us.
The app used to be better before an update that happened a bit ago. Now the layout mimics that of Fitbit, which I personally hate. It's drab, it's not conducive for the user and overall was a bad move. I'm hoping Garmin will either fit it in an update, or give users the option to pick how they want their app set up. If not, I'll find another tracker to use
The Garmin app is great, but I'm giving it four stars because I'm one of those many users upset with Connect+. Garmin was the last major smartwatch manufacturer to offer a full feature suite with no subscription. Now that's not the case. I bought my Garmin Forerunner precisely for that reason. For now, it appears the Connect+ subscription is largely superfluous AI junk, but the fact that it exists at all is a very bad sign. If they're not careful, Garmin will lose me as a customer.
Great app - user interface is smooth and reliable. Dashboards up front are configurable. Lots of ways to track workouts, health metrics, etc. And the best part is there are no annoying ads to look at. Only reason I didnt rate as a 5 star is because you only get 1 year of data tracking on the app (I'd really like to see performance across multiple years to show total progress) and the food logging doesn't seem to synch with My Fitness Pal easily. I still like this better than Stravia.
Pretty useless app. Has a pretty interface and syncs with their things decently, but refuses to read in HR data from anything else, making it useless for tracking my overall training. Update: now every time I start the app, and asks me if I want to allow it to set alarms. Why would I want something that has almost none of my data to set alarms?
I have used the Garmin Connect app with multiple Garmin watches and devices. It has been consistent and I like all the new features they are constantly adding. Recently, I have had some issues with my Fenix 8 syncing to my Google Pixel 10 phone. I think this may be the phone or Android. It usually works and all I need to do is turn off search for 10 seconds and then back on.
Wow this might be the most demoralizing piece of tech I've ever owned. Air temps drop by 50 degrees and suddenly my fitness is -5 on the next run. Pee break at 4am? You couldn't possibly have slept prior to that, with only 2.5hrs of sleep, you need a rest day! I've owned multiple forerunners and they've gotten more underwhelming with each new release. The app itself crashes regularly and settings are buried in random menu's 5 clicks deep which is a hassle. Might be time to move on from Garmin.
I love the Garmin watch. I believe it's the most accurate of all fitness watches. (I have some experience in research) I love the app allows you to connect with others and join so many challenges. the one drawback that prevented me from giving a perfect rating is that it doesn't do the fitness rings like most fitness apps. you have to go into multiple different sections to see. I would love to see that be integrated to close rings. I would probably never use Samsung health ever again if they did
This app is a great way to track my exercise, sleep, hydration, and weight. It works great with my Garmin Swim tracker, but it's also good for walks, elliptical equipment and daily steps. Activities such as kayaking are tougher to track, but not overly difficult to figure out. Feb 2026: My swim watch is starting to show its age. Virtually any swim (10 minutes or 45 minutes) results in the battery dying if I pause or stop my timing. Despite this, the app still captures my time & distance.
It is ridiculous that you can't view net calories in/out without paying extra subscription fees. This is one of the most basic metrics and I've already spent a lot of money on the watch; I shouldn't have to spend MORE. I'm using MyFitnessPal and syncing with Garmin and can't view my overall calorie deficit/surplus after activity on my watch OR macro/nutrient details in the Connect app OR activity calories burned in the MyFitnessPal app because the data doesn't get shared that direction either.
I have been using this app for almost 10 years now. This app is super intuitive and easy to use. The bluetooth connect works like a charm and has never given my Android or Garmin a problem. I love all of the data that is available for tracking your activities. However, I am sad to see that Garmin has started charging a fee for their "premium" content. The cost of the watch is so high already. I unfortunately can not justify paying another $70 for content that used to be free.
I use this to sync with a Montana 700i GPS, not a watch. I have been using this daily for 4 years. My review is reduced to one star since a bit over a month ago, the app said "Disconnected from device" and it deleted its Bluetooth configuration and all data pertaining to the device from the phone. This has happened three times already. The Bluetooth needs to be re-configured on both sides to make it work again and it takes 20 minutes to do so.
UPDATE: It's been almost 7 years now and in that time I replaced my Vivoactive 3 Music with a non-music version. Still love the app; still love the watch. ORIGINAL POST: I've been through every device from the Microsoft Band to several FitBit devices, and none of them matches the accuracy and reliability of my Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music. The app pairs perfectly with the device and I cannot think of anything I would want to add or change on it. Great work!
Honestly surprisingly bad? I can't view all of my stuff. Averything is in submenus? You have to add tabs at the bottom to even get the functionality - there is no other way. Can't view my hydration. Maybe I'll get the hang of it but coming from Fitbit, this is stressful to navigate. Otherwise looks good. Basic functionality like steps and heartrate tracking are front and center, but I want to see everything.
Latest Update (1/26/2026) is giving me notifications of comments from connections but then comments aren't fully visible when I click on them from notifications tab. Small glitches/issues like this are becoming more prevalent in the last year since they've changed the UI. I've been using Garmin for several years now, so hopefully this is just a phase as they roll out routine updates. But still frustrating.
The app is not accurately displaying the software version installed on my watch and preventing me from installing other applications onto my watch such as Spotify or Amazon music. I had to manually update the watch on Wi-Fi to get the software version updated because the app itself would not. I tried to delete the app and reinstall it but it still reads the wrong software version. in addition to that, the app will not sync with my Strava account.
